It amazes me the rudeness of people constantly coming up to grab to reins of the horse. Then when scolded, they just laugh, creating laughter in the crowd. These are soldiers doing an official job, not actors in costume. They deserve respect and if nothing more than to read that dang sign!
Why are people allowed near the horses and Why would you leave a child unattended near a horse. Please someone with some sanity have the guards and their horse protected from the public. Don't they realise the danger or does it take something really bad to happen before things change.

As someone who lives next door to a bison ranch in WY, home of Yellowstone Pk, I can tell you the stories about idiot tourists are not exaggerated. Having also grown up around them in the Rockies, they can literally turn their bulky bodies on a dime. Something I've always been aware of and choose to respect. While on field assignment for the USGS, I was snapping pics of bison grazing in small groups which would be used for a poster. Very, very expensive cam and center of my concern. I had been accompanied by the ranch Mgr and at my signal, he stopped and I jumped out, and started shooting. After five minutes or so stopped to see if I had enough shots and the feeling that my personal space had been invaded overwhelmed me. Turning my head ever so slightly over my right shoulder I saw the hind quarters of a yearling bison. My body followed my head and I found myself face to face with him, staring into a pair of the most breath-taking dark eyes framed by gorgeous lush eyelashes. I froze and he froze. Staring at each other. Finally, I realized I'd left the truck's door open and took a giant leap backward, and then one more back into the truck slamming the door. He trotted right over and kinda forlornly gazed in the window. As we drove off the Mgr finally stopped laughing, saying Damn, a real life bison stare down! I couldn't help thinking, no kidding, at least it wasn't a stomp down.

Ведь от людей пахнет по разному и лошадь может испугаться резкого и неприятного для неё запаха. Какие глупые люди, и какие замечательные лошади. А у гвардейцев вообще сложная служба. Отвечают и за себя и за лошадь. Это очень сложно!

If any of the horses kick out front or back and ends up seriously hurting a member of the public it's their own fault not the horse or guard who is doing brilliantly controlling the horse with one hand.
For those who think the horses are abused: The horses stand for one hour, with those types of bits, and won't be back for another one-hour duty for a week. There is a load of info on the horses on here and the internet. it isn't what you think. The horses have regular bits and bridles just like my horse Bert. These bits are a roller bit and a curved bit I was told by a commenter. Some of the horses play with them you can hear the horses who like to clink them together. One of the horses likes to have his tongue out. These horses weigh in at 1200 pounds. They are Irish Draught. The horses are trained to hear the bells and they know their duty is over for a week or more. They know they will be pampered for the rest of the day, every day. Watch some of the videos on here with the horses and the Guards at the seaside...it's beautiful. You will notice the horses act like children rolling in the sand. My horse, Bert, is nowhere the size of these beasts. Necks as thick as tree trunks. THE GUARDS (sigh) "The Household Cavalry own some of the finest horses in all of England, stabled up at the Hyde Park Barracks in central London. There are 235 glossy blacks, 14 ice-cool greys, and four drum horses that make up the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. Love these videos!

Very well said Linda.. They don't realise how sensitive a horses mouth is & once it has been tugged on it "hardens".. No good for a skilled rider or being a working horse. Also painful I would imagine when done repeatedly. Annoying some tourists assume the Guards are simply cardboard cut outs for their own photo op egos.

When I was in London we did not touch the horses. As you can tell by my favorite saying ‘I’m so busy I don’t know if I lost my horse or found a rope’, I know some horses aren’t keen on being touched by strangers a hundred times in an hour. But Some love it…

Wonderful! I have so many questions but sadly don't see this as a good forum for asking. Just to say "thank you" to your King's Guard for their service and for your sacrifice of time and worry. From a fellow military parent.
What does it take for them to get in??? My little is 7 and has severe ADHD. We have no idea how he will be once he is older. He seems to have a lot of things amiss with him that don't have a diagnosis. We hope, of course, that he will be fine and that he's just a late bloomer due to his rough start in life. Anywho...he's born here in the US but he has dual citizenship with the UK, and he will be moving there in June after school is over for this semester. Since I know literally NOTHING about the UK besides some brief history, terminology differences, and respect all around, I know nothing about the qualifications and such to become a King's Guard. What should I be looking at?? What should I teach him?? I know he would have to get his ADHD under control in order to stand still for any length of time.
Those guardsmen have so much patience when it comes to ignorant and rude people who think it’s okay to just poke at the horses. Keep your hands to yourself and if you choose not to, then you may have to deal with the consequences of getting kicked, pushed and/or bitten by a horse. You could also end up being stomped on and those guards are NOT there to protect you from your own stupidity. I have a rule: keep your f🤬cking hands off my horses. It's for your own safety and, depending on which horse of mine you touch, the consequences could be dire for you. Wish the Royal Guard had the same rule.

The horse suddenly looked so vulnerable in your long shots, when he freaked out he was upset by something across the road. Horses do need reassurance in this noisy setting crammed with people and traffic. Well done the Guard for calming him down. 💙🌱.
INCORRECT - If you're talking about the occurrence at about 15:15 - the horse didn't like to back into the guard house. Another guard tried to help line the horse up to back in. If you'll notice, the horse circled around to the back (so walk straight in - first time at about 14:30) two different times instead of backing in. Perhaps a quirk of this horse. He was never spooked.
Hi I’ve just watched the amazing control that the soldier had over his horse. It must have been upsetting for the horse with all these visitors being there. I admire the patients the soldier has over his horse. Thank you for showing us the work these soldiers and horses have to do. I’m at home in Yorkshire just now.
Went to York last year, beautiful place it is, very lucky to live in that part of the country. York Minster was absolutely stunning, and the castle high up on the hill. I did'nt get to go in either as only had so much to spend on my day out.pension does'nt go far. But I did take lots of great photos that are happy memories of a great day. Definitely visit again when feeling a bit better, maybe a weekend in B&B, only so much you can see in one day is'nt there, need at least 3 to fit in everywhere you missed. I never got to see the VIKING museum as it was closed day I went for some reason, hopefully next time?
Am l seeing people surreptitiously feeding unknown things to horses? I hope not, as they could suffer colic.. painful, dangerous..l don't think tourists really need to handle these horses..a discreet distancing barrier would be appropriate, in my opinion.
The horses are amazing, I’m sure that no matter the training, to just stand there, so still…with all the noise, people, traffic etc the guards also, to sit on their horses without moving, changing position, must get painful..thank you for sharing this video. I’m a 71 year old grandmother from Australia, and I don’t think I’ll ever see is for myself, so thank you.
These are not just any police, they are special units. The whole area around Buckingham Palace, Palace of Westminster, Whitehall, and Downing Street is a special high level security zone. These security people aren't there just to deal with tourists, they are trained to deal with terrorist attacks, riots, etc and secure government premises and personnel, Royal Family, Members of Parliament, etc. Only elite soldiers and police are able to get these assignments.
Wouldn’t it be nice if just a handful of people throughout the day, would actually pay a compliment to the Guard on how impeccable he looks and the Beautiful Horses there?! They need to focus and not be interrupted by thousands of people saying great job, they need peace to concentrate and no vocal interruptions from protecting. Same as a security guard at a venue, do you think they would want thousands of people daily chatting to them. Better to just show them respect and stop touching the horses and stand your distance for a picture. Same as people are not going to keep approaching the men with their guns guarding either.

I have been watching these Kings Guards videos for about 3 weeks. I enjoy them very much. I love the different uniforms that the various guards wear. They are so attractive. From the USA 🇺🇸
I went 30 years ago and watching this I see several differences. The general public are more entitled, selfish, disrespectful, scruffy, slovenly, unkempt and they get much closer and are much more touchy feely. The Guards and their horses and their deportment are just as immaculate.
The patience and tolerance, the guards and the majestic horses have for these absolute idiots who treat it like some kind of Disneyland is beyond belief. I will do far worse than any of these gods say or do any of these tourists touched my horse. They certainly wouldn’t be touching another.
And these same kind of people who go to Disney are rude and pushy to the other people who are there! They will push & back you out of you spot if they want too! They will even come in between you & your child if you don’t hold on to their hands tight. All ages very rude! We never plan on going again!

For those who think the horses are abused there is no country whose people love horses like Britain and the Royal family is no exception so horses are not abused.
Well most of them do like the attention, there's a few who don't but the humans don't usually use the moody ones for busy days and don't force a horse public facing if they're not comfy. Horse has usually three chances to quit before they let it quit. The horses absolutely can and do communicate their discomfort and the horsemen involved do pay attention and consider it. The horses shifts aren't all the long either, compared to other mounted police work. The horses are alright :)
The guards have great control over the horse. I'm surprised with all the people and sounds there aren't more accidents. Some people never saw a horse before and just don't know it's not part of a show.
I am shocked by the stupidity and laughing when being ordered back by the guard while his horse is having a hissy fit. I have been witness first hand to a close friend, on the receiving end of only a half kick by her stallion. Six operations to sow all her organs back into place and remove the spleen. All the while lapsing in and out of consciousness. She was screaming in agony all the way to the hospital in an ambulance.
Would any of these people touching the queen’s horses want people to come up to them and start handing them? Of course not! Then don’t touch the houses (or the guards!)
I'm so sorry for your friend. Yep, run-ins with horses can have very serious consequences. Having horses myself, I have many friends who've had incredibly dangerous accidents--at least three had to be airlifted to trauma centers. There was one situation where the horse was airlifted out of a canyon after the rider came off and the horse went down the mountain (thankfully both survived with minor injuries). And these are very experienced horse people who understand horse behavior. Accidents happen in the blink of an eye. The public is massively stupid when it comes to interfacing with strange animals that weigh 1,200 to 1,800 pounds.
Christ I hope she’s recovered now! I gave up riding when I realised that it wouldn’t take much to get seriously hurt. Shortly after that Christopher Reeves had his accident. I adore horses and there’s no feeling like being able to ride, but I like my body in one piece.
when you think about sitting for the guard and standing for the horse being hypervigilant and submitting to a constant barrage of people that is quite a feat hats off to the guards and their spectacular mounts.
Wondering what must be going through the horses’ minds about why people keep walking up, standing beside him/her then walking away, over and over and over. The lack of purpose must be puzzling to them!
We too can learn from these horses… they have their social structure and we humans can be very in their face rude without consideration for what we can observe.

The guards look splendid in their winter wear. The horses look brilliant, as does the beautiful Metro police officers, and their horses. Well done to the guardsman and gatesman, for calming an anxious horse, who had enough pawing by tourists who were twits.

Definitely that vehicle was spooking the horse. I agree, anybody getting near a frustrating moment, especially with an animal who is spooked, needs to back off!! Glad both guards got the horse calmed down.
I love watching videos of the Horse Guard. I don't love how some tourist and others do the Horse Guard What I would love to be able to travel and go to London and see all the great places to see. Because of my health and on Oxygen I will never be able to do that. If you are blessed to be able to see London and Great Britain please be kind and patient with others I wish so much I could but never will.😊

As an American I noticed from my very first trip to the UK how well British history is preserved. All of the wonderful museums. Preservation of so many historical sites. I think the Guides are part of that heritage and a link to that past.
If you look on UA-cam there are a good few programs about how and where the UK restores buildings , from the Elizabeth Tower to farm houses and lots in-between , you can actually stop in some of them ( not Elizabeth Tower or palaces )
They ignore the body language, most don’t see the body language of the horse, good indication us if the horses ears are right back it’s best not to touch them if horses ears are forward then they are more social

I equate these horses with service dogs. They're trained for a specific purpose. Once their tack is on and they're in place, they're in work mode. You can get your photo taken next to the horses, but they don't consider you a friend. They tolerating you at best. You don't walk up to a service dog and start petting it. And Unless you're already familiar with the body language of a horse, I suggest not touching them period.
That first black horse is pretty chill and is fine with gentle interaction. While I have seen some real jerks, most of those people are like the rest of the world and are just drawn to the majesty of a horse. It’s overwhelming to stand in the presence of such a beautiful creature and not want to touch it. I owned horses for years and just laying a hand on the neck is wonderful. I think the guard and mostly the horse determines the limit of interaction.
These horses are such magnificent beasts l think th e best plot is to put the people behind the bars and make the tourists pay for snap. I think most of the younger tourists just go there to make trouble so they can be Tik Toc famous, as for the poor horses I think they need head phones and scarves.😊

There is an article on the "mud monsters" that shows the horses going on vacation for quite a while. Their shoes are removed and they are free to gallop around, play and roll in the mud. They look nothing like a "King's horse" by the end of it, and it's the soldiers' job to get them back to looking good, and getting them back into shape before they do any heavy work. They do understand how important that is to all the horses. One thing that really irks me is when the horse has a bit of a meltdown and people are in the way, when they are told to move they stand there and laugh....what the heck???
When these boxes were built hundred’s of years ago, I don’t think they were meant to be photo op’s or petting zoos for the commoners. Give these Life Guard’s and the Guard’s horses the respect they deserve. Ogle them from afar, or google them, HANDS OFF!!!😮😮😮

Ведь от людей пахнет по разному и лошадь может испугаться резкого и неприятного для неё запаха. Какие глупые люди, и какие замечательные лошади. А у гвардейцев вообще сложная служба. Отвечают и за себя и за лошадь. Это очень сложно!

Those horses are absolutely amazing. So patient with all those people keep touching them. Well done to our wonderful guards.
For those who think the horses are abused: The horses stand for one hour, with those types of bits, and won't be back for another one-hour duty for a week. There is a load of info on the horses on here and the internet. it isn't what you think. The horses have regular bits and bridles just like my horse Bert. These bits are a roller bit and a curved bit I was told by a commenter. Some of the horses play with them you can hear the horses who like to clink them together. One of the horses likes to have his tongue out. These horses weigh in at 1200 pounds. They are Irish Draught. The horses are trained to hear the bells and they know their duty is over for a week or more. They know they will be pampered for the rest of the day, every day. Watch some of the videos on here with the horses and the Guards at the seaside...it's beautiful. You will notice the horses act like children rolling in the sand. My horse, Bert, is nowhere the size of these beasts. Necks as thick as tree trunks. THE GUARDS (sigh) "The Household Cavalry own some of the finest horses in all of England, stabled up at the Hyde Park Barracks in central London. There are 235 glossy blacks, 14 ice-cool greys, and four drum horses that make up the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. Love these videos!

Very well said Linda.. They don't realise how sensitive a horses mouth is & once it has been tugged on it "hardens".. No good for a skilled rider or being a working horse. Also painful I would imagine when done repeatedly. Annoying some tourists assume the Guards are simply cardboard cut outs for their own photo op egos.

Wonderful! I have so many questions but sadly don't see this as a good forum for asking. Just to say "thank you" to your King's Guard for their service and for your sacrifice of time and worry. From a fellow military parent.
What does it take for them to get in??? My little is 7 and has severe ADHD. We have no idea how he will be once he is older. He seems to have a lot of things amiss with him that don't have a diagnosis. We hope, of course, that he will be fine and that he's just a late bloomer due to his rough start in life.
Anywho...he's born here in the US but he has dual citizenship with the UK, and he will be moving there in June after school is over for this semester. Since I know literally NOTHING about the UK besides some brief history, terminology differences, and respect all around, I know nothing about the qualifications and such to become a King's Guard. What should I be looking at?? What should I teach him?? I know he would have to get his ADHD under control in order to stand still for any length of time.
Those guardsmen have so much patience when it comes to ignorant and rude people who think it’s okay to just poke at the horses. Keep your hands to yourself and if you choose not to, then you may have to deal with the consequences of getting kicked, pushed and/or bitten by a horse. You could also end up being stomped on and those guards are NOT there to protect you from your own stupidity. I have a rule: keep your f🤬cking hands off my horses. It's for your own safety and, depending on which horse of mine you touch, the consequences could be dire for you. Wish the Royal Guard had the same rule.

INCORRECT - If you're talking about the occurrence at about 15:15 - the horse didn't like to back into the guard house. Another guard tried to help line the horse up to back in. If you'll notice, the horse circled around to the back (so walk straight in - first time at about 14:30) two different times instead of backing in. Perhaps a quirk of this horse. He was never spooked.

Hi I’ve just watched the amazing control that the soldier had over his horse. It must have been upsetting for the horse with all these visitors being there. I admire the patients the soldier has over his horse. Thank you for showing us the work these soldiers and horses have to do. I’m at home in Yorkshire just now.

Went to York last year, beautiful place it is, very lucky to live in that part of the country. York Minster was absolutely stunning, and the castle high up on the hill. I did'nt get to go in either as only had so much to spend on my day out.pension does'nt go far. But I did take lots of great photos that are happy memories of a great day. Definitely visit again when feeling a bit better, maybe a weekend in B&B, only so much you can see in one day is'nt there, need at least 3 to fit in everywhere you missed. I never got to see the VIKING museum as it was closed day I went for some reason, hopefully next time?

These are not just any police, they are special units. The whole area around Buckingham Palace, Palace of Westminster, Whitehall, and Downing Street is a special high level security zone. These security people aren't there just to deal with tourists, they are trained to deal with terrorist attacks, riots, etc and secure government premises and personnel, Royal Family, Members of Parliament, etc. Only elite soldiers and police are able to get these assignments.
These people have no respect for the horse or guard. They should get back and give them room. Poor horse putting up with all this.

They need to focus and not be interrupted by thousands of people saying great job, they need peace to concentrate and no vocal interruptions from protecting. Same as a security guard at a venue, do you think they would want thousands of people daily chatting to them. Better to just show them respect and stop touching the horses and stand your distance for a picture. Same as people are not going to keep approaching the men with their guns guarding either.

I went 30 years ago and watching this I see several differences. The general public are more entitled, selfish, disrespectful, scruffy, slovenly, unkempt and they get much closer and are much more touchy feely. The Guards and their horses and their deportment are just as immaculate.
The patience and tolerance, the guards and the majestic horses have for these absolute idiots who treat it like some kind of Disneyland is beyond belief. I will do far worse than any of these gods say or do any of these tourists touched my horse. They certainly wouldn’t be touching another.
They act like the horse is some kind of unique, bizarre species they’ve never seen before. It’s a horse, folks. Look but not necessary to touch.
And these same kind of people who go to Disney are rude and pushy to the other people who are there! They will push & back you out of you spot if they want too! They will even come in between you & your child if you don’t hold on to their hands tight. All ages very rude! We never plan on going again!

Well most of them do like the attention, there's a few who don't but the humans don't usually use the moody ones for busy days and don't force a horse public facing if they're not comfy. Horse has usually three chances to quit before they let it quit. The horses absolutely can and do communicate their discomfort and the horsemen involved do pay attention and consider it. The horses shifts aren't all the long either, compared to other mounted police work.

I am shocked by the stupidity and laughing when being ordered back by the guard while his horse is having a hissy fit. I have been witness first hand to a close friend, on the receiving end of only a half kick by her stallion. Six operations to sow all her organs back into place and remove the spleen. All the while lapsing in and out of consciousness. She was screaming in agony all the way to the hospital in an ambulance.
So sorry. give her my best as I will pray for her.

I'm so sorry for your friend. Yep, run-ins with horses can have very serious consequences. Having horses myself, I have many friends who've had incredibly dangerous accidents--at least three had to be airlifted to trauma centers. There was one situation where the horse was airlifted out of a canyon after the rider came off and the horse went down the mountain (thankfully both survived with minor injuries). And these are very experienced horse people who understand horse behavior. Accidents happen in the blink of an eye. The public is massively stupid when it comes to interfacing with strange animals that weigh 1,200 to 1,800 pounds.

I gave up riding when I realised that it wouldn’t take much to get seriously hurt. Shortly after that Christopher Reeves had his accident. I adore horses and there’s no feeling like being able to ride, but I like my body in one piece.
when you think about sitting for the guard and standing for the horse being hypervigilant and submitting to a constant barrage of people that is quite a feat hats off to the guards and their spectacular mounts.
Wondering what must be going through the horses’ minds about why people keep walking up, standing beside him/her then walking away, over and over and over. The lack of purpose must be puzzling to them!

As an American I noticed from my very first trip to the UK how well British history is preserved. All of the wonderful museums. Preservation of so many historical sites. I think the Guides are part of that heritage and a link to that past.

If you look on UA-cam there are a good few programs about how and where the UK restores buildings , from the Elizabeth Tower to farm houses and lots in-between , you can actually stop in some of them ( not Elizabeth Tower or palaces )

Why do idiots touch the horse when instinct tells you that it doesn’t want to be touched.
They ignore the body language, most don’t see the body language of the horse, good indication us if the horses ears are right back it’s best not to touch them if horses ears are forward then they are more social
Because they are selfish morons without respect for the horse or the guard. Do any of them understand this is not a tourist show put on for their benefit but a working military unit and a long standing time honoured tradition.

The horse had enough of the utter nonsense. I feel so bad for Brittish Guards the ignorance they put up with on the daily is mindblowing. I mean goodness they couldn't have a private chat without people taking photos really? I wonder out of the thousands of people who just go up there for photos if anyone has ever asked politely if they would be allowed to do so. And a THANK YOU for your service for gracious sakes.

The Horsers Has the patients of saints to be tolerant most of the time with Tourists
I equate these horses with service dogs. They're trained for a specific purpose. Once their tack is on and they're in place, they're in work mode. You can get your photo taken next to the horses, but they don't consider you a friend. They tolerating you at best. You don't walk up to a service dog and start petting it. And Unless you're already familiar with the body language of a horse, I suggest not touching them period.
I believe it is only respectful to ask if you may pet the horse and say thanks to the guard and horse for their service.

That first black horse is pretty chill and is fine with gentle interaction. While I have seen some real jerks, most of those people are like the rest of the world and are just drawn to the majesty of a horse. It’s overwhelming to stand in the presence of such a beautiful creature and not want to touch it. I owned horses for years and just laying a hand on the neck is wonderful. I think the guard and mostly the horse determines the limit of interaction.

These horses are such magnificent beasts l think th e best plot is to put the people behind the bars and make the tourists pay for snap. I think most of the younger tourists just go there to make trouble so they can be Tik Toc famous, as for the poor horses I think they need head phones and scarves.😊

There is an article on the "mud monsters" that shows the horses going on vacation for quite a while. Their shoes are removed and they are free to gallop around, play and roll in the mud. They look nothing like a "King's horse" by the end of it, and it's the soldiers' job to get them back to looking good, and getting them back into shape before they do any heavy work. They do understand how important that is to all the horses. One thing that really irks me is when the horse has a bit of a meltdown and people are in the way, when they are told to move they stand there and laugh....what the heck???
Maybe Princess Kate could make this one of her missions to see that safety and respect shown to these soldiers
When these boxes were built hundred’s of years ago, I don’t think they were meant to be photo op’s or petting zoos for the commoners. Give these Life Guard’s and the Guard’s horses the respect they deserve. Ogle them from afar, or google them, HANDS OFF!!!😮😮😮
It still amazes me that would be parents put their kids right next to horses animals can be unpredictable I certainly wouldn't have put myself or children close any animal I didn't know think they've left their brain at home

Для лошади это очень тяжело и утомительно. Какие они молодцы, что в такой шумной и нервозной обстановке могут контролировать ситуацию !
