I had this playing on my speaker while I was in my local Sainsbury's a few days ago. The African security guy walked past and asked are you listening to Fela Kuti? The following conversation went on for about 30minutes. The conversation was concluded about forgiveness. I've gone through hell in the last few weeks and this security guard told me that you have to forgive people, even if they have harmed you and you did nothing to deserve it. Thanks Fela Kuti and to the security guard

Yes, I study quantum mechanics, and I believe we will always live on as Information. We might degrade as Matter, but our coherent thoughts and gestures are immortal, as the remnants of our matter will be.
Fela was a genius who was waisted by narrow minded politicians who had no future plans for the continent of Africa. What he was preaching, is true today as it was then, but as usual those who live ahead of their time will always suffer in the sight of ignorance. Fela suffered the faith of great men like Nkrumah, Gabby, ML King, and so many others. He was misunderstood almost entirely across the board.
I grew up with Fela's songs from his days with his first band Koola Lobitos in the 60s to his later band Africa 70 which marked the start of Afro Beat as we know it. I watched him perform in the old Kalakuta shrine and he often featured on the TV in Lagos. He is an amazing and unique performer to watch. Apart from his singing and ability to compose music that ordinary people can relate to, his musical skills with trumpet, saxophone and electric piano, as well as his dancing skills, is second to none. There is no other musician like Fela in the world and there will never be. He was an African and indeed an International musical genius and a legend who took on the Nigerian Army, Police, Politicians and the Government with his songs like no-one, musician or no musician, has ever done or will ever do. I am still so much enjoying his music to this day and always will. Thank you Fela for standing up for the ordinary people and leaving us some amazing music that will last forever. May your soul rest in peace!!
My 5 year old, special needs loves this. Decided to expose my kids to every music possible - bluegrass/afrobeat/reggae/rock/folk/funk/grunge/jazz. I consider this music a ritual of sound and rhythm. Sadly, 99% of Americans have never heard of Fela so makes for good conversation

Or no feet....
Ok! Now that I have gotten my dose of Fela Kuti for the day, I feel back on track. July 2019.
I am right here with you. :)
Thank you.

I discovered a new World.... thanks so much. I' m feeling better! peace&love
The rhythms and arrangements in this music are some of the best ever put to tape

This Brother, may he be ever present through the ancestors as we dance and trance to his music. Let him guide you thru the shrine to reveal your inner self. Haa Open & Close!
This music is very addictive! I love it! The last song is my favorite.

🦠 Gracias 🎵 very funky vibes 👌🏽 really enjoyed listening to this 🎶 Спасибо ! 🧊
working at home ,album number 4 as background music. fela rocks.
This is one of those albums that I know I'm going to have to listen to 5 more times to understand it completely.
I love his pandora channel, it totally rocks. I put it on to help me do my Saturday house cleaning. So energizing
Funny how they profit from his music being on Pandora but Pandora isn't available in many African countries... The message in all his music rings true to this date
I really dont understand the people who feel the need to give music dislikes, especially something like this. If you can't handle the vibes go back to Ed Sheeran you uncultured internet zombies.
people that dislike this prolly hate Ed Sheeran too, they just brain dead
Perfection, beauty and awesomeness!
Fela is the king of my dancing time
I often find the openings of fela's songs the most powerful. the first 2-3 minutes of swegbe n pako..bruh...that guitar..hot damn!!
FANTASTIC... AMAZING...INSPIRING.....EXCITING......
At 2019, this amazing piece still sounds absolutely new and fresh. What a masterpiece indeed; from of course, the legendary himself.
Thanks for uploading, and for the nostalgia. Much love🙏🏿👊🏿
2020, and still groovin’ to this!

Thank You for Gifting the Earth a message from the future ABOUT the past when "time" becomes such a hustle (Aka NOW) ❤️💃😂💃❤️🙌
Who are the 82 morons that gave this a down thumb??? How can you not be blown away by Fela. Even JB was digging his stuff back then.

Stay Hydroated!
me too. then I put this record on and sat down to dry off
As you should. When you feel the rhythm, there's no other option than to dance :)
70's afro/jazz funk at the best
These are the best comments. All love and positivity here also.
¡Amo la genialidad de Fela Kuti y su orquesta!
Bought it in a restaurant at night in Douala, Cameroon maybe 30 years ago. I Wonder where is it now...
I am always sad that I never got to see Fela! the musical in New York City
The musical was a really nice tribute to Fela... However, it compares in no to seeing him live if you happen to be old enough on stage, especially at his famous Shrine in Lagos...
I'm sadder not to have seen the real thing Himself!!!
