Because cars in Indycar are similar, only difference is the engine. In F1, teams have to design their own cars with only a few parts that are shared between teams. Some designs work, some don't and some teams bring in crazy ideas. If you want closer racing, you should also follow F2.
Really recommend turning into F1 for this Season! The new car looks to be great for racing, all 3 races where similarly exciting to the IndyCar races of this year, if not even fought out closer. It's a great year for racing, so please don't go into things with a negative mindset.
just curious, do teams not monitor their competitor's lap times like in F1? During the race, it felt like everybody was surprised when Palou managed to undercut Herta & Newgarden
Herta lost a couple of seconds on his in lap which helped Palou undercut him. When Herta crashed, he was on his in lap for another pit stop making sure it didn’t happen again and lost it.
Check out Zach Veach's fire at the 2018 Indy 500, and Felix Rosenqvist's at the 2019 Indy GP. Both of those were likely caused by leaky fuelers, and were before the extinguisher gets sprayed, but still. The idea is that the water prevents the fuel from igniting when it hits the engine, exhaust manifold, or any other very hot part.
I have a Premium Peacock account and I'm forced to watch these highlight videos because the race is chalk full of ads (with a "Premium" ad free account!!) It's honestly ridiculous. If Indycar wants to grow the way Formula1 is growing in the US, they need to understand how F1 manages to show the entire race ad free.
F1 doesn’t have commercials because ESPN pays little for the international feed and Mother’s Polish provides a chunk of cash to ESPN. They have little invested and ignore it. F1 TV ratings in the US are the same or a little worse than Indycar and equal to NASCAR Xfinity. Practice and Qualifying are cut up with commercials as well. And 99% of IndyCar commercials are sandwiched in Side by Side along with the race.
I’m guessing they removed the rule that says you can only change your line once. Newgarden was driving like a drunk man. Grosjean will gettum next time.
@@steveoconnor7069 new chassis (still a Dallara spec, no competition) maybe, but engine wars? Don't think so. IndyCar doesn't even let Chevy or Honda develop these engines to keep them affordable...

Romain Grosjean performance here almost kinda supports the cheeky comments made by Sir Lewis Hamilton comparing Indy Car drivers to F1. Something F1 should take note from IndyCar with coverage is the onboard GoPro Hero cam when one car overtakes another and the cam follows alongside. This is way better than the drivers eye cam on F1 because they have elected not use GoPro. Whatever cam technology F1 is using for the drivers eye view is so rubbish and unstable at speed.
it doesn't support Hamiltons comments at all. if anything it supports the comments from out side of F1 that say F1 is the worst series when it comes to determining who the "best driver" is.
"Sir" Lewis would get all tired out trying to steer race cars with no power steering. He's such a privileged little baby anyway. Isn't he whining about having to remove his jewelry before races now? Geez what a whiner!
I absolutely disagree. The biggest part of Long Beach is pit strategy. When to stop, maximizing your in/out laps, when to run the alternate tires and how to use your allotted fuel & push to pass within the announced race distance. Adding laps to the end of a race for entertainment destroys all of that. It's why I don't watch NASCAR anymore. Hopefully IndyCar is smart enough to not go down that road.
Is there a reason why IndyCar should go the pro wrestling route like NASCAR? This isn’t a stick and ball sport. The race is an exact length and strategized for that length. There’s no such thing as an Indianapolis 505, the 12 and 3/4th Hours of Sebring, or the 24.43837562 Hours of LeMans.
I don’t live in America and so it’s GREAT that I can watch this stuff on UA-cam. Thanks!!! 🚀🇺🇸🙏
I hope Grosjean gets his win next time. He drove very well.
If he was brought up on NASCAR bs then he'd have thrown up inside in a contact/let's see who breaks pass. Grosjean WILL win races

2022 Indy 500 and 2023 Indy 500 for me > 2023 MotoGP Season in its entirety.
Man, that was fun to watch. Super-good race, action and, commentary. Indycar does it again.
IndyCar, much like IMSA, always nailed amazing on track commentators and amazing on track battles unlike F1, ever since 2009.
huh normally thsi took ages for them to upload it. nice that they are faster.
I'm like lets goo Grosjean podium is yours!!
GOD this was such a banger of a race. Instant classic!
Redemption for 2014. Heck yeah Josef!!
Newgarden and Palou great stuff, this boys sure put on a great show on lap 58. Grosjean had a good race, can't be far away from winning a race.
Newgarden and Palou are guaranteed future IndyCar GOATS.
good race, Tatiana, colombian proud!
Really? The girl is there for promotional purposes only... she's not minimally competitive.
Nah... She ain't no Danica Patrick... 🙃
Awesome race for Grosejan! Can't wait to see him win!

Grojean never said that, it was his engeneer who said that on the radio.

3 victories for Penske in a row. What a start for the season.
Yoshiko Tsushima: I think Ericsson hit us.
Ericsson to Yoshiko: Really, Yoshiko-chan?
Amazing race
Good race win and good to see the Aussie's doing well
Which Aussie? Power is in the best team yet he hasn't challenged for a title in a long time... and McLaughlin and Dixon are Kiwis.
Dalton Kellett, the Latifi of Indycar.
You mean Goatifi 🐐

More excitement then most F1 races. How can F1 get it so wrong yet Indycar get it so right

they monitor lap times, but because strategy in IndyCar is a lot less straight forward than F1 you sometimes see surprises.
Herta lost a couple of seconds on his in lap which helped Palou undercut him. When Herta crashed, he was on his in lap for another pit stop making sure it didn’t happen again and lost it.
Epic ending, minus the last lap. Taku is done. Oval or 500s only for him. Roman was so close!!!
Taku is who he's always been... but he keeps the Japanese fans interested in IndyCar, so he's got a guaranteed spot.
Everytime surprises me that this is more entertaining then F1. Did Rossi or MacLaughing receive any penalties?
I hope they upload post race interview for the top 3 too... Not only the podium winner
This is not F1. There are no mandatory top 3 interviews. The TV crews decide who they speak with.

IndyCar uses ethanol which dilutes in water far faster than gasoline.

This series is in desperate need of a new chassis (or multiple chassis') and engines. It has basically been the same since 2012.

no race should end under a caution what a let down let everyone come in for fuel and tires and give them a couple laps
Thats what NASCAR is for. F1, IMSA, WEC races can all end under caution. IndyCar doesnt need to become a NASCAR Junior.
