  • This video is intended for students in the common core of Geology, or any other interested public (high school students for example). It presents the main minerals of sedimentary rocks, in thin section, and it follows a previous video which presented these same minerals in macroscopy. A slide show shows some of these minerals and their main microscopic characteristics.
This video was put online as part of the Sedimentary Rock Petrology Practical Work for the 2nd year of the STU License at the University of Guelma in Algeria (Teacher: Ms. Ruault-Djerrab).
    Video highlights:
    - 0:07: Introduction
    - 1:41: Examples of thin sections with the main minerals of sedimentary rocks (in order: quartz, calcite, muscovite, biotite, glauconite, gypsum, feldspars, pyrite ).
