A lot of you guys are commenting about audio only coming out of one side. It sounds great on my end, so I don’t know what’s going on. Does anyone have an idea? I recently got new mikes and they are great quality, so it’s probably a setting.

Hi Emerald and Jade! What I notice is that both of your voices seem to have some level of panning. Emerald's voice sounds more to the left and Jade's sound more to the right. If you are using mics, check that out, there might be a setting that is panning the mics to one side and the other. I know a little bit about audio, if you need assistance I may be able to help.

@@nicklombardi721 do you think I should have it set to stereo or mono? I’m sure it’s just a setting thing but I don’t know what half the stuff means

That tooth probably fell off because of the number of cycles the blade has gone through. Metal will get stress fractures just from use. I would sharpen the blades once a year. It will cause less stress on the engine and all of the other parts. Also it was louder because it was taking more force for the teeth to pass through the wood. Thanks for sharing.

    • @Crissan

@@lumbercapitallogyard Microphones always record in mono because it's one input channel. Then when you edit the recording file into your video you can choose to pan the audio to the left or to the right channels. Emerald's recording channel is panned to the left and Jade's recording channel is panned to the right that is why when Emerald speaks it sounds to left and when Jade speaks it sounds to the right. You need to make sure that the channels are set to the center. If you notice the music tracks that you use, they are a stereo file that already have both channels Left and Right that is why they sound normal but when audio from your mics play they sound like they come from one side or the other, this is very evident at the beginning of the video where everything sounds to the left because Emerald's microphone is panned to the left channel. I hope this helps!!
By the way, if you aren't noticing this on your end that may be because your audio output is set to mono which means that all sound will come from the center and because of that you will not perceive this. Make sure that your audio output is set to stereo!

Your ability to eyeball the angle of the fletch in a free-hand feed machine and then just miss the bark 8 feet down the board is simply astounding. RESPECT!!!!
    EDIT:
Now that I think of it. For those who don't understand the action of a free-hand parallel roller-feeding system... It might make a great video to show what happens when the start, the tail-end of a fletch, as little as 1/4 inch to the left or right. I'm sure you have bad fletches that could used to demonstrate.

That goes to show just how long carbide tooth blades can last as there is always going to be a little bit of dirt on the bark and if a blade gets into that and so forth. I have to wonder if there was a rock that got stuck on a board or a nail in a board that caused a tooth to chip. More than likely you will use slightly less fuel on a given type of wood due to cutting easier now so there is that bonus.

A wee explanation to the noise factor. If you cut a bit of wood with a sharp chisel it's silent. If you try and smash your way through it with a hammer you make a lot of noise. Keep you blades sharp and your power dry guys!

I used look after wood working machines for a furniture maker, our circular saws mainly cut mdf, very hard on blades, I think most saws went through several blades a week as they wore out. Every week a stack of blades would go for resharpening, we sharpened our own router cutters as they could need doing after a few hours work. The noise is the saw having to work harder to cut against blunt blades. You could hear it on our manual saws when some animal was pushing as hard as he could making the blade slow down which causes even worse cutting! I used try explaining that pushing harder after the blade starts slowing actually makes slower, worse cuts. You could see router bits going dull as the edges would start showing ripples and make even more noise than normal.

New blades will definitely be quieter also the sides of the blades are clean of burnt on sap/pitch , there’s a product for cleaning them and lubricants , finish carpenters ( I know you not doing finish work ) are very conscious of this to produce a very clean cut , it allowed the blade to track and not vibrate and not heat the the cut edges burnishing all adding up to a smooth easy cut also less noise . Turpentine and canuba wax works well .

The reason why it sounded quieter is because the old blade was dull and the pressure from the electric motor that is pushing the wood is forcing the cut and the dull blade is actually slipping the cut and with a new blade that is sharp it will quiet down and work quicker and efficiently.
