This is one of their best performances. You can see it on Thom’a face at the end. He knows he nailed it. This is such a simple song and it creates such a vivid and simmering atmosphere. What a performance
some of his best lyrics even to this day are on hail to the thief, come to think of it. which is funny, because i remember reading that a lot of the lyrics in on this album were placeholders that he just never bothered changing. i cant source that, but i think i read it from an interview or something
Brilliant. I keep coming back to this version because obviously it's hell of a performance, and because the bass line is more audible, and adds so much to jonny's and thom's lines
okay. i've shed my fair share of tears listening to the magestical band i idolize like a schoolgirl. but my god. please explain this curve ball of a post. work wif me here.
For many people the best radiohead songs are "Creep", "Karma Police", "Paranoid Android", "High&Dry", "Fake Plastic Trees", etc. But for me "Scatterbrain" is one of their best songs.
hard to choose, really.. they have quite number of amazing, iconic songs that describe them. fake plastic trees and scatterbrain are my favorites though
I'm walking out In a force ten gale Birds thrown around Bullets for hail The roof is pulling off By its fingernails Your voice is rapping on my windowsill Yesterday's headlines Blown by the wind Yesterday's people Ends up scatterbrain Then any fool can Easy pick a hole I only wish I could fall in A moving target firing range Somewhere I'm not Scatterbrain Somewhere I'm not Scatterbrain Lightning fuse, powercut Scatterbrain
@@thesadprofessor Hey Michael I hope you are well. Sometimes I don't have the words to express things but a band does. If I can help out one person who does not understand the lyrics it makes me feel a little useful. See you around the traps :).
like all most radiohead songs they climax towards the end. the hammering and timing of the guitars and Base on this live version is some of the most perfect and beautiful picking you will ever here on any song ever let along radiohead. p.s amsp is the new ok computer
In 1933, Helen Keller published an essay titled "Intelligent Reading." I wonder if Yorke was inspired by this. The essay is about how people read so much in newspapers, but fail to get the point. We consume and consume, but fail to focus on the point of any of what we read and listen to. Media --for all its information, investigation, analysis, and supposed purpose-- is turned into so much chatter by the consumer audience. That's pretty Radiohead right there! 1933. That's some serious insight, and prescient of the far off future...
I love the emotion of this song. God, the way he says "scatterbrain". It reminds me of the feeling I get from How to Disappear Completely. It's tragic almost, begging and pleading.
Scatterbrain. (As Dead As Leaves.) Radiohead I'm walking out In a force ten gale Birds thrown around Bullets for hail The roof is pulling off By its fingernails Your voice is rapping On my window sill Yesterday's headlines Blown by the wind Yesterday's people End up Scatterbrain Then any fool can Easy pick a hole ('I only with I could fall in') A moving target In a firing range Somewhere I'm not Scatterbrain Somewhere I'm not Scatterbrain Lighting fuse Power cut Scatterbrain
Hail to the thief is the best Radiohead album. I know that's controversial but it's pinnacle of what came before. The prefect synthesis of the rock of The Bends/OK Computer and the electronic of Kid A/Amnesiac. They achieved the perfect album in my opinion. Of Course I love all the other albums but this stands out as the best.
This is one of their best performances. You can see it on Thom’a face at the end. He knows he nailed it. This is such a simple song and it creates such a vivid and simmering atmosphere. What a performance
he's like "yeah, I am King Shit"
I guess he has some unpitched moments in his vocals but the magic in the song still there
Exacto
He was kinda crying bro😢 like every fan of this song
This song has such an unusual melody. Thom nailed this vocal performance.
Yes
my all time favorite radiohead song and their most underrated
+Dominic Amiel for me too
So true... My fave also
Not my fav but criminally underrated
listen to the zephyr song by rhcp, very similar riff
my favorite song of Hail To The Thief, i also think that this song is one of their most underrated songs
Hail To The Thief is my favorite Radiohead album. Such an underrated masterpiece.
Agreed and it just keeps holding up over time .
It's my favorite too
3:23 Thom nails it & he knows it...
He looks like he's really beat his goal there😂
3:17
3:25 - Thom really enjoying the song
Me: WHY DON'T YOU PLAY IT MORE OFTEN???!!!
Because this song broke his vocal chords in 2004
@@Moutch68really???
"The roof is pulling off by its fingernails
Your voice is rattlin' on my window sill"
Some of the best imagery in a Radiohead song
I've always thought the same thing. Have a thumbs up.
The joy of Radiohead is knowing the lyrics. Its not the only joy and often it's far from joy but when you know the lyrics, you know.
some of his best lyrics even to this day are on hail to the thief, come to think of it. which is funny, because i remember reading that a lot of the lyrics in on this album were placeholders that he just never bothered changing. i cant source that, but i think i read it from an interview or something
The roofer is hanging on by his fingernails, but you sit laughing by the windowsill,on nikki, daughter of satan how I miss you so....
i thought he says rappin'
i was in the audience ... Eurockeennes 2003 ! Maybe one of their best performance ever
What a great memory!
Better than the Beatles.
So simple, yet so complex. Radiohead's main characteristic but on this masterpiece it shows beautifully. A truly unique band.
For me, Radiohead's most underestimated masterpiece.
Brilliant. I keep coming back to this version because obviously it's hell of a performance, and because the bass line is more audible, and adds so much to jonny's and thom's lines
Any fool can easy pick a hole, oh I only wish I could fall in...
Wadsmitter, come on man, don't be toxic.
Perfectly perfect.
@MilborgZackt FeeboltSeven 100%, my favourite line in the whole song
This is one of my top 9 favourite songs of all time
They should bring this one back to their setlists!
if u really listen wif yr heart.. tears fall in..

For many people the best radiohead songs are "Creep", "Karma Police", "Paranoid Android", "High&Dry", "Fake Plastic Trees", etc. But for me "Scatterbrain" is one of their best songs.
Totally agree with you, scatterbrain is an amazing song, is in my top 10 definitely.
hard to choose, really.. they have quite number of amazing, iconic songs that describe them.
fake plastic trees and scatterbrain are my favorites though
Same for me. Also Let Down.
Mine is Nude. In rainbows is my probably my favourite album.
I'm going to my first ever Radiohead concert and I really hope they don't play Creep. I can do without Karma Police and Fake Plastic Trees as well
This song is so stripped back, the vocals are in such a vulnerabie position, well done Thom for nailing. Brave man

Jhonny's guitar is spot on! Perfection!
nobody noticed the emotional thom nearly cry at the end? :)
Simply nailed it. Voice quivers when it's suppossed to and soars when it needs to. Perfect live rendition of a rarely played fave.
I love the emotion of this song. God, the way he says "scatterbrain". It reminds me of the feeling I get from How to Disappear Completely. It's tragic almost, begging and pleading.
Finally a good quality version of this song on youtube.
Thanks so much.
I love Thom so much
an insatiable love and thirst for Radiohead sent me here.
Thom Yorke is a musical genius.
This song is second ONLY to Wolf At The Door as my favorite RH song (coincidentally the song after it on HTTT) what a way to close that record.
thom so pleased with how he hit the note at 3:17
ONE 9: scatterbrain
Bittersweet feeling when I hear this. Play it live again guys.
The vocal melody for this song is fucking killer.
Immaculate,Flawless.
