28 year old Brit here who has watched F1 since the age of 5/6. A few years ago I started giving Indycar a chance and tried to follow it as much as I could. Well, let's just say I'm extremely happy that I did... almost at a stage where I look forward to Indycar more than F1 now!
Exactly the same for me. 30 years old now, I'm watching my 5th Indycar season. Watched at least 20 years F1 before. Indycar is way more interesting if you want to see good old-school racing like F1 was 10 years ago. F1 got better again since last year, but I still prefer Indycar.
Indy car won this weekend. F1 was about one driver getting third, NASCAR was a yawn fest. Indy produced drama, tactics, teams giving it their all and of course fearless driving that comes from safe cars and brave drivers. I’m so glad I watched all the seasons from Mansell onward through lockdown. Thank you for putting them up on UA-cam. As a - British - racing fan, all the drivers and teams have my absolute respect. Didn’t know they were competing against each other? So ex f1 drivers only became fearless when they entered Indy car? And McLaren Indy car team gives it their all more than McLaren f1 team?

@BlowoutJoe i was not talking about the crashes, they added to the entertainment, but it was not ridiculous, like Nashville a couple of years back. Actually, the crash I felt most gutted about was the Grosjean McLaughlin, such a shame when the battle for the lead ends like that. The racing was extremely good, but it was mostly a mental battle, not a pure skill one. You had to stay focused, don't push to much when there was nothing to gain and choose how to position your car to avoid all the chaos.
@BlowoutJoe evidently your not a red blooded American, if you were, you'd like a good crash. Drivers know the risk, and I'm of the opinion that it's the uneducated fans that aren't used to the idea of risk. But I digress. We do live in the woke/ me first generation after all.....
Huge Formula 1 fan. I went to the Indy 500 last year and loved it. I have been following more of Indy car slowly and I gotta say that my Indy interest has been rising. Amazing race weekend. Definitely better than the Bahrain Race
You can't compare Indycar to F1 in terms of racing because Indycar teams don't make their own cars and engines. The reason why F1 is better and more popular because there is also a development race between teams besides the actual racing.
Lifelong F1 fan from the UK here, this was so much more exciting than the Bahrain GP, will definitely be watching these fast forwards for the rest of the season
If you could I would recommend you to watch a whole race. Some things aren't in these compressed versions, especially on street courses when a lot of stuff is happening around the track.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a race! Wall to wall excitement! I have really missed Indy Car over the winter (they really need more races in a season and that is my only criticism). I have said it before and I will keep saying it, this is the best racing on the planet. Quality drivers, circuits and teams. Big respect to Indy Car for putting this on YT. What a race... I would've liked to have heard Pato's post race interview to hear him describe what happened on Ericsson's overtake in those final laps... I was bummed for Pato.
I was right there in the crowd. So fun! One thing I like better about Indycar VS Formula 1 is we could actually get tickets and go to a race. I like both F1 and Indycar.
This is the first time I get to watch a full Indycar season and what a way to start! Bit annoyed with my driver Scott McCaughlin making a bit of a mess of things but plenty of racing still to come!
These races are so exciting. Exposes the dullness of F1 despite 97 trillion dollars being spent (allowing for slight exaggeration) and the F1 hypocrisy of proclaiming its support of human rights while taking money from saudi arabia. 🙄 Not to mention these excellent highlight packages that, again, make make F1 look amateurish. Mind you, does F1 have highlights? The start maybe? lols
related to the collision starting 19:58 : sloppy move by Mclaughlin (at best). at worst it looks like he puts in some left steering angle right at the end when Grosjean is alongside. He knew he couldn't make that corner on cold tires. wasn't a fan of how that ended.
@@jonathanb.4305 and turning the steering wheel into the turn while losing the rear end will cause you to spin, in this case into your opponent. again, a basic understanding of racing would tell you that.
@@B-A-L I got an offer this year for £21 per month, but every year it's constant checking to see if there's an offer, and I'm not always so lucky, so I miss out - and unlike F1, there's no IndyCar highlights on the telly which makes it even more difficult to follow (whilst also avoiding the result!).

Big fan of grosjean… but he caused this crash! Scott was ahead, and had the inside line. He braked before grosjean and would have made the corner easily. Grosjean was impatient and jaded that he lost position. Grosjean ran into scott. It was never on for him on that corner.
Why not put up a safer barrier instead of all these stacks of tires on certain turns. It would make the racing so much better. It was just too much cautions in this race.

Romain was alongside in the braking zone and was clearly entitled to fair racing room on the outside. Scott fumbled the turn and crashed both of them out. There's no two ways about it.

In this case, the racing line is the outside, and Scotty was on the dirty part of the track, off the racing line. You meant to say he had the inside line. If he's side by side with another driver on the outside, which he was, he has a responsibility to slow down enough to maintain control of the car, make the corner and not tank into the car on the outside. In his post-race interview, he accepted the blame, because he was on cold tyres and on the dirty side of the track, and he tried to out-brake Grosjean on hot tyres on the clean part of the track, carried too much speed, locked his rear tyres and went straight into him.
Mclaughlin ruined what was shaping up to be a great race! If Indycar doesn't fine and suspend Mclaughlin for dangerous driving, Indy racing isn't worth watching! That was Max Verstappen style racing, if you are getting past and going to lose, wreck the other driver! It's why I stopped watching F1!👎👎👎👎 my opinion without prejudice 🦂
If you rewatch, you see he locks the rear tyres and loses control of the car going into the corner. It was reckless in the heat of the moment but not dangerous or dirty. Mclaughlin accepted the blame, and apologized to Grosjean for taking him out. They're mates off the track.
That wasn't his fault, he braked late and had the overlap but Mclaughlin either just locked up the rears or let off the brakes to get back ahead before he locked the rear brakes; either way it was Scotty's fault if anyone's I hate to say

There is no way around in this corner with all the marbles and he didn´t learn a bit. I really respect Grosjean for his racing spirit. He is a pure racer but he lacks some decision making abilities. With his warm tires he could have gotten Scotty Mc in the next couple corners easily. We really need a cam from Scotty facing straight forward, I believe he was perfectly in line.

Pato has ANOTGER race slip from him due to an odd engine malfunction in the intake plenum or something.
