Although I am not a Christian, I love the Gospel of Mark: in my view it is one of the most important works of literature in the western world. I like how in your analysis you do not necessarily assume a Christian worldview, but focus on the story that Mark is trying to tell.
These days I'm reading & preparing the gospel of Matthew, Mark , Luke & John for upcoming Quiz Competition & It has help me so much 👏🙏 I'm so thankful to you once again
I just read the whole book naively like it was a short story. Not making all the assumptions you do. I was aware that it's a translation, and that translations always mean there's interpretation going on. My impression was that most of it at first was about healing. I also found it somewhat cinematic, with flashbacks, some show of temperament on the part of the hero, aspects of a buddy movie. You can even see how the producers didn't like the audience reaction at the first showing, so they got the scriptwriters to change the ending. I find the hero quite mysterious and enigmatic, with a penchant for drama. He tends to fall out with his buddies when they don't understand him or let him down. Doesn't show any interest in women; but there is a mysterious half naked boy in chapters 14 and 16. What's that about? Intriguing. You can see how Matthew and Luke thought the story would be benefit from some enhancement.

A Tremendous Thank You for sharing your knowledge and faith. Your mapping of the structure of our Bible truly sheds light on many confusing aspects of how everything is laid out. I believe knowing this information can be helpful to anyone wanting to understand more, no matter their specific religious beliefs. I have not yet seen all of your videos, but I do greatly appreciate how you stick to a structural understanding of things. Thank You 🙏
Great Work, wow !! Your dry board markers are really light in some colors, hard to see to refer to later for studies.... the scriptures references are also quite small, even at full screen... just a little feedback!!! I am blessed to have found you guys! I am a visual learner and your whiteboards are really really good! Bless you.... :-)

Trying to move from agnostic/ Unitarian to Catholic. Extremely helpful. I tutor dyslexic students and I know exactly how they feel now comprehending text.
That was a very useful video and a good length, too - hard to fit that all in to 20 minutes, but you did a good job. I thought you should have made it clearer that the Gospel is anonymous and we have no idea who wrote it, but the content and particularly the way you focused on the themes was great. It did make it very clear to me how the gospel is a construction rather than something that actually happened - everything happening in threes to build and link to his rising after 3 days, the parallels with Elijah and Moses which demonstrate that Jesus is being invented to mimic them for a new audience, the Markan sandwiches which are there to make a mythical point rather than reflect actual history, etc. Really interesting stuff, thumbs up.
Thank you again for these Bible study videos, oh my goodness they are so amazing, so helpful and so insightful. I wished I knew like how do you do this how do you know this much stuff?
This is great. I also would add that Jesus never referred to himself as the Son of God, and he was intentionally hiding his identity from everyone. I think what was also missed was Jesus’s last words on the cross which is also a topic that scholars debate about as well.
Yes, and an interesting turn in the fourth chapter when speaking of parables. Jesus explains to the disciples that he uses parables so people WILL NOT understand. Go figure that out….
He basically gave everyone the sauce he told y’all who god really is a spirit not no man don’t worship anything but him and believe and keep faith with god not no man or materiel
The full ending of Mark is all the ones with attallics bc It records the resurrection and Had the exact on the dot amount of words as Mathew has that is not coincidence God does not make accidents

…Mark 8: 23So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then He spit on the man’s eyes and placed His hands on him. “Can you see anything?” He asked. 24 The man looked up and said, “I can see the people, but they look like trees walking around.” 25 Once again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and when he opened them his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly. Why did the blind man see people moving about if he was taken out of the village? How did the blind man know what trees looked like and why would they be so tall? Why did Jesus do the miracle twice? I'm a believer not a doubter but this one has been puzzling me for the past month.
"There is nothing outside the man which can defile him if it goes into him, but that which proceeds out of him is what defiles him. He who has ears to hear, let him hear." I am a sceptic and so as you might think I am looking for problems but not finding much. So good job in general but a few additions I think would be good like this is not a first person account written thirty or more years after Jesus' death and the manuscripts we have are even younger. I think it would also be good to state that this is well written has organization, plot development and is just a good read. You have no problem noting that the twelve don't get it but you might have noted that Jesus tried to download his healings by telling the people not to tell anyone. Contrast with John where Jesus is all about miracle s that he John even calls signs and wonders.
Praise the Lord brother good explanation. I want to ask 2 questions plz rly me 1.How many miracles are there in the mark chapter by God ❓ 2.మార్కు సవార్తలో దేవుడు చెప్పిన ఉపమానాలు ఎన్ని❓

at 5:28 you said "the kingdom if HEAVEN is near" but Mark never said so It was Matthew the one who refer to kindom of HEAVEN . also, in the forst verse of the book of Mark there is an aggegate to it, and you state it as if it were original. (son of God)
Mark was the first of the 3 canonical gospels written. Mathew and Luke use very large amounts of Mark and then make additions to Mark and they leave some Markian stuff out that they did not agree with. Mathew is the first gospel as he was an actual disciple so he was more prestigious than Mark and Luke according to the early Church. Mark completely omits the birth narrative and his resurrection description is very brief with a sudden and uninspiring ending. Remember, the letters of Paul were written long before any of the 4 Gospels. Accordingly, Paul never cites or discusses the 4 Gospels at all as the did not exist in his lifetime in writing.
You wrote a lot of things which aren’t true. Paul had a separate work from the 12 apostles and that’s why he focuses on his work and not the apostles but he acknowledges their authority and he was serving in the church for a while before being set apart. His foundation is in the gospel and he doesn’t have to mention it because there’s literally four gospels about Jesus as it was already intended to be.
Mark is not referred to as an apostle in the NT-though tradition claims that the work attributed to him has Petrine (and therefore apostolic) influences.
