Contest is over. Venlab Meter is only $31.99 ($29 with Business account) amzn.to/45eZXFH
31.99 for meter on my end
@@thdevilmancometh I see. I'm currently logged in Amazon as a business account. They give a $2 discount for businesses. If the manufacturer sends me a rebate code I'll make sure to update the link.
@@jeffescortlx Ya and i just noticed i get a 12% coupon. Didnt see that at first. So it kinda works out the same lol.
This meter looks like a real bargain. We need one.
I could use the multimeter!
Still running the 03 GMC cluster you repaired for me a few years ago!
Throwing in for the meter. I like the keyhole hanger, magnetic mount and voltage detector! Thx.
love to be the new owner of the multimeter. you fixed my dash cluster awhile back and it still works great. love your videos.
Great teaching video, that multimeter seems very durable.
I have a suzuki cluster that I could use that meter on. Currently using an Archer radio shack meter. Great video.
Thanks for the give away. But please give it to someone who can't afford it as well as I can. I'm too well off to need giveaways. I just appreciate you doing it.
Hey glad to see you back with another video. I might pick up this meter if I don't happen to be lucky enough to win one.
Love your videos, love free multimeters more.
Send it to Michigan.
Thank you
Thanks Jeff for the reminder of that particular fix.
I'd like to have that meter, BUT, I'd rather it go to a subscriber of yours that doesn't already have six or eight multimeters already like me. 😅
I'll add my 2 cents. I would like to own it. Long time fan of your channel.
Always learn something useful from your videos. Would love to give the meter a try.
Got worried about you Jeff, haven’t seen a new video in a while. Glad you’re back! Ol by the way I could use the meter.. Thanks
Love the videos. Also would love a new meter! Thanks for putting them online.
2005 Pontiac GP cluster: I've have problems with intermittent cluster connections in the past. I replaced the clusters and it's been 98% fine. But, I had been thinking I was wrong all that time i.e. some bad connection. Now, with this video I'll have to see some other time if other clusters are still good. Thanks.
Ecellent vid….. been waiting for new one, would love to have the meter but most importantly thanks for going through the repair.
I would love the multimeter! Great videos as always!
Thank you for your videos! Also fixed my dash years ago.
I would love a new meter!
I'd certainly appreciate a new multimeter. Good video!
Excellent informative information. Looks like a very well made product. Thanks for sharing. Artie 👍
thanks for the useful info Jeff!
That looks like a great multimeter! I would love to add that to my tool bag!!!
Could always use a solid, well tested meter. Thanks for the video!
Nice work as always!!
I'll be glad to take it. Thanks!
Could definitely use the multimeter.
Keep up the great videos
Nice video. Keep up the good work. I will like the multimeter
Love your videos! Could definitely use that meter, im in GA. If not, I hope someone else who really needs it, gets it. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing the video.
I could use a good used multimeter. Please pull my name out of your hat! Keep up the great videos. I have learned tons from you.
Solid meter, would really be nice to have. Thanks for the videos!
Would love to have the multimeter. I have been trying to learn all I can about the different uses of multimeter and different types of meters to understand what each of the setting do and how to use them to be if it is in differ ways we never realized. For that reason alone I find myself watching videos from some channels that normally I would have no desire to know about what they are fixing but do have a desire to find out the added values of tools we already own I hope this made sense of what I am referring too. Thanks for posting the videos you do.
I'd love that new meter. Started working at GE Aerospace so I can definitely use a new meter.
Another great repair video. Meter looks like a great bargain, like the magnet to hold it at the work area, that would be handy. I'm interested in winning the meter!
sure could use a good meter.great video Jeff
Very nice! hope to get selected!
Would be nice to have a Multimeter. Nice video!
Good info! Would love that meter!
I really need this, thanks
Nice fix thank you for sharing
you do great work... mine is still working great
It would look pretty nice to have one of those
I would like to have a new meter, I’m using a 27 year old Fluke 77 and it works great, but a second one in the truck would be awesome.
Great video good see you back on and I like to have merer
Looks like a great meter! Would look good in my toolbox :)
I could use a new multimeter. Thanks for the videos jeep up the good work.
i 'd like to have a nice, proven meter! Also, now know what to look for if i ever get an '05 GM
Love to have this meter.
Hey Jeff! My old Napa multi-meter just gave up the ghost a couple weeks ago. I've been managing to get by with the ol' analog meter to this point. This one would make a great replacement!
😉!
Enjoy your videos I could use a good multi meter. Thanks
Nicely done. Would love to have the multimeter!
Would love to have a new multimeter, thanks.
Great video. I always like the content and the repairs are extremely interesting. Please put me in the raffle. Thank you.
Great videos! I would love to win this meter.
Would love to own and test out a Venlab meter!!!
I want it, you video help me thank you
I would love to have this meter.
Been a long time lurker, I enjoy your videos. I’d love to win the meter!
Send me an email at 1mr.repairman@gmail.com
Nice meter
I’d like to try it out as well, see if I could try not to nuke the other lead 😂
Yes please. 🎉
I would love to have that meter. It would help me out. The large LED is easy to see. I live in Georgia.
👍SEND IT* YOU ROCK🤘
Would be a nice upgrade from my harbor freight multimeter
I'd Love to receive this to replace my old Weston Roadrunner.
Nevermind, I just purchased one. :)
@@joehohnyou won't be disappointed. The Amazon reviews are very positive also.
Hey Jeff! Can you offer any help with this 07 Escalade cluster? Apparently the blinking needle glow is fixed by red lashing the cluster but I have no dump file or method for these NNBS clusters. Any help or advice is appreciated!
I'm sorry but I'm not able to reflash these at this time either.
Have you tried using the temperature probe? I might have to pick one up because I need a meter that can do capacitance and would be nice to calibrate my Chinese t12 station.
Does buying through your link help you? I owe you one for that bin file you sent. That got my 06 escalade cluster up and running in my 02 truck which is by far my favorite mod I done
I didn't get around to testing the temperature probes. But I assume it works as intended, I see there are quite a few other review videos and everyone seems pretty pleased with this meter. Also the Amazon reviews are very positive. Yes it's an affiliate link I have in the top pinned comment and description. So I will get a small kickback from Amazon for the people that purchase one using my link.
would like the opportunity to give this multimeter a new home
What kind of wire do you use for the jumper wire? And what coating do you use for thermal coating on the back of the cluster ? Thank you for the good videos.
For long jumpers I use magnet wire, AKA electromagnetic wire/transformer wire. The coating is conformal coating for PCBs.
@@jeffescortlx thank you
Jeff do you work on downrigger mother boards ?
I could use a new multimeter, the one I have been using I have had since 1992. It has been dropped a couple times over the years and is being held together with painters tape.
I want it!
Ooow you bodger, a bit of cruddy enameled wire to restore power.
The electrons could be flowing the wrong way lol.
Leg pulleth :-D
Well done, another cluster back from the jaws of death :-D.
Current shunts in meters are quite forgiving.
Interested in the Meter and thanks for the tutorial on cluster repair. Do you have access to schematics or are you going from component identification?
By the time I got my hands on schematics, I had already had a good idea on how everything worked and where everything was by reverse engineering. I can also use a good board to compare against a bad board. Component identification works for about 60%, but they like to use a lot of house numbers that don't cross to what they really are.
I hear you about the house numbers. I waste more time crossing components as good boards as most things today are hard to come by and you always risk a little probing them. Thanks
I have an 06 silverado that the cluster gauges were going in and out while driving. I had it sent off for repair and still does the same just less frequently. I told the person it was still doing it and he says it may be going bad and could get me another cluster. After further digging, I find that when I wiggle the plug it makes the cluster flicker. What are your thoughts on this? Bad cluster, repair job or dash plug?
The voltage divider for the 8 pin adjustable voltage regulator has fractured joints.
@@jeffescortlx is that something you can fix/replace or time for another cluster?
@@2009KVFD976 it can definitely be repaired. I see this issue from time to time. Although it's not fair to you to pay to rebuild it twice. Who did the first rebuild?
@@jeffescortlx it was a local marketplace ad. (Insert facepalm here) he was at least willing to refund me.
The capacitor tester would be nice since I blew mine up.
I would like to get the meter Jeff. Thanks James
Would love a chance to win. Count me in
Nice meter, I don't need one. 😂
I would use a multimeter. I've inherited one, but it's analog and not digital. Haven't taught myself how to read it yet.
I'd like to be considered for meter giveaway.
Ever mess with a 2004ish Chevy Aveo cluster? Wondering if it uses the same signals from ECU.
Bus signals like engine temp, trans temp, fuel level, oil pressure are universal so probably yes.
The only things I'm concerned with are RPM and tach. I plan to get everything else from a scanner. If I had a blazing fast booting laptop/tablet, and no lag for the software reading, I'd OBD everything.
@@Marc_Wolfe the RPM & MPH might have a dedicated analog wire.
So do gen 3 ECU (optionally for P59/03-07). As long as it's just PWM, I should be able to flash for it. If it is just VPW, hopefully it's as standard as scan tool readings and I can just wire it up.
I would like to attempt to blow the 20 amp fuse.
What’s the easiest way to calibrate the gauges? 03-06 GMT cluster
Power up the cluster with no data serial bus or analog signals, then seat the needles in the home position.
@@jeffescortlx what’s a good home position?
@@jtespinoza4606The starting position of the needles.
That meter looks good and useful. I have a 2005 silverado. The gear indicator doesn't come on, Do you know of anyone that fixes them in Central California?
Yes. Follow this link and then look in the description of the video for a list of technicians and their location.
ua-cam.com/video/T_2WnJMsZaU/v-deo.html
Thank you.
I did the 2010 malibu cluster repair with 33 microfarad repair.😊 Now the radio diplay is intermittent. Seen gm radio resolder video. But dude was flying through it. Think you could make a vid?
I don't have a Malibu radio here to fix.
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Multimeter would be cool.
Also, how’d you trace the path for that fix? Just done enough 05 clusters you know where the circuit paths are?
I originally found it by comparing a good working cluster. But yes now I've seen the problem enough to know exactly where to go and what to do.
@@jeffescortlx Smart way to go. I work in the video game industry doing a lot of the same you do, and I can say, when you have a PCB coated with some type of paint that makes it hard to see the traces, it makes my job like 10X more difficult in those cases.
I would like to try to win the multi meter.
I’ve been watching your videos and learning a lot. Makes me want to try fixing mine on a 2010 Nissan Titan. Just ordered a new stepper for the fuel gauge it’s always reading high not sure if that is the actual problem yet
For the Nissan it's probably not the stepper motor. But a self sweep test will confirm quickly and easily. The Nissan's calculate the fuel level at the instrument cluster like Fords do. It's common for them to have fractured solder joints in the resistor network that reads the fuel level. There's also a chance it's a sending unit, but a good scan tool should be able to read the sending unit.
@@jeffescortlx thanks i will check that. I put in a new fuel pump and checked the wiring all the way to the meter.
Thanks! Jeff🔌How's the cat?
Cats are doing great! They didn't make it in this video, busy napping.
This is a shot in the dark, but do you have a video or any info for this happening on a 2004 cluster. This is currently happening to me but intermittently. any info would be greatly appreciated!
If you have intermittent power it's usually caused by fractured solder joints.
Thank you for the response! It’s an intermittent loss of comm with those right 4 gauges at the same time and battery/abs light. I sent it to a cluster repair guy who reflowed all caps and put new steppers but that didn’t fix it. Do you think it’s a solder joint on a chip then? I’m at a loss
@@chrispekas4387did the guy you sent it to confirm that it really is a 2004 PCB? Did he understand the problem you were having?
He did not confirm it was a 2004 pcb and that didn’t even occur to me to ask. I sent him videos and pics of the problem when it would occur. It’s completely random when it happens and only at start up then will clear up whenever it wants lol. All I know is the voltage regulator in mine is 180 degrees the opposite direction of the one in your video here. Are there any giveaways that it’d be a 2004? Because I have pics from when I took it apart
@@chrispekas4387since you're voltage regulator is facing the other direction it is safe to assume that it would be a 2003-2004 PCB design. So it will be different than the one in this video. Either the problem is local to the instrument cluster, or the entire vehicle is losing buss communication and the clusters just the symptom of the vehicle having the problem rather than the source of causing the problem.
I'd like to have the meter. thanks
Would love the meter. Not a 9v battery.
Maybe Ill be the random subscriber who gets a new multimeter 🤞🏽
Hit the like
I could use the multimeter.
Hey, Hi! I would like to see if you could repair my cluster. It’s from a 2010 Chevy, long story short sometimes it would run fine or sometime it just wouldn’t turn on till it stop turning on, so for the last year or so I’ve been using another one that my friend got for me for a really low low price. I could actually send you the one I have on now after and you could use it for parts or what not.
If it works when hot, but not when cold then this is from the batch of 2008+ that have defective microprocessors. Unfortunately I'm not currently setup to replace this chip that requires flashing.
@@jeffescortlx oh no it was intermittent. I seen another cluster you fix but I can’t remember the exact year and it was a while back that I had seen it but it had same issues exactly like mine.
I would like a chance, thanks.
