.
From the beginning of Mark, the reader knows who Jesus is-the Messiah, the Son of God (Mark 1:1). However, people in the story struggle with understanding just who He is and what He is all about-except for those with demons. They know exactly who He is! The demons recognize Him and wither before His mighty words.
But Jesus rather consistently commands that they keep this information quiet. Why this command for secrecy? Bible students for centuries have mulled over this question. It even has a name in scholarship-the Messianic Secret. Why would Jesus want to keep quiet about who He is?
What will become clear in this journey through the Gospel of Mark is that not only is there secrecy in this book-there is also amazing revelation. It can rightly be called the Revelation/Secrecy Motif, and it runs through the Gospel of Mark. Although at the end of the book, all the secrecy is surprisingly replaced with a powerful revelation of Jesus.
It is a most remarkable story, told in a terse, fast-moving style with little commentary from the Gospel writer himself. He simply tells the story, and then lets the words, the deeds, the actions speak for themselves regarding the life and death of Jesus of Nazareth.🌏

“The church, ENFEEBLED and DEFECTIVE, needing to be REPROVED, WARNED, and COUNSELED, is the only object upon earth upon which Christ bestows His supreme regard.” EG White
Thanks for your deep and spiritual thoughts. Love it❤
I like the example of humility that John the Baptist set in His response to Jesus. He had not the least reluctance to hand over the baton to Jesus at the appropriate time. He encouraged his followers to do the same with the words: He must increase and I must decrease. As a result John was highly exalted in Jesus' eyes. John was recognized by Him as the greatest of all the prophets despite his untimely and tragic death. Many are too proud to even consider that they may need to consider that they may be in need of understanding more Bible truth. Help us Holy Spirit.
Bless you & the insight you shared lovingly
UNCLE MELVIN ❤
I appreciated all 3 of the panelists, and want to thank Deanna H in particular for her insightful comments during the study. She's always a blessing to the Church. You two very experienced Gentlemen have been blessed with great understanding and we're thankful youre willing to share it with all of us. Bless you in Jesus' Name.
I totally agree with you. Deanna is quiet, thoughtful and contributes in a very respectful way. Not to take anything away from the men on the panel 🙂
AMEN
Pastor, Jesus new, three and a half years. Will be his time on earthly ministry. We must also keep in mind, many occasions Jesus have to disrepair among the crowd. Because it was not time for Him to die yet. Remember the plan of salvation was or ready plan ahead of time. Just my thought.
The demons are portraying Jesus as a destroyer. They are lying and he stops their deceipt.
You come right out of a comic book!
The demon comes to the synagogue if it is not filled with the Holy Spirit of God Almighty .
I'm not in agreement with your statement because the Son of God was there in Capernaum and He is Mighty and FULL of Power (meaning the Holy Spirit was/IS present with Him. What do you think about this?
An Important Announcement:
(1) I have no power to stop the "White Apocalyptic Horse" released by Christ since the end of the first century by removing the first seal(Rev 6:1-2; Mat 24:3-5) from Rev 5:1 scroll because God has spoken.
(2) I have also been brought to an immediate attention to the following warning words of Christ's to the Canaanite woman:
“It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
(Matthew 15:26)
(3) "As a dog returns to his own vomit, So a fool repeats his folly"(Prov 26:11)
Last sabbath, only MARK 1:1 was read in sabbath school at my local SDA church!!! DO SDA's fulfill MARK 8:38? Most SDA ("People of the book") have never read the whole bible or even the whole new testament ONCE in their whole life. Mark is 678 verses long and most of those verses will not even be read over 13 weeks in sabbath school classes. Members will discuss or argue topics instead. SO by the end of the quarter, even MARK will not be read! " Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down." Mark 7:13
Is being critical making you more a Christian yourself? You are definitely wrong in speaking such broad generalizations about SDA ppl. They are not cookie-cutter ppl any more than any other group of ppl. By pointing fingers at SDA's you are pointing back at yourself, for Jesus Himself said, whatever a person sows, that shall they reap.
You have absolutely NO IDEA what other Christians read or do in the privacy of their lives. Consider this, if you consider yourself worthy of the Kingdom of God.
@@TheStaffOfLife Unfortunate that you have been poorly educated by SDA..“The church, ENFEEBLED and DEFECTIVE, needing to be REPROVED, WARNED, and COUNSELED, is the only object upon earth upon which Christ bestows His supreme regard.” EG White
