This is the first time I have ever commented on UA-cam. I am a jewellery artist predominantly so I create to sell, which does take the fun out of it sometimes! But drawing and painting were my first love, which my mom and I used to do together, all of my life from a young age, just for the love of it. She now has dementia and is no longer able to share our interests, and I seem to have lost my artistic way. Just by chance or fate, I came across your video, and it has brought a tear with the feeling of formularity. I have now ordered a new sketchbook, some watercolours and pens and I feel the spark of happiness returning. Thank you
Oh that’s wonderful! So glad if anything has inspired you especially during this difficult time with your mom. Thank you for sharing and I hope you find joy in your new sketchbook again ❤️🍁🌸
This is so beautiful 🤩 And yes, nature is not only the greatest artist but also a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much for showing us your creative process!
Love this milkweed page and seed sample in the pocket! The seeds & fluff on the right look like they will fly off the page! Makes me wish I had collected a pod when I was visiting Ontario, Canada recently so I could add seeds to my sketchbook. I will do that next visit! Wonderful page!❤
Awe! It’s always so difficult to start learning a new skill but keeping your drawing as simple as possible is helpful! Also, I did a lot of tracing over photos to help me when I was first learning to draw…it gave me instant confidence that I could eventually learn myself. Thanks so much for watching 😊🌸
So inspirational. Thank you. I have milkweed growing all over my backyard and I’m always intrigued by it at every stage. Thank you for saying it’s okay to trace. I love art and want to draw like you do so instead of getting discouraged because I’m not anywhere near that calibre since you’ve given me the “it’s okay to trace” permission and I can enjoy doing what I can. I actually have used the pods dipped in acrylic paint to paint abstract paintings. The texture is perfect both soft and dried. lol… Thanks! I’m going to check out all of your videos this fall/winter as my art project.
That’s awesome! Dipping your pods in a acrylics would be a cool addition to your nature journal as well! Glad you feel inspired to make art and I think tracing works great in a nature journal!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😊🌼
Your journals are exquisite!! I can relate to most of the plants that you have shown in them!. The summer passes so quickly and I've been wanting to draw all summer, but the heat and life get in the way, so I live vicariously throught these great youtube artists ! Thanks for sharing what you do, it makes life so enjoyable during those long winter days!
Nature journal?! Yes! I’m doing this:) I live on a small beautiful island in Alaska. Very green and I love all the flora and fauna! This was a super inspiring video! Thank you!
I’m so glad! We stayed on the islands of Petersburg, Wrangell and Sitka last year…what a truly beautiful place!! Enjoy your journaling and thanks so much for watching 😊!
Your Nature Art Journal really inspires me along with your natural colours on your art pages really appeals to me. It has got me thinking to go out and search for some interesting things and in Australia we have the weirdest plants which is great. Banksias, gumnuts too many to list. Thanks for sharing.
I love nature journaling. I have many journals with my drawings of nature, birds etc. but although it has my drawings and observations, they always feel like they are lacking something. Something that looks beautiful as a whole, that is creative and unique in its own way, that draws you in and makes you want to look back at them. These tips and layouts are wonderfully inspiring, thank you for sharing!
Love this. I so want to do this. I don't mean to whine but I have physical disabilities, and there's a lot of pain. Is it worthwhile to create spreads from plant identifier books? The spreads come from a 1-D experience instead of 3-D.
Absolutely! A nature journal can be a very personal record of what you learn and discover! So journaling from a book totally works because you are still learning and creating!! Hope you give it a try!! ☺️
@@mynaturediaries4402 thanks. It's a bit sad because I have so many beautiful parks here. I think I first came across your work when I saw you referred to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) which is my neighborhood.

¡Me alegro de que te haya gustado y gracias por verlo! 😊
Love this spread. I’m going to use the technique of pre-painting the background. I like the way immediately removes rhetoric blankness of the page.
Thanks so much! It does help to jumpstart the creative process…😊
