I love Dying Wish. This album is an instant classic and I can't get enough of it. Wish you would have checked out Torn From Your Silhouette. That was the first song I heard from them and it instantly hooked me.
Very solid band. I bought the album this track comes from after someone in the Discord community (ProgPro maybe?) had it in their Best of 2023 list. I agree it has more of an old-school metalcore sound compared to most modern metalcore. Takes me back to the 2000s.
Love me some Dying Wish, their latest album slappppped, gave me major old school ‘05 metalcore vibes + some modern hardcore. Their song Paved in Sorrow is more of a melodic track focussing on her cleans also from their last album if you want to check more out from them. The album is rather short so perhaps you could listen to it in one sitting, the tracks transition really nicely into eachother which make it a very cohesive piece
Paved in Sorrow was my favorite track off that album. While I think the album overall is good, I do wish more of it was like Paved in Sorrow, with more emphasis on the melodic side of their sound.
Pretty standard metalcore; almost like a time capsule of what the genre was doing back at the turn of the century with bands like Killswitch Engage. Even though it's a genre I got burnt out on I enjoyed this if only for the nostalgia factor as it takes me back to when I was first discovering and enjoying the genre. Probably not something I'd care to listen to over the course of an album, but for an individual song it was fun.
