Hello X EMS worker, I am a retired Paramedic after 30 years. I’ve been down 3 times, hit by 2 cars, all in the last 2 years. Gear is so important. I am taking your advice and going to Ugly Bros for a pair of riding jeans. Thank you.
im the same way when i got in my accident i was in a Dainese, race jacket and gloves with a $300 bilt techno 2.0. and in a 45 mph wreck i ended up only slightly breaking my right thumb, that gear 100% saved me from road rash and anything else that could've been severe, dont skimp on the gear guys its important! Great vid, ride safe out there all!
I had 2 pause and comment about Zander wearing Kat's leggings? Photo r it didn't happen. Oh God I love both of u, and I'm dying inside😂😂. Ok I'm going back and watch the rest.
Had a motorcycle accident the same week you did kat wearing nothing but work boots jeans and a t-shirt. Absolutely agree with don't skimp on gear. Large road rash scar on my arm from dressing for the ride and not the slide. Full face helmet FTW! I wore half helmets 90% of the time but decided against it since it was a sunset/night ride. The Bilt Force $100 helmet absolutely saved my life because my head hit right below where the half helmet stops! Got another Bilt force for now but saving up for a shoeii one day :) Stay safe! (Can't beat the feeling of getting back on two wheels!)
My Statement on helmets was told to me by my father. If you believe you have a $80 head buy an $80 Helmet. So I have always bought the best in regards to DOT and SNELL testing.
You might wanna check out airbags. They come in jackets or as an overjacket. I've had one for 2 years and wouldn't ride without it. Haven't crashed with it, but I have fallen in my face at a stop and deployed the airbag and it's amazing, it really holds you tight and prevents your helmet from moving around.
I'm a large V-Twin Bagger rider, so my gear is for a different style of riding. I generally always wear riding boots. I've considered some of the Kevlar jeans, but haven't pulled the trigger on a pair. Maybe I'll look into those UglyBros. I've been wearing fingerless gloves, but I'm looking for some full-finger that aren't too hot in the hot, humid Gulf Coast summers. And helmets... Well, I've bought 4 in the last twelve months. My preferred, cruising around town is a GMax Half helmet, but if I'm going on a long highway ride (or recording video), my newest is a Sedici Aperto Carbon 3/4 with face shield. Super light-weight and comfortable. Whatever your gear, it better be comfortable or you won't wear it. Peace and love.
This is very fun to watch and informative. I have been wanting to get the ugly bro jeans, but apparently they do not make the women's version quite large enough for moi. 😕 They suggested I try the mens, 😖, good grief, dagger in the 💜. Anyway Kat, thanks for sharing your gear.
From what I remember there was a descent selection of leather jackets at the Dainese Factory Store in SF and at BMW SF. Of course you don't have to buy from there but they're both chill places if you just want to go down, browse and check stuff out.
Take a look at Suomy Helmets. Outstanding build quality, fit & finish. What I like most about my Suomy is that it’s super light... and, best graphics to boot.
Great edit Kat , Definitely having proper gear is important. I’ve been riding for quite a long time and I too have the same mind set of don’t put a price on your head make sure that you spend the money and get proper gear I was involved in an accident on the track a year and a half ago 2017 broke seven ribs fractured clavicle and punctured a lung. I was wearing full gear at the track which is mandatory thank God I probably would be in worse shape, my helmet was a shoe RF 1200 Marquez replica and it took a good hit and I’m happy say my head is ok
Helmet fitment and sizing is the most difficult for people. Cheek pads will break in and get loose. People love a certain brand / style but the fitment isn't right. I had an older HJC first lid....fit good. Got a cool looking Icon but got a headache after an hour of riding. That's when I learned of head shape. Got a HJC RPHA10 Pro and love it
I bought another pair of Alpinestars SMX last year. I bought a pair of nylon mesh pants from Alpinestar. Have a Roadgear 3/4 length leather jacket (1994) and a mesh Firstgear (2015, replacement for the one I was wearing in a low side). Found a good Icon set of gloves with perforated gloves, on my 2nd Nolan N series modular (N103) enough years to replace it this year. SNELL won't test Modulars except as an open face.
Great video as always Kat! I hear a lot of people saying you should always ride with a backshield, i'm guessing that neither of you are riding with one since you didn't show it, but whats your opinion on backshields?
I rode for 3 years first on an 80 cc scooter that went about 60 mph, then a 950 cc cruiser, the whole time I only wore regular jeans , boots and a leather jacket, and a large size helmet, I also didn't know my correct size was a medium....I guess I felt safer on the cruiser but now I got naked bikes, FZ09 and FZ 10 , it feels like you have nothing in front of you, I ordered pants for $300' the size was wrong, the length was fine but I could not close them, I sent them back, I then ordered another pair for only $45.00 believe it or not they are better than the expensive pair ....the brand is HWK , very well made , they have removable knee pads, removable hip pads, jacket zipper , removable liner for hotter days, zippers on each leg to help when putting on boots, zippered pockets and they have vents but still remain water proof. I have tested them at 30 degrees as well as at 80 degrees weather, warm enough to be used as snow pants, and cool enough (with the liner removed and the vents opened) to be completely comfortable....Sometimes you can find good stuff that just happens to be cheap. I have been riding now for over 6 years and knocking on wood, I haven't had an accident yet....
Some Solid suggestions and advice here!! I wish more people took safety much more seriously in both a personal protection and vehicle operation stand points. Even with my snowmobile I have well over 2k invested into just my riding gear.
Nice one Kat.. Another great vid girl.. I do love your helmet.. I have the GT Air, but that was really because I wanted the internal visa, so I don't have to carry & fumble about with sunglasses.. but the X-14 looks sick.. I might have to go try one.. s/o to Alex.. oh, and that thumbnail tho (fans himself) More dual vlogs coming ?
100% I crashed 2 years ago. I did a flip over the top of a car. I was wearing quality gear. I walked away with only a broken rib... and totalled my Ninja. Your gear won't seem expensive when the day comes that it saves you!
My complaint about female riding gear: It's also hard to find a jacket that will fit whatever boobage you've got, seems like it's an eternal struggle sometimes haha. Most of the time the arms and waist are too big and then I can't zip the damn thing up. Side note... much respect for the glove 👏 review 👏 ❤
Great gear review 😀 recently subscribed to your channel love every video so good . Watching all the way from England hope I'm welcome to the Kat fam . Look forward to your future uploads ✌️
I have both AStars Supertech R's and Dainese Torque D1's and both are unbelievable to both ride and walk in. I wear AStars on the street and a Dainese suit in the twisties. Also use Shoei X Spirit III Kagayama 😂
I am 100% like you when it came to getting a new helmet. had a $150aud Rjays helmet and went to a decent MC shop and was just looking and one of the sale guys there was talking to me about my Rjays and saw that it was loose on my head and i ended up spending $650 on an AGV K5-S with an Iridium Visor all thanks to my Credit Card. still paying that off 6 months later hahaha
I've always been good about wearing gear from the waist up. I try to wear my boots most of the time, but sometimes when I'm in a hurry to go somewhere I leave the overpants and boots at home.
Kat you’re helmet that you wear my mother wore that same helmet when she crashed into a barb wire fence and it saved her life because of the way it fit on her
Shoulda put slider pegs in there, tis essential gear, especially when you drop your brand new rc390 like a dunce 😭😭😭😭,they should come attatched to your riding pants as an add on
i went and picked up a ugly bro jeans and have only worn them for 7 days and i love them so much and are so good for even just walking around in public like you said thanks for the recommendation and btw i use cod Katcam
like you said about the boots that they suck to walk in i ride and race dirtbikes with friends and the boots we wear suck to walk in if i have to walk to the bathroom or walk somewhere at the track i have to put my shoes on until i get back to my trailer
Snell ftw! DOT doesn't test helmets independantly unless they suspect something's fishy. They leave it to the manufacturer to test them and they must pass certain tests. Snell, manufacturers have to pay to have Snell test and approve them. ECE is the Euro version of DOT but I believe their testing is more thorough or independantly done by ECE rather than the mfg. They all test different things and impact areas, which is why most helmets have one, hopefully two approvals but usually not all three, at least not that I've found. Also why HJC's RPHA 11 is slightly lighter for the Euro model, it wouldn't pass the DOT testing but would pass ECE testing so they had to make the American version a little heavier to pass DOT. With that, DO NOT get a helmet that is only DOT approved. There's been a lot of companies recently *cough* Icon *cough* that have been found their helmets don't even pass DOT.
Bought the helmet, jeans, and boots first, (end of season sales.) Then in spring bought bike. Jacket and gloves were on Christmas list, (the only thing on my list actually.)
Kat love ya! Alex, I am scheduling you an appointment at 3:00 PDT on Friday. Call me, you 1) never wear a women’s leggings; 2) you must always accept that your lady is going to take your things; 3) you love her and you let her take what she wants, no she won’t wash it she wants to feel close to you. Seriously though we need to talk about the leggings. I’m concerned. 😂😂😂. Love you both. Great video. Definitely going to check out the jeans. (Kat why are pictures of your butt now blowing up Instagram? 😂)
The brand Trilobite is the one i use and i love them though. I hate when pans are tight but with these im so f.... comfortable and they are perfekt except when its raining
330 is a bit much for a single pair of jeans, commuters can't really afford that many pair of jeans. I'll stick to my sedici overpants. But awesome review Kat! Keep up the good work.
UA-cam broken it's freezing at 3:45 or looping.. bahaha Just kidding I am going to order a couple my self to be honest. I got my son new helmet and motorcycle boots. Now I need to get new jeans for him and jacket too :( 8 years old cost money!!
Thanks I live in southern Indiana people don’t wear gear or helmets out here I wear a helmet and pants but everything else is just normal clothes I’m going to look into seeing about getting a wide size 15 boot and some cycle pants thanks for all the input really like watching you guys Yes helmet ⛑ are very important I finally found the helmet that fits 5 X lol yes 5X
Click bait! haha! Well it worked and I am here for the booty..... (clears thoat) I mean riding gear duh. I do have a question, I wear the low cut riding boots like Alpinestars or TCX. I want to get the full length, but is it weird wearing them with jeans? Like tucking them in?
My girl has a leather Astars Stella Barcelona. She loves it but yea, it's stiff. Plus she is a DDD and rides a R6. Hard to definitely find jackets that fit well for females
Great advice on the helmets. When I first started riding on the street, an old guy gave me great advice on helmets. He said " if you've got a $5 head, buy a $5 helmet. If you value your head buy a Snell approved helmet period."
When i started riding i did not have a lot of money i got myself a suzuki gs 500 for ironacly 500 euros and a 120 euro helmet 100 euros gloves 100 euro boots and 200 euros for a used 2 piece motorcycle suit so i spent a bit more on gear then on my bike
That click bait though...😂
Ain’t clickbait if it’s in the video 🤷🏻♀️
Also secretly giggling inside for all the people who will hate this thumbnail because it’s not a twerking compilation.
@@ItsKatKam yes it is! 😁
@@ItsKatKam Haha! Well they won't be too disappointed. Great video! I've been looking forward to you making a video about your gear 😅
@@ItsKatKam are you from canada? Did you try Fortnine?
3:45 is what you came here for don't lie 🤣🤣🤣
Yep
What if it's her little boy toy wearing her jeans in the photo.. he's already wearing her leggings!
Doing God's work.
P. G.M yes it does
I ain’t lying that’s what I came here for

Great video as always Kat!
I hear a lot of people saying you should always ride with a backshield, i'm guessing that neither of you are riding with one since you didn't show it, but whats your opinion on backshields?
Kenneth both jackets have CE level 1 back protectors. For track we have Dainese CE Level 2.

Like the removable knee pads on those pants. Hate feeling like a dork walking around work with knee pads 😬
As a newb, what's the difference between a $250 SNELL/DOT helmet and a $750 one when it comes to protection?

That makes sense, but it's a little bit of a tough pill to swallow for newer riders when all that gear costs so much.

The gear is so pretty
so i wear a RF-1`200 and ive been wanting an X-14 but i ride a street triple so its super upright, just wondering if its too aero for an upright bike
No if anything I think it would help you out with wind!
