Francesco Paoli, what a guy, what a legend he is. At first he was the bands lead vocalist and lead guitarist, then the band had trouble to find someone that could play drums, so Francesco learned the drums in like 5-6months or near that, even if he had some basic knowledge about it. He was their main drummer for like 11years , then many orginal members did quit in around 2020, as example Tommaso Riccardi and Paolo Rossi , then after that Francesco did become their main vocalist once again and also their lead guitarist, also bass. Its just Insane how talent this guy is.
haha, my usual genre is folk/americana...i love this channel because it is introducing new kinds of music to me....i really like this album...thank you to whomever shared this.
Oh I did not know them :O ! The first track really hooked me up. I'll listen to the album and comeback to the video. Thanks for the discovery !!!
Okay i'm back ! I really liked the album :D ! As always your analysis and thoughts are really insteresting and help me to have a better understanding and appreciate even more the album. It is funny because the things you like the least about this album are the ones i like the most. Like the really dense pathing and intensity of the album, the heavy vocals. It is probably because even if I listen to a lot of genre I think that deep in my soul I am a metal head haha. Usually I don't really like symphonic metal like Nightwish for example. I feel like there is too much epicness and orchestral stuff that sound a bit 'cheesy'. And this album to me is more of a death (even techdeath ?) with a subtle touch of symphonic element added to it. And this probably why I like it (also I really love dark and dissonant choirs with lot of tension :D). The topics of the different songs seem to have a very pessimistic approach and really one sided. Maybe the writing would benefit a bit more nuances. Thanks for the analysis and have a nice day ! (sorry for the english mistakes).
In my opinion, purely instrumental versions can be quite great for people who wanna practice their vocals, want to record themselves then hear themselves without also listening to the original vocalist. These versions definitely encourage more community engagement via people having an easier time doing covers (saying that as a vocalist myself)
Eyyyo, whole album
Thanks yet again! Awesome stuff! If I may give a recommendation from the death metal genre a band called Yyrkoon and the album Unhealthy Opera is one of my absolute favorites and not many know the band! Thanks and please keep on doing these full album reviews! Cheers! ❤
Listened to Unhealthy Opera. Pretty solid dm well rooted in old school. I'm mainly into more proggy/experimental stuff, but def worth the full album listen. More than enough to keep me interested all way through. Thanks!
Yo dude, you just made my day!
I wanted to find a reaction to at least one song from Veleno, and here is a whole album, also with analysis)
I noticed that you liked the voice of their female vocalist, and in general their symphony.
I would like to advise you to check out Aeterna - Легенда Начинается (The Legend Begins) (album). This is folk with folk instruments such as flutes, bagpipes and other things, the most powerful and beautiful female vocals (also takes good notes) and, in general, a rather epic sound.
If you still decide to look at it, then it's better to look for the videos along with the translation, because the texts are intertwined both Slavic, English and, as I understand it, Icelandiс.
Thanks for the excellent reaction and analysis once again!
Uh I'm so excited for this, fleshgod apocalypse is a band that I really love. Thanks for this!!
Wha~! My favorite band! THX FOR VIDEO! Really cool deep analysis! Interesting thoughts! ❤
U made my day..... sooooo looking forward to when you get to the Veleno piece but I will be pacient :-)
Hope you do full albums Vildhjarta someday
I had a feeling you'd like Pissing On the Score. It's also my favorite and stands out nicely. Strangely it doesn't seem to be that popular compared to some of the others.
While the other albums may be too much for you, i think you might find them interesting. That'll lend further information about the insanity of francesco paoli and francesco ferrini as well. I love all of their albums, however agony is by far my favorite from them, followed by mafia and labyrinth, then by king, oracles and then veleno.
In short, they've always had a great orchestral presence across their albums, and the album finale is always a short piano piece that sums up and conveys the album theme (unless they have cover songs as well)
In any case, i'd recommend going through each album. The first 3, or 4, are a lot heavier in the sense that they're much more of a wall of sound, which i honestly strongly prefer, given that the style is much more befitting for the name "fleshgod apocalypse".
Love fleshgod, they're an amazing band, and both francesco's are insane. Paoli especially is just incredibly multi-talented, being a great guitarist and an insanely good drummer, as well as a composer.
Veronica ❤
To answer your question, they definitelty started out as a tech death band but have leaned more towards symphonic metal every release. I think most people still consider them a tech death band though
Saw these guys live in 2019 in support of Hypocrisy, absolutely slayed live.
Oh if you're looking to get a deathcore week, i'm not really a deathcore person (Thall aside, HLB is one of my favorite bands ever), i'd recommend "the poetic edda" from synestia and disembodied tyrant.
Actually their Agony album a whole is considerably faster than Fury (especially The Violation, it's 135 BPM although the drummer plays double or even triple time, while Fury is 115 BPM and the drummer plays double time). But yeah, outside that absolute technical madness that Agony was, this song is faster than their average
I had an interesting thoughts with what you mentioned at at the 1:32:00 to the 1:34:00 ranged, about how you might need someone to get you to snap out of it.
I do wonder if that’s why they made the protagonist of the story more of a tyrant figure willing to kill their own blood? I don’t think many people would be willing to step up and tell this tyrant they’re a fool for carrying on this love.
Though it could also just be a stupid story that only makes sense in my head 😂.
1) it's virtuoso or virtuosic or virtuosity
2) these guys are symphonic technical death metal or extreme symphonic death metal
3) their earlier stuff was faster for sure
These guys are awesome for sure, just powerhouses all around. Would love to hear some Hour of Penance on here, it's the band some of the guys were in before they switched to FA
Could you check out Will Wood’s latest album? Or maybe check out The Crane Wives? Any album from them is good but Coyote Stories has my favorite song.
Nice choice. Caught them live following their King release with Carach Angren and Abigail Williams a few years ago. FA was great but Carach Angren was the main event in my opinion. I’m enjoying this review.
Love these guys! If you ever do a reaction to playthrough videos, like I recall you having done in the past, The drummer Eugene Ryabchenko can't be missed! He's quite possibly the best extreme metal drummer at the moment. At least in contention anyway.
I've watched plenty of your videos, and 1:41:36 is the first time I recall laughing out loud at your reaction to a section. It's like your face morphed into some other human!

You won’t be sorry!
What you meant to say is that you like punk but played by people that can actually play
You look like you've had a wild night
"I feel the fragility of my body...as a 30-something", just you wait until the 40s hit, fuck. Especially if you happened to enjoy those invincible years earlier.
Anyway, for Fleshgod, a big fan of how they incorporate the classical stuff, but the cookie monster vocals are a bit of a let down for me. All around the vocals tend to be a few different styles completely separated from each other. I think a vocalist that could go between a few of them would add a lot.
I always feel like Fleshgod is a bit like that skit at the beginning of that 12 Foot Ninja song, "quite busy". They tend to have breather songs on the albums, but rarely do they take brearther during a song. Great in short doses, but a maybe a little exhausting when listening to a whole album.
Absinthe: num num num. yeah absinthe is pretty yummy all right (responding to myself like a dummy)
Totally agree about their breather pacing. I would love some breaks in the songs but I get that they wanted to go full on for a majority of this album and it works if you can push through it.
@@DaronMGLAbsinthe is tasty. Either the original way (in sugar water) or the newer Bohemian way (burnt sugar), both drinks are amazing. Yes it had a rumor of causing hallucinations because it is spiced with wormwood (which is mildly toxic in large quantities). It cannot cause hallucinations on its own though, you'd need to drink so much of it that you'd die from alcohol poisoning long before you'd get enough wormwood in your system to get its toxic effects. Wormwood is still used as a spice in foods too. What really drove people crazy back then before it was banned was alcohol abuse, long binges can make you see things and stronger the alcohol (and absinthe is stupidly strong) the easier it can mess you up. In recent decades it has been unbanned in many countries, which is good because it is a good drink and it is not any worse than any other equivalent strength super hard spirit, it is just easier to drink than those.
Love this band. Probably my least favorite album by them though, hahaha.
