Great bakkie overall and looks amazing. But with that top of the range at R1m, one will have to really think hard and consider what you spending your R1m on. For now, I feel like I would have gone for the Ranger if I uad a million to spend on a bakkie but I havent really looked deeply at what you get and what you loose between it and the Ranger. Are the tech features enough to sway a decision? Not sure.
I heard the secret compartment is to store those small handbag umbrellas so it you don't have to bring it into the car and wet the floor. Nice and detailed. Great job.
Great review. For me this is too much of a stylish bakkie and not a farm bakkie. Great looking bakkie overall for heading to malls. For workhorse bakkies simple buttons and less sensors will do.
Man young South Africans are buying these Chinese cars like candy, i was skeptical at first but now im considering one, im seeing a lot of my friends and family switching from german to Chinese brands, interesting times indeed
Refreshing review angle👍🏾. No qualms about pricing. A black edition may do justice tho. Flying off the radar as well. The brand needs to improve aftersales support and the customer care service something that is abused by established brands.
German brands are about to make a huge comeback because it seems Chinese brands are now becoming as expensive as german cars, and if the consumer has to choose between Chinese and German, i have no doubt German Engineering will win hands down
Thanks for the comment and for watching! I'm not sure bout that though.. spec for spec the Chinese far out-weigh the Germans, and their price points are still way lower. But the Germans definitely need to adjust accordingly for sure.
@@GregDennisReviewsTotally agree with you on that one, but the Germans have a reputation, and with prices being the same across Chinese and German brands, the choice then becomes reputation and status, which I would argue that the Chinese haven't established those aspects of their brands yet, but I get your point.
@@LuxuryArchived but german cars are still on average more expensive for their size class compared to their Chinese counterparts. Look at the Tiguan size class for example. Chinese cars are cheaper then them and offer more spec than similar rivals. You would only consider a german as used car after the prices fall to reasonable levels. And those are often after 3-4 years and thousands of kilometers later on. The P500 is priced at the upper level of the bakkie market so it will be tougher sell but atleast its established thanks to the Steed and P series unlike others which are newer entrants and still need to prove hence they are selling at the low end. The Tank 500 is in a similar position but the large 4x4 SUV market/rivals is large if you consider rivals like the LC300, Patrol, Discovery, GLS etc as competitors which it then becomes alot cheaper but when you look at Everest/Prado being the main competitors than its inline with pricing. So with the Tank it depends on which perspective you look at it.
@@m2ngwa89 observe the price increase rate of the Chinese cars compared to German cars, the Chinese are increasing thier prices at higher rates compared to the Germans, The Haval H6 which used to be cheaper than the Mazda CX-5 is now more or less in the same price range.
@@LuxuryArchived indeed especially in the case of Haval...it's definitely climbed up in price. With it being generally R60k cheaper than the Cx5 across trim levels but I would still say that it offers better value. Your knowledge is VERY LIMITED. GWM is NO 1 in China in bakkie development for decades... Thats a combined years of experience of all these German and Japanese brands you trust... Spot on! Just to further mention, YOU ARE NOT JOKING AT ALL like some of the other brand-stuck morons would be saying here! It is indeed much better for a million in our market!
Read all of this and see why not to by any P-series. With the other P-series not getting any software upgrades to fix all the problems, i.e Lane assist breaking through solid white and yellow lines, "Turbo lag" which is actually accelerator delay 2-3 seconds, Cruise control can't pickup speed on slightly elevated hills, Voice activation system engages without command given, Climate control changes from cold to hot and from hit to cold without human selection, false tyre presure alarms. the dash screens can be properly dimmed at night...... the list goes on. You will see that within 6 months, they will offer discounts from 150k-200k because the sales are going to be sooooo bad. How can a company not update their problems on a car and then think people are going to buy another later "better" version. Unfortunately, I bought the P-series LT for my wife and it is not a bakkie for a farm. You need a kidney belt with that suspension.
@@carlosfigueiredo9123 True, if they keep at it they'll definitely lose market share, I was routing for the Chinese, but it seems they're prematurely increasing thier prices to their own peril.
It's about resale value. Hilux you virtually get your money back to put towards the next one. Chinese....you'll be lucky to get half the money back towards your next one. Nothing to do with the onboard toys, they are gimmicks that cost peanuts to attract the short sighted.
They'll decrease the price very soon cos almost no one wants an expensive Chinese Bakkie what I can not take away from it is the fact that it's better specced in STD form. With this power it was supposed to close a big gap from the Raptor in terms of speed. Am sure if this van can be dynoed would make less than 200Kw not anything close to that 255kw
Never knew GWM stands for Great Wall Motors. Not exactly an awe inspiring name for a vehicle. A lot of plastic for a lot of money. Toyota is more value for money when it comes to durability and reliability.

But this is slow too for the price. And we can't ignore what the owners have been reporting about these P series bakkies. Issues with sensors and turbo lag. And not to mention the biggest issue here, when you decided to sell it, it would have lost half it's value. I don't think it's anywhere near the hilux. Not a hilux fan but I don't think you can compare these bakkies as yet. I'm yet to see any P series with over 100k km and still functioning properly.

Totally agree!
The value for this car is unmatched

Thank you 😋
Sleek design for a bakkie🎉🎉🎉
I love that it has wireless charging at the back on the centre arm rest

Mr how much loves the sunroof on P500.. prices on the tank and P500 is bit high considering what the Toyota and ford are offering..
They’re high for what we’re used to. But like for like… they don’t have the same spec for the price.

Is that a Seiko or a Casio Classic watch? Just Curious... 😅
It’s a Casio 👍🏼
Heated and cold seats in the front and rear? Split tail-gate, technology, safety features... At that price, it might be a steal.
Agreed! A lot of people aren’t seeing it that way
