The 2017 Gibson Les Paul Standard T is a bit confusing

2017 was a weird year for Gibson facing bankruptcy. As a result the 2017 Les Paul Standard T Bourbon Burst is a weird mix of mostly modern specs wearing the Standard model name. I wouldn’t call it a Standard. The Burstbucker Pro pickups and the PCB board with four push pull pots were a weird choice too. If you swap out the pickups you get a good guitar that looks like a LP Standard but has some modern specs.

That is an absolutely gorgeous guitar. I would throw '59 Seymour's in it and call it done.
This guitar you are playing is one of the nicer of 2017, I have the same in honeyburst. The only mod I did was change the saddles to Graphtech White Tusk. For me this guitar win/win offering extra features 😊 with a AAA top❤. The sounds can be produced for sure.
Thin sound could be actually caused by very low string action.
I experienced this on two of my guitars, was thinking about changing pickups (SD JB and Fishman Fluence which I really liked on other guitars), but then I raised up the bridge a bit and it solved the issue completely.
Probably the issue is that strings don't have enough space to move with full amplitude. And in my case I didn't even have a lot of buzz, but the sound was affected.
It is not low string action, the pickups are set accordingly. It is the pickups without a doubt.
If Gibson stock, 498T is sbout 13.75 ohm.
Dirty fingers are about 15.75. I'd recommend those as plug and play factory replacement
Yeah good choice.
I love your video"s Thanks
Thank you, James. Comments like yours keep me going 🤟🏻
I have one of these and I love it. My only complaint is the TekToid nut and string binding. Soon enough I will take it in and get a bone nut cut.
The string binding? What do you mean?
@@GeorgeVGuitars the strings will not slide over nut material freely resulting in tuning stability issues. Especially if your playing style includes a lot of bending. For a $3k guitar I was pissed to discover this. Apparently it’s a common issue with LPs.
@@dragannestorovic01 Ah yes it is unfortunately
@@dragannestorovic01 why don' you just widen the channel a bit? Seems the easiest fix to me.
As for the pickups if the owner is looking for something with more bite and mass as for heavier music that can be chroma/zebra color wise why not a Seymour Duncan? Im pretty sure the SH4 and SH6 come in zebra.
He doesnt like SD :/
The Duncan Custom SH-5 will be a perfect fit for this guitar, IMHO
I think we are going with the BKP Rebel Yell. We both don't like SD and Dimarzio pickups.

Hello I love mine and yours ❤
It sounds like a LP , nothing wrong with te pickup's . Sound is good look in your fingers for rest 😀
Peavey Bandit lol
the pickups sound very dull
They are even worse in the room... recorded they are a bit better.
Sounds like in between a fat tele and a fat Les Paul
Yeah, something like that
