What I admire most about Radiohead is that although Thom is their lead singer, they are all really front men. Everyone of them contributes so much to the overall sound. It’s so beautiful to listen to and watch.
I believe everyone in the band has had a solo record but Colin. However, often in reaction videos I hear people giving props to the bassist. I do think the ultimate genius behind Radiohead is a combination of Thom’s writing with Jonny’s ambient, orchestral, lead guitar brilliance, but it can’t be denied that the other three members are just exceptional musicians. It takes all five for them to bring it together.
for real though, when Jonny & Thom wanted to start getting weird with it during the Kid A sessions a lot of second lead guitarists might have left to try doing their own thing considering he would have been in high demand after the success of OK Computer, but instead he just decided to learn how to create texture and ambience with pedals and his backing vocals. there's a reason he's always been called the secret weapon of the band
4:00 I love this part, this year Radiohead has been like a drug, I dug deep into their discography and can’t stop listening now, better late than never I guess
1:35 why Jonny greenwood is the man. So little played but, it emotes such a wonderful feeling and falls into the Alex lifeson territory vs the Steve vai category where the latter makes you think “I wish I could play that” JG and AL make you think “I wish I thought of that” .
Drums make me think of Indian sun dances and Jonny's little guitar strum piece makes me visualize a camera panning prehistoric plains. Don't know why, though.
It’s been too long without Radiohead 😢 I really love the smile so much and their 3 albums have been so amazing but I’m really craving another Radiohead album so much now
Sure they are in a studio but the recording was live , they are so talented live almost better live than in recordings , even Dave Grohl says Radiohead is mind blowing amazing coming from him means this band has very high standards of quality and I totally agree.
That felt really heroic, strangely like they had contested over and over in order to perform something greater than the vision they had in themselves. Playing art like that must be exhausted, but somehow they find the creative strength. It's inspiring! Radiohead is probably my favorite band...

I agree , collective geniuses
🤜🏽🤛🏽
Except for Ed. I dont see his point in the band
What I admire the most is that it's in writing. They all get writing credits on every song.
ED cupping his hands and saying “aaaaAaAaAaAAAAAaAAaa” was amazing
Edd hand cupping vocals are so great for the atmosphere!
If you listen closely, you can notice he's actually singing, "eeeeeeddddddd"
As I read your comment the video went in that part of the song
arguably nobody has ever been better at their job than Ed is at being the guy who makes noises for Radiohead
for real though, when Jonny & Thom wanted to start getting weird with it during the Kid A sessions a lot of second lead guitarists might have left to try doing their own thing considering he would have been in high demand after the success of OK Computer, but instead he just decided to learn how to create texture and ambience with pedals and his backing vocals. there's a reason he's always been called the secret weapon of the band
ED's back vocal is just sick.
exactly he really adds so much to the song
You're cool for saying it! Thank You!!!
4:00 I love this part, this year Radiohead has been like a drug, I dug deep into their discography and can’t stop listening now, better late than never I guess
last minute from this is just perfection
Yes
Last 2 minutes for me
Especially last 5 minutes
Johnny slashing those chords at the end give me the chills every time. He is so locked into the song.
tom - vox, strummed gutar
ed - strummed guitar, screaming
johnny - lead guitar
collin - big guitar
phillip - percussion
1:35 why Jonny greenwood is the man. So little played but, it emotes such a wonderful feeling and falls into the Alex lifeson territory vs the Steve vai category where the latter makes you think “I wish I could play that” JG and AL make you think “I wish I thought of that” .
Perfect bro!
The fucking bass in this song.
Yeah, I could hear it in the album version
You’re very optimistic if you want a live from the basement for AMSP.
Would be impossible for how orchestraic the album is but would be extremely nice
I think it would be possible. The King of Limbs gig from the basement had a widely spread ensemble of musicians, too
@@evansingleton9261they’re Radiohead, they make anything possible, that’s their job
The best live concert from the greatest band of the world.
They are the greatest band in the world, but this is not their best concert
Greatest in the world? One of the greatest but not the greatest tbh
@@TunaMayoInumaki who tops them
Er, possibly the best 5-MEMBER rock band...
2-member: White Stripes...
3: Jimi Hendrix Experience, Nirvana, Cream...
4: Good Lord, you decide...
@@LocalCoot that’s like your opinion man.
The ending. It’s the ending that gives me optimism
I could never tire of this song. Just love how they are all completely plugged into their roles...
such an underrated song
One of the best outro in the universe.
The last 35 sec Jhonny's Guitar is AWESOME !!!!
Been listening to this song for decades. Weird how you finally understand it after a thousand listens or so.
My favorite Radiohead song, easily.
this song- these notes- this version...just extraordinary
Such a unique sound
You can try the best you can. If you try the best you can, the best you can is good enough... 🙌🏻
The best you can is good enough?
@@fallendevil471 figuring out what's best and then sticking to it, that's the hard part
Listening to this before work...have been fortunate enough to see radiohead live 3 times and it was life changing...
Wow, 3 times? I'm extremely jealous. ❤
I've never got dissatisfied with these guys 🖤
It’s the tribal drum beat that underpins the whole thing 😉 genius work from a genius band 😊
yes!
And the bass I’d say
How does this not have a zillion views
Pretty good to start the day
The most empowering song I know, thank you Radiohead.
I prefer this version of the song!
It's so much more dynamic!
The last 60 seconds of this is mindblowing
Greatest band of all time
On repeat 🔂 love rediscovering the amazing discography of Radiohead over and over again. Pure genius ✨
This tempo makes the song hit so much harder!
this seems really difficult to play on the drums. pretty impressive
Its not really its a very simple drum pattern, the fills in the outro can be difficult on the studio version
The outro fills are one of my favourite parts but they aren’t in this version and it saddens me
@@CS.94 sad we dont have a basement kid a as well
Drums make me think of Indian sun dances and Jonny's little guitar strum piece makes me visualize a camera panning prehistoric plains. Don't know why, though.
Sorry guys, but this is WAY BETTER than good enough! Thank you!
It’s been too long without Radiohead 😢 I really love the smile so much and their 3 albums have been so amazing but I’m really craving another Radiohead album so much now
Such a beautiful song.
Yes.
Jonny commits a straight up felony assault on his guitar to end this masterpiece.
This song is so mesmerizing and it has a sad quality to it ❤ great song.
Just look at Phill jamming 🙌 Pure enjoyment in that man's face
masterpiece
so good I have to open my windows and throw back the bricks
favourite version of my favourite song!
What a shame they didn’t segue into In Limbo. Even just four bars would have satisfied me!
I doubt it will ever happen...but kid a for a session like this would literally make it the best thing ever
This song is when I learned I loved Radiohead ❤
Why this scores so well with my office work is inexplicable, aside from the fact that my creativity in my practice of my craft blossoms when it plays.
Brilliant
I generally dislike live renditions, but RH literally transcends their own radio versions.
then you're listening to the wrong bands
Goosebumps every time.
Every time the song is over, Jonny looks up at Thom, like "Did we get it? Was that good?"
I like Radiohead.
Me too man, me too.
Band that consistently bring up quirky and badass riff
Love that Johnny still uses that mighty little Fender Eighty Five amp.
Colin, *you’re such a fukkin rock star! I LOVE YOU!*
Una obra maestra 💪🏻

Well let’s be honest Dave Grohl calls anyone amazing, he’s a kind dude
Respect to Dave but there is simply no comparison between the 2

Underated song imo
Is it only Radiohead and no one else in the basement? Do you have them locked in there or something?
lolz - yeah nigel only releases them every few years for the new album cycle
And Stanley visits to give them food
@@redhippopotamus9144 …or to paint them another pretty painting to keep them entertained
