Brett is such a prodigy! He mastered the Flute quickly, and eventually understanding the Spanish easily. What can't this man do? Age, apparently. Happy Birthday, Brett! you don't look a day over 20.
For non-Spanish speakers: "Don Roberto" is like saying "Mister Roberto" in Spanish, but instead of using his last name, you use his first name. @Eva Quintanar Enjoyed reading your comment very much (with Google translate 😁). It was clear and well spoken; much more than I thought a translated comment would be.
As a flautist, this is HILARIOUS! I felt the dizziness as that was how it is when you first start. Ah I should also have tried the tiptoeing method to hit the octaves. HAHA
I've never played the flute but it seems like the kind of instrument that would be difficult to get any sound from whatsoever in the first lesson. I'm impressed that they did as well as they did! Don seemed to be a wonderful teacher (and his sound was beautiful!)
It very much is. Both from just a technical standpoint, and having the air to do so. Flute takes the most air to play out of literally every other instrument, even voice or tuba. Its no wonder that Brett and Eddy where so short of breath. Its not uncommon to feel like you are going to faint for most of the first few weeks playing.
@@skeleluna04 this is also why in high school when we didn’t have enough brass my band teacher was practically begging the flute second to switch over since we already have to breathe support to play all of them. Also this is how tuba became the third instrument that I learned.
@Simon McCreath I’d assume that’s mostly an embouchure problem, but it could certainly be a mix of both! Just practice 40hrs a day and I’m sure you’ll get it!!!
I love this!! It was funny seeing Eddy and Brett interpret (and misinterpret) the Spanish explanations. Overall I'm impressed that most things were communicated between Roberto and TwoSet pretty accurately despite the language barrier! Loved Roberto's sense of humour and all the jokes. Always breathe (or simply breathe haha) is a good quote to live by
Usually many students can't make a sound consistently (!!!!!!) for 2-3 months. Also, doing vibrato comes much later in the studies, because it needs a good technical foundation and a lot of air control, students usually start learning it after 6-7 years of playing. Actually it's really impressive that you guys learnt how to produce a sound this quickly. I have been playing the flute for 8 years, so I went through all that pain and suffer too😂 Edit: Making a sound on the flute is relatively fast, but it takes a while for it to become consistent. Of course, it is different for everybody, and if we speak about little children, it can take even 2 months for them. Their teeth are changing, so it's more difficult. For adults, it depends on the teacher explaining well the basics and how much they practice. Vibrato... It comes naturally for many students, and it should, so there is no problem if you have it earlier. Usually if you don't have it naturally after around 5-6 years, the teacher will help you learn it
um that’s a little long.... ive been playing for about 5 years and getting a note out wasn’t that difficult and you can usually get it in a day or two vibrato is a little more of a stuggle, yes, but still not something that usually requires 6-7 years def not trying to hate on you or anything it just doesn’t comprehend with me
What kind of students are we talking about? Kids? Adults? I thought Don Roberto explained very well how to make a sound. Basically blow straight in the hole. How would that take months... ._.
Simmm kkkk se até eu, que falo português, achei muito legal uma língua latina por aqui, imagino vocês que falam espanhol. Um "oi" da vizinha do Brasil haha✌️✌️🇧🇷
As a flautist (not professional) i have to say, theyr doing extremely well for beginners, but i think the fact that they are professional violin players (which is similar in pitch and the concept can be similar) helps a lot, but overall good job Brett and Eddy!
I was kind of hoping Brett would play the flute solo from Tchaikovsky's violin concerto. Also I loved Brett's natural ability, it was like how Eddie was with the saxophone.
I'm Brazilian so I understood everything he said (because spanish sounds very close to Portuguese), but man this must have been brutal to try and piece together on the spot. Specially cause it's like very detailed instructions.

Fun fact: People tend to get dizzy when they first start learning flute because they hyperventilate, which decreases carbon dioxide in the blood, causing cerebral vessels to constrict, reducing blood flow to the brain, causing lightheadedness.

Omg…I just realized something. The piece that TwoSet was trying to play here, Mahler Symphony 1 movement 3…might have been the piece of music that made me want to learn the viola. When I was in 5th grade 3 string musicians came into school for a demonstration. There was a violinist, a violist, and a cellist. That day I fell in love with the viola because it was a perfect cross between its violin and cello counterparts. I was also selected to perform with them on a drum because I just HAPPENED to beat it at the same tempo as the piece they would be performing later…which was the one we heard here in the video. Holy heck TwoSet had rekindled my desire to learn music a long time ago, but this one just relit a fire in me. And I was actually able to follow them on my flute! (I have a viola and a flute)
As an Italian with zero studies in Spanish, it always amazes me how much I understand when a Spanish person speaks. Of course several words are completely different and I miss a lot, but I almost always get the gist of what they are saying. I could follow Roberto without the English subtitles. Although we are all three derived from Latin, this doesn't really happen with French. Anyway, thanks for the laughters guys!
@@yadiracamacho499 I speak French and Spanish, mastering both languages help a lot to understand Italian. But I can confirm that Italian and Spanish are closer compared to French (especially when it comes to the pronunciation).

I agree 100% with your comment. But since you're not a Spanish speaker (I assume), I just wanted to point out as an FYI: His name is Roberto, and "Don" is like saying "Mister," but it's only used before the first name in Spanish. It's like a way of addressing a man both in a friendly way, while being respectful at the same time (otherwise, you would say "Señor" before the last name, if you want to be 100% formal). For women it would be "Doña" or "Señora"

Roberto is a great teacher! The guys really understood a lot of basic stuff in a very short period of time, and Brett seems to be a natural. btw, the dizziness is from wasting so much air, when you don't direct it at the tone hole properly.

Edit: me equivoqué en el nombre de Don Roberto 🤧
Es Don Roberto, jeje.
No es Arturo😂
Don Roberto, es una chulada para enseñar sin necesidad de que entiendan las palabras. Increíble este video! 🤍

Enjoyed reading your comment very much (with Google translate 😁). It was clear and well spoken; much more than I thought a translated comment would be.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRETT
may Ling-Ling shower you with motivation to practice 41 hours a day today ❤️

Don Roberto was just playing with them for the Mendelssohn 4 mil concert!
Yep🤧
As a flautist, this is HILARIOUS! I felt the dizziness as that was how it is when you first start. Ah I should also have tried the tiptoeing method to hit the octaves. HAHA
I love how they throw themselves into every challenge. They always manage to pick the perfect teachers as well
I've never played the flute but it seems like the kind of instrument that would be difficult to get any sound from whatsoever in the first lesson.
@@herna962 oh yeah that makes sense lol
@Simon McCreath I’d assume that’s mostly an embouchure problem, but it could certainly be a mix of both! Just practice 40hrs a day and I’m sure you’ll get it!!!
The teacher's name is Roberto, not don
I love this!! It was funny seeing Eddy and Brett interpret (and misinterpret) the Spanish explanations. Overall I'm impressed that most things were communicated between Roberto and TwoSet pretty accurately despite the language barrier! Loved Roberto's sense of humour and all the jokes. Always breathe (or simply breathe haha) is a good quote to live by
I think this teacher's Spanish is the most beautiful version of Spanish I've heard. Love it.
I have been playing the flute for 8 years, so I went through all that pain and suffer too😂
Edit: Making a sound on the flute is relatively fast, but it takes a while for it to become consistent.
Usually if you don't have it naturally after around 5-6 years, the teacher will help you learn it
Me too!
wait seriously? 💀 welp i guess i can keep my fast-learner title.
um
that’s a little long....
ive been playing for about 5 years and getting a note out wasn’t that difficult and you can usually get it in a day or two
vibrato is a little more of a stuggle, yes, but still not something that usually requires 6-7 years
def not trying to hate on you or anything it just doesn’t comprehend with me
2-3 months for a sound is excessive, most people would quit by then because that would be boring. Everyone ive seen was able to make a sound day one
What kind of students are we talking about? Kids? Adults? I thought Don Roberto explained very well how to make a sound. Basically blow straight in the hole. How would that take months... ._.
I had the honour of playing Syrinx to Mr.Roberto in a masterclass years ago . He was such a nice teacher and very encouraging!
Lo más bello es verles cómo entienden algunas palabras porque suenan similar, y cómo intentan hablar español! Loved this video so much omg

Brett's sound was really nice actually! I'm impressed. Eddy did well too.

That panicked face Brett made when he managed to get a good tone is how all of us flautists feel inside when playing... "Please let me not F this up"

3) make the correct facial expression when needed.

Happy 30th Birthday Brett🎉🎉🎉🎉! God's blessing and all the best for you and everything you do. You guys are amazing.
Brett and eddy are like a hive mind, when Roberto said “professional orchestra” they both just blanked then got it at the same time🤣
Fun fact: People tend to get dizzy when they first start learning flute because they hyperventilate, which decreases carbon dioxide in the blood, causing cerebral vessels to constrict, reducing blood flow to the brain, causing lightheadedness.
Brett's "I can teach you" here is the long-awaited sequel to "I'll tune you" in the 'you triangle you lose' video. Eddy's nervous laughter is really something else👀
HAPPY HAPY 30TH BDAY BRETT! Icant even believe youre 30! You look like 22! We wish you the best and have a great day and have smiles on your face everyday, also eddy!
Now go pratise/prctice the flute.
Me too omg
nice
@@picat3422 Seriously?? Wow.
There's a video by the channel NativLang about French and why it's so different from other romance languages, it's pretty interesting.
@@yadiracamacho499 I speak French and Spanish, mastering both languages help a lot to understand Italian. But I can confirm that Italian and Spanish are closer compared to French (especially when it comes to the pronunciation).
ikr? I'm brazilian and could understand what Roberto was saying too, even with zero studies in spanish.

WOW, I know he’s a professional but I just wanted to say that Don’s (edit: Roberto’s) tone is absolutely fucking beautiful! Good job, Brett & Eddy! I’m proud of you guys trying my favorite instrument 💕
