- In this video I add a small Spal fan to my oil cooler! It was a pretty easy thing to do since I already had ran wiring for my original cooling fan I added to the machine. This fan is smaller and more compact, can be hidden and is mounted directly to the oil cooler so it pull air right through the cooler. Hopefully this will help keep it cool in the summer heat on the slow trails we ride through!

thanks for the help< im racing in georgia this weekend and my honda 400x over heated at the last race, and cracked my piston but the van is gonna help a ton with my heat.
It helped a ton with mine. Also I'd suggest a bigger oil tank if you don't have one already
got the extra oil cooler, the difference is drematic@@AthenaOffroad
Awesome! I'm glad it worked out!
@@IsaiahHall308XC how many degrees?
This is the first video that I seen putting the fan the correct way ,,,well done friend..........how did you come up with the name Athena offroad ,,,I'm asking because its Greek.............greetings from Greece
My dog is named Athena 😀 and thanks! Hopefully the video helped!
@@AthenaOffroad yes it did thanks!!
👍👍👍
Wonder how metal zip ties (with rubber between them and the frame) would hold up
Probably better honestly
How is that Ammo can attached? I need to add that to mine for tools in the field. Thanks.
I have a video on how. I did it! Just look.through my videos for it. It's called adding storage container or something like that. I have everything I ever would need on a ride in there!
Is that a celica gts? I had a gts and loved it, it was black just like yours
Yes it is. It's been sitting for a while now I actually just drove it for the first time in about 4 months. Thinking about selling it. This one's a 6 speed
Did this work better than the bigger fan or did you keep both fans on the 400
I got rid of the the bigger fan and just kept the smaller one. It works way better than the bigger one because it's directly drawing air through the oil cooler
@@AthenaOffroad how many degree's? temp
What gauge is the power and negative wire? Thanks
I would say 12-14 I can't remember exactly and I no longer have this atv unfortunately. Hopefully that helps!
Can you post a video on how to install the switch also put what switch to buy I'm doing the same thing to my 400ex and need some help
The switch is just a simple toggle switch you can buy at any hardware or automotive store.
All you have to do is cut a hole in the plastic the same size as the switch and slide it through and tighten the nut that comes with the switch
Thank you
What did you do to wire it to the switch though to make it work like what Connectors etc.
Your welcome man!
hey im gonna do this exact set up, running the positive from the battery and negative from the chassis wont be a problem but how hard is it to add that switch for the fan. Also, how long did those plastic zip ties last on the spal fan? im hoping they worked out because im not trying to fabricate a bracket just for the fan.
I sold the ATV long ago unfortunately but they lasted me until I sold it. Adding a switch is just about as easy as adding the wire to the batter and chassis! Super easy to do
@@AthenaOffroad thank you for the quick response, just ordered a spal fan and a toggle switch last night. I'll let you know how it works for me once I get the time to it.
@@Ninoo187 awesome! Sounds good I'll be waiting to hear from ya!
@@AthenaOffroadquick question, is it better if you add a relay to the circuit??
Probably be safer but I don't think I did. I think I only did that for my lights
Does the fan blow air into the oil cooler or pull air from the cooler bro?
It's a puller. Pulls air through the cooler onto the motor
Do you have the link for the fan?
Yes give me a sec sorry
I added the link to the description, but here it is also amzn.to/3AmvYwP
@@AthenaOffroad ok thanks
Can you give a link to that fan
Yes sorry I forgot to add it to the description. It will be Whole before I'm able to but if you look up spal fan 4 inch puller it will pop up on eBay and amazon
@@AthenaOffroad thanks ive been wanting to put one on my 440
It seems to help out a ton man it really does
@@AthenaOffroad yea better than buying a 300$ oil tank lol
Yes way better lol 😆 I'd like to get that tank but I'm gonna be honest I'm probably gonna sell the 400
With the fan mounted this way; isn’t it just pulling hot air from motor and blowing it on the cooler?
No it's taking cool air and blowing it on the motor
@@AthenaOffroadso does this pull air from the oil cooler and blow air into the engine bro? Just wanting to see what way to mount my fan
It pulls air through the oil cooler @@carloscuevas164
Jesus loves you
Thanks
It dose not need one its honda
Eh that's debatable, riding through slow trails the machine will tend to over heat because not enough air flow is getting to the oil cooler. So in my case it seems to help out alot of that heat soak that happens esp with the clutch
Hey here's a logical idea use metal zip ties
What's illogical about plastic ones
Nothing is illogical ab plastic ones. If you would have used metal ones they would say use plastic.
That is very true
