I had a boat on the Delaware River for many many years and I observed when there is a plane heading down river which is the approach to the airport and that plane is overhead look North up the Delaware River and you will see another plane on its way. It was like that over and over and over again the planes were Non-Stop into Philadelphia Airport .
I am from Uruguay, ex-Pan Am employee. Back in 1961 I remember flying on a Pan Am DC-8 PAR/ NYC and we were diverted to PHL due to weather. First thing I saw upon landing was a large steamer --runway was close to the river or bay, pls correct me if I'm wrong. Rgds
Not always !! I live here in Philadelphia and we can get some wicked weather !!! I worked at PHL in the late 90's and it was one of the best jobs that I ever had !!! 🥰 I worked in the concourse where Delta, Northwest and TWA were located and I had so many wonderful memories. During Christmas time, the gate agents at Delta were holding their party and they brought me a plate of ribs, potato salad and cheesecake ! That southern hospitality in action ! The captain of a Boeing 767 gave me a tour of the cockpit ; ( obviously before 911 would forbid that). He was shocked and pleasantly surprised that I knew so much about jets. That was 27 years ago and those memories were like yesterday🥰. Miss you Bill. LuAnne, Juan, Pam and Chuck thanks for such a wonderful time that I'll never forget. 🤗
I would like to say thanks to everyone who watched, commented, and liked. Have a great new year! This was my first time in Philadelphia.

Love the site of a flight coming in for a landing when it touches down on the runway !

Thanks! It was a nice one!
Philly from the air looks almost civilized......
On the ground it is just another inner city, with all that goes with it.
very true. some changes need to be made locally if the city is ever going to change on a macro scale.
