You're a younger Black man discovering the life principles that I have lived by for most of my life. The awareness of how empty and wasted a life spent chasing money & wealth is. The peace of simplicity. The fact that contentment is TRUE wealth. But mind you, I've had this mindset while living in America (imagine THAT!). It's always been my goal to move out of the US, but I've constantly been distracted by the things of life, family, having children, etc. Now, in my 40s, I've f8nally made the decision to leave by any means necessary. I've recently gotten rid of all my belongings here and am within 3-5 months of leaving. It's just so refreshing to see a young brother gaining these insights. Know that you are exactly on the right track, bro. Everything you're searching for lies ahead on this very path that you are on. Btw...I hope to meet you when I come through Thailand.
Make sure you have money flow. No less than 6000+ USD per month if you want to live a decent life style. A new car cost 50% more than the US. And it is so frickin hot hot hot here.
it will worsen in the US, the bad economic conditions will get started...Inflation will eat all your gains..If you have some savings, go to SE Asia---and get a low cost a living and few side chicks
Go for it, man! I'm heading to Cambodia myself within the next year. Things are getting ridiculous in the US. It's definitely a falling empire at this point and it's only gonna get worse. Next year's election is gonna show everyone just how much worse it's gotten in just the last few years.

I have a thai wife. Still living im miami, but looking to make the transition within the next 12 months. I definitely agree with your take of peacefulness in Thailand. I would say your biggest obstacle in Thailand is being careful not to be taken as a life raft. Meaning all thai people look at farang as being rich. Stay away from the bar girls and dont let your money show and you will find Thailand to be a great experience.
What an amazing adventure ! After spending several months in Thailand myself a few years ago I understand that feeling if peace ❤. I appreciate how your experience of peace may be so much more complex than mine as an older white female but it’s a peace that invaded every particle of one’s being none the less. I came home to Canada after being in Thailand, now my journey is to find a way to come back permanently….. Thank you for your videos , I appreciate all. Namaste
100 agree with you. Thailand became our place of peace and second home. We have been in south east Asia for the last 3 years. And the same question you asked “am I willing to sacrifice my peace to go back home.” Our home is South Africa Cape Town. Still today we thought nah let’s stay. We are in Vietnam now. But Thailand will always be our home away from way. Can’t wait to return. Great video. Thanks for your honesty and wisdom. ❤

Love these real talk videos, thank you for posting it! I'm 44, I've been debating on waiting for the retirement visa (age 50). I only have my disability as income, and it's getting harder to live each year. It is tiring to see everything get more expensive, and what you get isn't as much as it used to be. Before disability, it was always trying to get a "stable" life, but that is really expensive. Try and move to a better neighborhood, get a reliable car, and for what, to barely get a raise (if any) and you start to lose money with inflation while all your bills go up, and for what? To die with the most stuff, that someone will just throw away, no thanks. The more I watch Thailand travel/expat videos, it seems like it would be a great place. I am not interested in the "nightlife" at all, don't care about drugs and I only drink very casually, so I figure the usual pitfalls that I hear about wouldn't affect me at all. I have been single 23 years, and I don't see that changing, I just can't stand the drama and stress that comes with it. I figure I've been by myself that long what's another 20-30 years, especially when I would be able to actually afford to live alone (unlike the US).
My wife is Thai and it's super chill over there. Cost of living is very low, but you need to have a little money in the bank (leave $10k in a thai bank account) to apply to be a resident. The language is VERY hard to learn for an American, so take that into mind. Thai culture admires American culture, but doesn't really seek to emulate it. Many other countries have more english speakers than Thailand.
@@kevinp8108 I think you're talking about the retirement visa. The Elite visa is a one-time lump sum and it's many options have also just increased in price.
Look into it NOW. Many countries are increasing the income requirements for permanent residency and citizenship. So, get in while your income fulfills the requirements. Research how your disability income could (hopefully not) change if it is determined that you live outside the USA. Once you figure that out, MOVE and never go back!!
Thank you for your video and your honesty. I have been to Cambodia and Thailand and enjoyed the kindness and hospitality shown. A lot of stress in the west . Mass conflict and lacking unity on all levels , I am learning Thai language and love the Thai culture and it’s people. Also studying lord Buddhas teachings and why we are as we are . I wish you well friend . I will be moving to Thailand this march.
Really impressed me when you said in the US everything is about money. That's the chase of life. But things turn around in Thailand when you see a family of five on the same motorbike smiling. Wow... small thing with big impact.... but I really love this. Thank you for making Thailand as your second home.
living in canada right now and miss home so much. I love it here because its beautiful and ive met some amazing people but Thailand is home at the end of the day and thats where I grew up. Miss my family and friends and just the generally positive vibe and kind society.
Thank you so much for this content. Not liking it here and deciding to change it. It’s hard not saying anything to anyone because lots of people like to project their fears onto others.
I'm 26 American. Just arrived in Thailand a week ago on a 1 year education visa. Can make money online and saving 30k a year on expenses. Have a year to explore more options to stay longer and expand my ways to make money.
I’d like to say thank you for your honest perspective as an expat living in an Asian country (particularly Thailand 🇹🇭) . I’ve watched several of your videos thus far and the comments has been so positive. Especially with most of the natives so graciously thanking you as well. I’m not sure if people are just trending on negativity selling but it’s been so discouraging as a single mom wanting to relocate or move to another country with an almost young teenage daughter. In my recent research of country to move to, base on my personal preference and criteria, Thailand has been the top of this list of country with positive feedback that is welcoming as far as diversity. I know not one place in the world is entirely safe, but for the most part, I desire peace of mind, and a healthy space to raise my daughter that is not racially divided with inequality and contaminated as the states. I will definitely be making plans to travel here in the near future and see if my soul embrace it as place to hopefully call home. But none the less I know the experience will be a wonderful one for my daughter and I. Thank you again and I wish you continued success, blessings and protection. 🙏🏾
EACH AND EVERY SYLLABLE YOU SOKE WAS NUTHIN' BUT 100 PERCENT FACT. Haven't been to Thailand yet but will be visiting to check it out as a retirement place...! Keep up the great work...!
One thing people don't understand is that majority of the people that do come to Thailand from their respective country was that they were loners back home. Thailand is a place where a loner can strive, due to the culture in Thailand. People are friendly and very helpful. As well when you meet other loners in a bar it's like theyve found their long lost family relative.

I am the one who followed you from the first time you arrived in Thailand. You try looking in the mirror. I have a feeling your face looks happier now than when you first got here. Just wanted to tell you that May you live happily on this land. And I'm happy to stand where you're happy, even though we've never met.
Pretty brave to seek your passion! Good for you… wish you the best. Love that you found peace… I hope to find it too when we move to Thailand in couple years.
Hey bro, loved your video, loved the message and it was real and on point. I have been going back and forth to the Philippines but one day I said, let me visit Thailand. And I took the journey there for just a few days, and LOVED IT!....I walked the streets at 2 and 3 am, there was no fear or people hiding in the shadows and I felt at peace. I own 3 properties in Philippines, and I am contemplating buying a condo in Thailand because compared to Philippines, Thailand has actual infrastructure. The roads were done, the drivers obey traffic laws and yes, there is traffic but it's not nearly as chaotic as the Philippine traffic conditions. I was literally surprised that I liked Thailand so much and when I flew back to Philippines, I realized that corruption and lack of basic rules of the road are in full effect. I will say that the filipino people are absolutely the friendliest that I have ever come across, but for some reason Thailand felt better. Thanks for putting out a good video on your journey.
Isaiah ... awesome video ... this is the first time I've seen anything by you. I'm now subscribed and looking forward to new content. Now for the reason I watched. I spent the winter there 18 months ago and live everyday now fixing and eliminating all of my ties to Canada, and dreaming of going back as a digital nomad to retire with my beautiful fiance. I can totally relate to the "I'm at peace" part. For the first time in my much longer life than you've been around, I found peace. In my mind, in my heart, in my body and in life. I did my best to assimilate myself to the Thai way of life and found their minimalism to be so much more enjoyable. They are only concerned with necessity, not abundance. Family and friends, not out doing the Jones. Once I wrapped my head around this concept, all my fears of being a Farang disappeared and I was accepted into their community. I wish you peace and happiness in the country of smiles and perpetual summer good sir.
Man I resonated with you on so many levels. In late 2020 I did the same thing but I did it in Mexico Colombia and Ecuador. My digital nomad experience failed due to external factors that affected me during the pandemic. Getting a different perspective of living will enlighten you I wish more black people would be open to this. I bet you realized the lies that the media has taught you to believe how other countries live in disarray and the US is the beacon too huh? Just like you said there are plus and minuses to living in another country but you can appreciate a higher quality of life with having less excess than we are taught to believe in our hustle culture mindset. I'm a beginner learning stoicism and it teaches us to live without luxury sometimes to face unexpected challenges and practice gratitude in the midst of it. I would encourage you to learn stoicism as you're on your journey in Thailand. Peace and love to you young brotha. I hope to see you soon there one day. Keep living your best life.
I agree with you whole-heartedly. Every country is not perfect. Thailand has its own issues internally too. But personally, it's about the balance. For the things that aren't good in Thailand, the good outweighs the bad. Freedom in Thailand vs. Freedom in the US. It all comes down to this... which part of Freedom makes you happy?
Glad you found your peace at such a young age. I had to retire and find the courage and the love language to set limits with friends and family in order to find and hold on tight to my guilt free peace.

I feel that brotha! Yea if you come here and I’m here hit me up 💯
Make sure you have money flow. No less than 6000+ USD per month if you want to live a decent life style. A new car cost 50% more than the US. And it is so frickin hot hot hot here.
I love how articulate honest and subjective you are about your experience
I would love to move to Thailand I am sick of the politics and the rat race in this country
I feel that brotha!
it will worsen in the US, the bad economic conditions will get started...Inflation will eat all your gains..If you have some savings, go to SE Asia---and get a low cost a living and few side chicks
Go for it, man! I'm heading to Cambodia myself within the next year. Things are getting ridiculous in the US. It's definitely a falling empire at this point and it's only gonna get worse. Next year's election is gonna show everyone just how much worse it's gotten in just the last few years.
@@Sneed341 Yep we have a candidate with Alzheimers and the other one is a circus clown...NOt saying SE asian countries aren't corrupt or clownish in their own right....But something about not knowing their shit too deeply is peace within....
I live in Indonesia with my Indonesian wife that I met in Las Vegas. It is peaceful and the food is much healthier and less expensive. I went to the doctor and got my medications for $6.00 U.S. total.
Mr. Ashley, that was inspiring, motivating n sooo true about America. I admire your courage n determination. Loved what you said about “peace” n couldn’t agree more. God bless n keep you. Prayn I make it there in 4 years, retirement 🙏.
It's good to hear your backstory, I think a lot of us felt the same when we first started living aboard.
It's very nice to see another black guy living in Thailand and sharing their experience
Namaste
@@Jazz-fg2dm I went to Thailand the first time in 2019 at the age of 56 and again in 2021. It’s a beautiful country 😊
@@Jazz-fg2dm maybe our paths will cross in Thailand at some point in time
@@Jazz-fg2dm lol. About 15 hour flight.
@@Jazz-fg2dm and let me know if you come to Canada.
Seeing how you took a a chance and a leap of faith to be able to do what you wanted to do takes a lot of courage and guts man! I hope your new chapter and journey leads you to making new friends and a happy life. Congratulations!
Its nice to hear a young traveler discuss things on topics outside of how the women are in other countries. Thanks
Hey Isaiah, I actually live in Guam, not far from Thailand (5-6 hour flight), and my wife and I normally travel to the Philippines every three months, and Thailand twice a year. We will be in Pattaya Thailand in December for the Holidays. We enjoy your channel and have decided to move to Thailand, probably in the next two years. As you stated, peace of mind and a healthier lifestyle are well worth it. I will be sharing your video on our Facebook as we know others who need to make that move. Piece brother - Enjoy.
Thank you!!
Indeed,In 4 years i am retiring there in my mid forties. And i am taking a 200k pay cut.But its worth it too me retiring early there have major psychological as well as economic benefits.
A lot of people still don't know but you discover this truth early on in life. God bless and enjoy the journey!
Thank you…Thank you…THANK YOU! I appreciate your content and sharing your experience. I am an African American that has traveled abroad to 6!different countries. Your experience is absolutely inspiring! I appreciate you brother!!! ❤❤❤
I love your attitude and story and yes keep going and doing you amazingly appreciate the love you share and it’s truth that sets u free!
what you said about protecting your peace and not going back to your home country is very much on my mind right now. I appreciate that. I found this video in this moment and can relate to someone else. You really described it in a way ahead and thought of.
Your channel is so inspirational for me, & many others. Bless your journey, & thank you so much.
DUDE! VERY WELL SPOKEN! THERE'S REALLY SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE!
Great messages to everyone in the world. Glad you like it here. Really hope you continue to stay and find peace here. I'll continue to follow your channel.
One day you will be completely Thai. Welcome to Thailand. This place is like your home. Thai people love you. Thailand, no matter where you come from, what gender, what color, what race, here we are all united. Everyone is equal. It depends on your lifestyle.
I appreciate you and your words! Live your best life and in a place where you maybe treated better. You're young and wise for your age. You just gained a subscriber.

Definitely consider it man! Explore your options 💯
@@kevinp8108what does this cost and how long does the visa allows you to stay
Welcome to your new home, Thailand.
You're more than welcome and Love by all Thai's.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Greate Msg bruther powerful message
You hit the TARGET! Nuff said!
Hearing your perspective on Thailand is what I have been waiting on. Quite inspiring! Went once and plan to visit again!
We are welcome every one,as long as you are good person.
Inspiring, thoughtful and vulnerable. Great stuff!!👏👏 I’m making the move soon.

living in canada right now and miss home so much. I love it here because its beautiful and ive met some amazing people but Thailand is home at the end of the day and thats where I grew up. Miss my family and friends and just the generally positive vibe and kind society.
Loved hearing your story. And your Journey! Salute!!!
Appreciate it!
“I’m only American in their eyes” Wow - that is such a great point!
19:25 *Your channel is a breath of fresh air!* .. At a time when I find it unpleasant to digest content by many males, here you are! A young man with wisdom, intelligence, maturity, peace, and unbiased opinions. #NewSub 💜💜
I really enjoyed this video and listening to your experience. Thank you very much
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Well thought out, honest and open, and knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing your experience with no filters
Really appreciate your share. Especially the comparisons for those that seeking a better life and environment!
Great video, thanks. Continue to enjoy your journey 💜 Be safe.
Looking forward to experiencing it in the near future
So cool. You tell an amazing story Isaiah. I moved to Thailand in 2019.
Isaiah ... awesome video ... this is the first time I've seen anything by you.
You look happy and that is inspirational. I am seriously considering Thailand. I share your philosophy of a peaceful life.
Love this video bro, your dropping pure gems 💎, I’m from the uk and I’m gonna plan to stay in Thailand for a year in 2024 💪🏽
My first time watching your channel and i loved it!
This video is so powerful. God bless you.
Glad you found your peace at such a young age. I had to retire and find the courage and the love language to set limits with friends and family in order to find and hold on tight to my guilt free peace.
Great stuff!
Great Video Bro! You inspired me to move to Thailand and I've been here now for 8 months in around Southeast Asia. I'm here in Chiang Mai, now where it's more laid back and chill.... I love you channel Bro!
Needed to see this! Bro, you broke down exactly how I’ve been feeling for a while. I’m currently in Miami, Florida. I’ve been thinking about moving abroad to Thailand or somewhere in Africa been craving a change of scenery even if I have to take that journey alone. Keep sharing your experiences you don’t realize how many of us you’re inspiring.
Really enjoyed this video Isaiah

Congrats brother for making the move u wanted to make💯
No one place is perfect. One thing about SE Asia different from America is that they might have prejudice but very rare to find hatred towards other races.
Thai don’t mix well with Indian
Great video thank you so much for sharing your journey with us, since the last time I commented on one of your videos I'm happy to report that I'm here in Thailand!! This is my second time traveling here, I came for the 1st time 24 years ago and longed to return.
Currently in Phuket for the next month.
I will say this to anybody don't overthink it, if you're watching this video it's because the idea is tugging at your heart ❤ go for it, life is short and tomorrow is not promised

Great video, I am currently selling my house in the Uk, I am a black woman and looking to move to Thailand on my own, I am nervous but I know that I need this to find peace, meet spiritual people and get away from the toxicity and negativity, love your story, you have a lovely presence
I'm black and from the UK too,. From Oxford. I'm in Thailand, solo and visited many times. Just visiting Cambodia for a couple of weeks but going back and staying another 30 days. Life is so easy out here, you'll enjoy it but like the man says, takes a while to build friendships but I'm now visiting my US friend who I met in Vietnam!
Hi Marilyn, sounds like you are having a great time, I am looking at Chiang Mai to stay at first and see how it goes. I am looking forward to a new adventure and getting away from the uk, do you know of any black hairdressers I can go to when I am in Thailand, have a good time in Vietnam
Awesome I did the same thing, had $1000 to my name ended up staying for 14 years in Bangkok and Phuket! Congrats
