During the past Christmas season 2023, I had a concert in the afternoon with an orchestra. And then that night a band that I was in was having a concert. That morning one of the girls said she could not play her flute in the concert because her dad had died. So I was asked to step in. I was not playing that cycle so I actually had to sight read the concert. The first thing I did was look through and see what pieces I already had played before and then I took the ones that were left and looked through them quickly I had about 45 minutes before the concert and just marked out the spots that I knew there was no way I could play in the concert and then I worked on the hard spots of the ones that I could play and I ended up playing I would guess 95% of the concert. It was a real challenge. But I made a point of just being really into each piece by itself and totally focusing on dynamics especially and then articulation. I love these videos where you go in depth with your practicing techniques. They have helped me so much.
I am brand new to fluting, sort of…the last time I played was in 5th grade 😂, but i wasn’t bad IMO. I was at a pawn shop looking for a 12 string guitar when I came across what I thought was a nice flute (silver plated) for $45. It is in the shop now getting a play ready look over and adjustments. I plan on taking lessons when it is ready and am watching as many videos as I can to get myself prepared. You have a lot of great tips and I subscribed to your channel! Thank You for your help on my new journey.

Hi Katie
You’re sounding better than ever.
I can’t use a “time crunch” as an excuse to for messing something up!
So. Much. Pink! 😂 Also, thank you for the tips! I tend to practice music at performance tempo right away
I did have to learn the 3rd movement of Mozart in G in 30 minutes. Luckily I realized it was a lot easier than the first movement.
Wow! I love your sound. It’s super clear and bright!
it's come full circle, the pink fits for Valentine's Day!
I always wonder how people who are really good sound when they practice. Thank you for this behind the scenes.
I haven’t even watched this video yet, but I bet that it will help me!!!❤❤❤

Your vlogs are so inspiring. I'm in a bit of a music rut right now (although I'm just a hobbyist) and your tips really help.
