Both horse and guard are on duty. Why would you think it's ok to touch a soldier?
And I should think a lot of the Indian, Asian, Arab tourists have much less forgiving soldiers, even ceremonial ones, in their own country. So disrespecting the English soldiers is deliberately disrespectful.

This makes me angry. Why there are some people with this incredible urge to touch everything? And why would you want to pose for a picture holding the reins of a horse you're not even riding? I can't imagine the level of stress these horses face everyday. I don't understand why these tourists are even allowed to be so close, some of them seem to be intentionally trying to hold the reins as some sort of smart ass move.

Let these tourists to stand there, get groped all day, then they might start to understand why they might have a problem. Those guards don't owe you anything. Idk maybe ask permission to take a photo, or to pet the horse. People act so entitled all the time, it's sick.
I love that the guards are yelling at the stupid tourists. I prefer when the police are there and tell them to stop, especially the one that yelled at the boys "these are real soldiers & horses doing their job, it's not Disney"
Put the signs on both sides of the soldiers block: do not touch the horses, reins, or soldiers! Or you can be arrested

I suspect many of the tourists can't read the sign - they might know some English, but 'reins'? Or haven't seen the sign.
But I don't think that makes it excusable. The reins are clearly the guard's, just as one doesn't touch the wheel of the taxi driver.
Unfortunately, I think there are some who see the sign and deliberately try to find out what will happen if they DO touch the reins. Like a dare.
I don't think they all read English.
Never tire of hearing a Royal Guard yell "Get off the reins!" into the face of a thickheaded, scuzzy tourist.

A sure-fire way to fix this is to allow the soldiers to use their swords to protect their horses and themselves.
After one or two were used as an example, people would figure out real fast not to mess with the horses or King's Guard and they'd learn to respect them again.

How do I know it's a theme park? Because of the access given to the tourists. You won't find this access at a place of business like say, the Pentagon.

The Kings Guard is not a bloody tourist attraction. People need to understand these horsemen are a highly trained soldiers. It astounds me how many people ignore the sign, especially morons who put their fingers near the horses mouth.

They were not developed to entertain tourists. Tourists are privileged to be allowed into the Kings Guard world. So stupidity is acceptable as todays norm then.
I've been watching these videos for a few days now and my respect for the guards and the horses has grown a huge amount.
Every time I watch these, all I have to say is, I hate tourists.

Grabbing those reigns is equivalent to someone grabbing your steering wheel while fying down the highway bc some, if not most of those horses weight 1/2 ton or more! That's the only control the guard has over their horse to prevent them from harming RUDE ppl! When did others stop educating themselves on proper etiquette before visiting a foreign land?! It's YOUR responsibility to know what's offensive to others when a guest in their country, territory, etc. Those soldiers really do have the patience of saints!

Thank you for this. As a former dog owner, I was irritated, how strange people patted my dog on the head, something he was clearly uncomfortable with. Kids were more open to lecturing them, that dogs don’t like that much being patted on the head, but neck scratches are cool. They followed that pretty fast, and seemed to enjoy both.
There is a sign near one arch. The other arch just says the horse may kick or bite. There needs to be one at each arch.

At this point, they unfortunately know what they are signing up for. They know they are going to deal with the entitled jackasses out there. They choose to serve their country in a very honorable way anyway. Says a lot about them as both soilders and humans that they can ignore stupidity and focus on their jobs.
I am Japanese, but Japan has its own problems with tourists' manners. At a shrine near my home, Chinese pee on the traditional gate and Westerners break the bell of the shrine.
Because of this, the regulations are getting stricter and stricter, and the locals can no longer enjoy themselves.
Please, tourists, learn the manners of the countries you visit and have respect for them.

I think it is sadly a sign of the times. People are more selfish and think only of themselves. I have never seen so many dumb people in all my life. I have ridden and had horses in my younger years and would never grab the reigns of another rider. Also dont put your hands near an unknown horses mouth. Never hang around the rear of any horse unless you are experienced. This is an accident waiting to happen.

People should be made aware of what a rewarding job it is to work for the Royal Guard. This isn't a theater performance, it's really hard work. Everything here follows strict rules, which is why you shouldn't stand in the way of the Royal Guard when they walk across the square. This job is also very strenuous for the Royal Horses. They have to stand there for long hours, which makes them very tired, as you can see when they take turns lifting their legs up to relieve the strain, so take this to heart and follow the rules!!!

The tourists are so obnoxious, do you think that the guards will get to the point where they put up a wire fencing or something in a semi-circle around the horses that prevents the tourists from getting right up to the horses?
Even when tourists are yelled at, they are so disrespectful to the guards and look like they can't believe they are not allowed to do what they just did. How rude some tourists are.
It truly amazes me that most tourist are unable to read that big sign next to the guard house and are unable or completely unaware of their surroundings.
So utterly disrespectful, these guardsmen and guards horses show so much patience and perform their duties so brilliantly and with such pride, it breaks my heart to see them treated so badly they deserve so much better 😢😢

I have the utmost respect for the King's Guards and their horses. That's true. I've also seen a clip where a little toddler girl proferred a letter to the mounted Guard. He transferred his sword to his left (reins-holding) hand so he could reach down and take the letter. He read it and smiled and nodded at her before tucking it into his saddle and resumed his sword-on-guard position. Priceless.......

There needs to be a sign saying “This is a British military zone” and not to touch the soldiers and that you will be arrested because people think it’s a joke and actually want to here the soldiers shouting as they think it’s funny. It’s a clear lack of respect and if you did it in another country you would be arrested.
