My solution is to wear a beanie outside, a little less strange looking than the dead cat.

I do a lot of outdoors activities and wind noise has been an issue. In the winter, I can just wear a hat. Recently, I have tried the Ear Gear sleeves. They stop the wind noise but you get a little crackling sound from the sleeve itself. Still, much better than the wind noise. ✌🌱

He occasionally provides really good info but a surprising amount is advertisements. People gotta make money though.

Been a while since I watched this channel and I thought this was going to be a helpful video. Guess my only solution is to buy new hearing aids.

For those that have Phonak aids like my P70-UPs, l use the myphonak app to change automatic to comfort in noise program.

What a great hearing aid, too bad they weren’t out nine months ago when I got the Oticon Mores but that’s to be expected and the Mores have changed my life for the better!

Good information Cliff! So how does the Phonak Paradise 50 fare when compared to the newest Oticon?

With my Phonak Life the wind noise is less than my previous brand of hearing aids. Not sure if it’s the compression setting, gortex over the mic or what. Also, wearing a hoodie helps. Some of the fishing shirts have hoodies for the summer weather.

Whenever I roll down my car window and rest my arm on the door’s window frame, the microphone of my Apple Watch sends my iPhone a high-noise-exposure alert. My ears have no direct exposure to that wind noise.
Thanks, Dr Cliff, for explaining the frequency dependence on wind speed!! I never realized that.

When I trialed the Oticon More 1 devices a couple of years ago I was very impressed with how they reduced wind noise, which is my own chief complaint with hearing aids. If their connectivity and app would have worked well for me I would have kept them and been happy with them.

Does my audiologist need to enable this feature or can I do it in the app? I have the oticon real 1's and the hair noise is absolutely awful. I am on a trial and my audiologist said I just have to get used to it. I can't even walk without my long hair brushing the aids and making noise. I kept thinking this isn't normal.

I have Resound Omnia. Setting wind noise reduction on the app seems to help. I'd like to know how much (decibels) that actually helps.

I'm not sure why someone doesn't make a dead cat in the form of a very small foam (dead cat?) sleeve that your HA would slide into. Just enough to cover the mics and thin enough so has not to bulk up your HA. You see these things on every mic of every outside sportscaster and news team. I'm sure they could be scaled down. Even a slight improvement might help your golfers, or outdoor enthusiast.

The ear gear mentioned by a few others is exactly that. It works well but adds a bit of bulk and can make operating program/volume buttons a bit difficult. Overall a good solution.

ear gear helps. Just sucks that most hearing aids the only way to get them on and off is to remove the receiver. Depending on the hearing aid that can require a visit to your audi, unless they give you the tool.

Interesting video. Is the wind reduction option available on all levels of technology on the Oticon Real? I had a trial on the
Oticon Real and didn’t notice much of a change in handling noise. Is this an option that needs to be set by the audiologist or is it a top tier option only? There was some noise but that usually happened when my hands were too close to the hearing aids. Either way, i just need to create a new habit of not brushing my hair after i put my devices in my ears. A wind reduction feature would not be a dealbreaker but i would like to know if it’s available on all levels of technology. On another note, i am trying to decide if i want to upgrade my iPhone so i can use the new voice isolation feature under ios16.4. The option is not available on my current iPhone but most of the newer iPhones no longer have the physical home button at the bottom of the phone. Voice isolation is only available on FaceTime on my current device. The newer iPhone with the physical home button is out of my budget.

Not really very helpful. I was looking for practical options to use with my RIC hearing aids. Frankly, the best option I have found so far is to cover my ears, such as wearing a hood, a scarf, or a hat, depending on the weather.

Turn down bass, which also helps with noise from your hair touching the aid as well.
