      Does it come with a desk clamp? I'm really interested in buying the bundle with the pedals along with the SHH Newt2 shifter, which is going to be a huge upgrade from my g29, but don't have the room for a cockpit and want to desk mount.

    The pricing seems great. I saw some people saying they are using logitech wheels and the one thing I can say is invest in your pedals before a wheel. You will see bigger improvements in your driving with good pedals then you will with a DD. I'm my experience.

    • @justpostedagain
      @justpostedagain 2 роки тому +4

      I agree, though a wheel base upgrade is more fun! Personally I put a TrueBrake into my Logitech pedals which I think is a great option if you don't have a rig. Maybe even if you do. Loadcell feel for much less money, then you can get into a new wheel base.

      @@justpostedagain Great point. I guess it depends on if you want to focus on improving and being competitive or if you want a more immersive experience. Ideally you get both but easier said then done sometimes LOL

      That's a fact ! I'm on a Thrustmaster TMX and i wanted to switch to the TS-PC servo after some testing at a friends house, a guy nearby was selling T-CLM pedals for half the price so i jumped on it and it's a night and day difference, so much that i'm going to wait a little to buy some wheels with the servo since i re-discover what my setup can do.

    For the firmware, I was having the same issue. What I did was go to Cammus' site to the downloads area and downloaded the .dfu firmware file. I then pointed my software to the file and got my base flashed (Make sure to check the "manual firmware update" box). Since then, I've been able to use the app to do the auto flashing.
    For the mounting, I have the NLR GT Elite cockpit and I did not want to drill my base. I went to Lowes and picked up 2 L brackets and use them to mount from the side along with the two mounts at the bottom like you have. It's pretty solid. I tried to comment on this before but I think because I put a link in to imgur for a pic of my mounting, youtube deleted the comment.

    I bought the 3 in 1 (wheelbase, wheel, and 3 pedal set) and have to say for under $1k, this is the best bang for your buck setup you can buy today. Mike pointed out the cons, feels like the firmware could really make this hit it's true potential.

    • @DrenTazz
      @DrenTazz 2 роки тому

      why not the csl dd? only because of the 15 nm? cuz i don't really see this as a real competitor to fanatec at this price...

    • @bullit199
      @bullit199 2 роки тому +9

      @@DrenTazz For one, they're not forcing a steering wheel ecosystem on you. You can use any car steering wheel that has a 70mm bolt pattern. Also, I was able to customize my NRG style quick release with some cheaper ones so I basically can switch between my 2 wheels for $50. Then, there's the buttons on the base, perfect for a drift setup so you can return to pit and make adjustments all there. And the pedals are a good value load cell setup (not reviewed here, obviously) that I got to complete the package.

    • @ralphbooger4756
      @ralphbooger4756 2 роки тому +1

      there are adapters for pretty much any wheel base to fit any wheel you want, or they are easily 3d printed.
      hopefully the software will improve with cammus, fanatec software is good but then they have a lot of hardware issues...
      even before the dd wheels, and also, at least in the past, have had a reputation for taking a very long time getting wheels that are sent back for repair returned to the customer, i know of one personally that had to wait almost 5 months for the return of his wheel after it had stopped working just a couple of weeks after purchasing it, this happened a long time ago though, might be better now.
      but products from a company in that price range with a consistent reputation of hardware failure through the years is not good!

    Taking the fact that it's around 100$ cheaper than Fanatec for me it sounds like a decent deal. Still. With the prices of 800+ dollars I would prefer a set of coilovers for my car rather than a racing wheel.

  • @CYMotorsport
    @CYMotorsport 2 роки тому +2

    Edit: to be clear, that was a positive comment on the wheel. It should cost more - or atleast the market would support that.
    As someone who builds their own button boxes, essentially pricing their wheel around $200 they have to be eating money on that. That doesn’t even make sense

    From what I understand, the magnets in the shifters are very easily replaceable and you can use heavier gauss magnets to get a different feel.
    If you're in communication with the manufacturer maybe suggest they include extra magnets with different strengths so one can get the feel they want.
    Being that it's a new product that is basically meant for the Chinese market, there's probably going to be a lot of firmware/software updates getting it right. I'm guessing in 6 months it's going to be top quality as long as it's well built.

    I feel like Fanatec may have been the cause for our little DD revolution. The DD1/2 and now specifically the CSL DD causing competition to form.
    Remember folks, monopolies are bad, when you have competition in the market place, it's us that gets the best end of the deal.
    CSL DD, Moza and now this. Honestly, if you have pedals already. The moza and this seems like an amazing deal.
    Or if you want a complete kit. But course you can't b just mount this DD to a desk or any flimsy rig. Yet this may edge out the DD1 AND 2.
    My DD2 runs at 9 to 12nm peak, I feel that's my sweet spot for feel, detail and so forth. This DD can easily handle that, is tempting me.

    • @peteg1696
      @peteg1696 2 роки тому

      I have to disagree with you there, fanatec was completely behind the ball with DD's and there first release with the DD1/2 was terrible and the dd2 was a real when i got my hands on it, if i had of been a regular consumer and i went from there clubsport base to there DD i would have been devastated. i think overtime they got it working ok with firmware updates but the amount of issues and breakages i have no interest in revisiting there hardware, the CSL DD release was also behind the mark they just released it to try and get into that lower price DD range and took a bunch of money and then just delayed it for ages, the days of fanatec being the leaders or as you have put it as "revolutionary" are long gone and were before the time of DD wheels, they had the market and there youtubers and stayed relevant, but yeah nah

    I know nothing about these but arent they just really nice game controllers? Please educate me but I think $500 for a controller that doesnt come with pedals and a bunch of software Is a Krazy price. Is this a budget model? @@RedLine0069 Its not just the settings on the Fanalab. You will have to tweak the individual game's settings as well. Try playing with the scale of the wheel rotation and force intensity. I got AC to have as close as RL possible using CM extra gain and filter, scale and minimum force tweaks with nearly all default Fanalab settings. Then I base this to match my other games to replicate what I get from AC. AMS2 is not bad but needs a lot of trial and error plus it is inconsistent with brake feel settings across their cars. AMS2 has taken me the longest to work out and it can do it well but not as refined in their implementation compared to ACC or how the Kunos devs code.

    Bizarre that ACC, a game that many consider the benchmark for FFB is dead on the Cammus. I run my DD2 at 50% on ACC, so peaking at 12.5 nM and it's incredibly detailed and sharp - it's definitely the sweet spot for power range, but it seems like the Cammus software is just losing something in translation for you :/
