In this video, we discuss some Team Fortress 2 weapons with weird, silly, funny little niches. Niches a bit more specialized than "deal more damage" or "be bad" (thanks Righteous Bison). This video was inspired by similar Pokemon videos by @BigYellowSilly and @HumanReverend , and I'd encourage you to check them out if you're at all inclined.

Hey all! I hope you enjoy this little return to TF2 form. I wanted to make a smaller video to ease myself back in, but I hope y'all enjoy regardless.
Also, I apologize that the clips don't do a great job demonstrating what I'm discussing at certain points. The TF2 Item servers have been *exceptionally* unstable for the past few days, and it made consistently getting footage for this video a bit tricky. Again, I hope you enjoy regardless.
👍
Hey it's me I'm the guy in the story
Hey it's me, the other one
@@BigYellowSilly I'm seeing double! 4 RBY semi-specific youtubers!
And me too
Hey, it's me, Goku!
Hey, it's you! The guy in the story!
I like how he used the words "brain rotted" and "among us" in the same sentence.
8:51 Fun MvM Fact: If you get max explosive resistance and you're revved with the Natascha/Brass Beast, you can survive a Sentry Buster blast *without overheal*.
yesssss i love using it for this reason, i can just ignore this big ball of boom on legs and keep making scrap, saves me having to panic and try to run away with my stubby little legs
Yep, just shake off the explosion for maximum bit killing, for that T-100,000,000 achievement ain't gonna get itself
2:28 fun fact: ANY heavy “take x health in a single life” contract for the jungle inferno contract is able to be cheesed on VSH
wait does official VSH still count mr Hale as a Heavy
I tested it with the second banana contract, and if I had the banana equipped during VSH and I got to be hale, it would count towards it.
Unsure about melees, but I think the brass beast would work as well
@@r.ndomperson yes
Small correction: Warrior's Spirit is the strongest UNBOOSTED damage per hit. The highest melee damage on hit is a 1hp Soldier with Equalizer, which is incredibly hard to replicate in a normal game, but still.
The Sharpened Volcano Fragment wouldnt work since the Dead Ringer gives Spy immunity to Afterburn specifically for the first few seconds on cloak
Will corroborate this to be true.
There *_may_* be a split second moment where the dissipating flame particles linger on the (still living) Spy's silhouette but it could just as much be Server Jank, Source Spaghetti Code, or my own memory failing me. I've not had a lot of time to play in the last few months.
@@SproingBoing that’s just how Afterburn immunity works.
@@supermudkipz Ah, I see. Cheers boss.
My memory is worse than I thought lmao.
I have no idea if it was intentional but using the combination of the god forsaken words “among” and “us” while talking about brain rot at 0:51 is incredible
My favorite niche I've discovered:
The Manmelter acts as a great counter to a dragon's fury charging your team, as the manmelter can just hold right-click and take in crits over and over, while at the same time cancelling out the dragon's fury's 3x damage multiplier on burning targets
Pyro VS Pyro class wars are a great place to farm a strange one, you can still extinguish friendly Pyros in the single second they take afterburn damage.
It also happens to actually pair well with the Dragons Fury when used together. It covers the airblast weakness in regards to extinguishing and a crit flare + a fireball is really good damage.
The Manmelter on its own is also a great Sniper pesterer since it’s the fastest flare gun and with crits it will actually one shot a Sniper if they can’t be extinguished in time.
It's also a great counter against pyro spamming scorch shot on your team to charge their phlog. Your are stealing their crits
0:41 bro caught pressing w while rocket jumping
If i had a nickel for every youtuber i watch who makes well-informed essays about video games discussing specific use cases for items/characters in a player’s arsenal whos most well-known by their youtube url, a color, id have two nickels, which is weird that it happened twice.
Love this video! I never knew that knowledge on the sydney sleeper and quick-fix, and something i know personally from my experience in tf2 is that the Baby Face’s Blaster, though not always effective, is a pretty good gap-closer against full headed demoknights and scouts, making the scout matchup between the two classes a bit more effective in your favor.
Bro really sounds like 🤓
10:07 the warrior’s spirit has a very specific niche in MvM on certain maps, being for tank busting.
I’ve outdamaged multiple pyros in tank damage on Rottenburg using the Warrior’s spirit/steak sandvich. It’s actually pretty ridiculous.
Who knew the hibernating bear set could be so viable?
Same here. It's always funny when my teammates go from "Heavy, why are you going after the tank? You are dealing 75% less damage to it!" to "Heavy, how the fuck did you outperform us all in tank damage?!"
@@AbadabaForever I had some mid-tour Marvin tell me “it’s a 75% damage resistance against ALL of Heavy’s weapons, including secondary/melee”
Then I outperformed the phlog pyro using the steak/warrior’s spirit.
Best 800 credits I ever spent.
The chocolate bar when paired with the GRU. Eating the bar automatically resets your health up to 350 no matter what you were at with the GRU.
I dont know if thats niche enough but i do love the combo
0:25 Nah, Vergil's archetype is MOTIVATION
I NEED MORE POWER!
Disguising yourself as an enemy sniper, then looking up and spinning around, might cause the enemy sniper to get kicked
That’s lowkey smart
7:31 slight correction the warrior's spirit has the 2nd highest per hit melee damage, behind the equalizer at low health
107 damage at low health vs Warrior's Spirit 84
Honorable mentions are the Backscratcher in 3rd place at 81 and the Skullcutter at 78.
10:07 the equalizer, when paired with the battalion’s backup, does around 600+ damage on a crit against the steel gauntlet pusher giants in MvM, and you can tank basically whatever, despite being at low health.
Also demo knight on wave 5 of broken parts(when using the chargin targe with max explosive and crit res) is extremely viable for the same reasons.
Something like 780 damage per hit with max damage upgrades on the eyelander
One time I was under the 2fort battlements as demo w/ loch n load, ran into a brass beast heavy, emptied my clip, then stood there like an idiot when he didn’t die and gunned me down
Both of my additions to the cooking pot are somewhat explosion related. The reserve shooter on pyro allows you to combo a reflected soldier rocket into a double minicrit combo that is a near guaranteed one shot short of an overhealed batallions backup soldier. And the dead ringer allows you to safely damage surf rockets with any knife with good timing which can even let you trick stab the deliverer of said rocket if you decloak immediately in midair which causes the soldier's computer to instantly uninstall not just tf2 but steam as a whole out of sheer embarrassment.
Big Yellows stuff is great! Love this approach and hearing about somethings I both have and have never thought of in this game is really neat.
When he says something is common knowledge and you never heard of it
holy shit, I had no idea about being able to activate the Hitman's Heatmaker ability early. I have 150 hours in sniper and I didn't know.
fun fact, this vid is how i learned the heatmaker can be used at any focus level
7:32 The Warrior's Spirit deals the highest, non-conditional, melee damage, the Equalizer, half zatoichi, and all of spy's knifes deal more in that order, BUT all require conditions to reach those points, being low on hp, hitting another player wielding it and backstabs specifically.
multiclass melee weapons can make the enemy team unaware of what class you're using, making them direct upgrades too.
7:31 the Equaliser actually deals more damage while at one health acting as a 65% increase from stock.
The base damage is 107, a mini-crit is 144 which can one shot light classes and a full crit is 321 which is enough to one shot all classes without overheal and even most classes with their overheal.
absolute banger of a video tbh fascinating topic with clever takes but most of all the pacing, writing and montage of the whole thing was just chefs kiss, not to mention some incredibly delivered jokes, keep up the good work this is amazing in terms of yt content
I am not sure if this counts or not but a thing I never see anyone talk about is how the Red Tape Recorder will instantly drain a dispenser's entire metal supply, even if it fails to destroy or even de-level the building. So if you ever had a snack get stuck in a vending machine and you just have it out for em now, you're equipped with the know-how to mildly frustrate the engineer who built it.
Yeah Zesty doesn't like the fact that the Holiday Punch can stun ubers while most will argue against him because it's on the slowest class if you let a heavy get that close you have only yourself to blame.
I agree.
The slowdown mechanic of the Sandman and Natascha (already niche weapons) can be largely negated by enemies just from holding forward and alternating left/right to strafe diagonally. Now in practice few players would remember to do this on reaction to such a rare effect, but it's like adding insult to injury for those weapons.
The damage resistance of the Fists of Steel lets Heavy survive some taunt kills, some without even needing overheal. Because of the overheal penalty, the mediguns never actually reach the lower Uber build rate because Heavy prevents himself from getting max overheal. The overheal penalty doesn't apply if you take out the Fists of Steel after the Medic starts healing too.
The Dalokohs Bar can be more useful than intended, it can heal more than 100 HP if the max health drain of the G.R.U. or Eviction Notice is still present.
The Classic's ability to scope without charging has lead to two incredibly niche gimmicks I've made way more use of than I'd ever expect.
1. You can team up with a friend and use it as a Spotter's Scope, calling out targets from a hidden position in an obscure faraway map corner
2. Scoping in and tap firing can put out a surprising amount of support damage if you don't want to give away your position. Tap firing a Classic is a bit inconsistent, so you'll often do slightly more than the base 45, and let me tell you, no one expects to take 50-ish damage from across the map with only the damage direction marker hinting at where you are. Especially if they're in a team fight. I've picked up more assists, kills, and objective defenses than I have any right to doing this
your script writing is so great and funny i love it
One of the best and most underrated weapons is the Scottish resistance, people seriously put way too much emphasis on its longer arm time when the firing speed + extra stickies + individual det combo is absolutely insane. Just try the Scottish resistance like a carpeting and longer range spam tool and get good with pipes and watch the kills roll in
2600 hours in the game and there were a lot of these I didn't know
like I didn't know you could activate the hitman's heatmaker charge at any percent
very interesting video
I didn't know most of these to be honest. PLEASE make another video! Someone feed him ideas QUICK!
The liberty launcher and the air strike both have a niche in their stats, but I never really see people take advantage of it or talk about it. The reduced blast jumping damage is really useful on both weapons, and on the liberty launcher in particular if you pair it with the gunboats you can go diet trolldier with rocket jumps that cost like 12-18hp while still maintaining a damaging primary
Moxie boosted is also a good competitive pokertuber
Enforcer vs Wrangled sentries seems to be its only real upside, which is funny
1,400 hours in tf2... didn't know the first one lmao.
Wasn’t mentioned in the video, but you can headshot with the Sydney sleeper if you are Critz Creek it not the mini one either
The fact im in the centre of this three way venn diagram of someone who watches all 3 UA-camrs. Im happy
one funny thing is that, you said warriors spirit is forgotten and everybody forgets it does about 85 dmg;
and then the backscratcher isn't mentioned [i think it does 80 dmg, maybe 81-83] but you still have your normal pyro speed, which is faster than the skullcutter or warriors spirit heavy.
Meaning it's the most viable high damage melee, that does it's damage reliably [unlike axtinguisher for e.g.; it's better for dmg, but you need to use other weapons with it, making it less reliable]
babe wake up, new Opal video just dropped
heres a fun fact, the gas passer recharges faster if you get crits on back scratcher
in tf2, standing in water counts as being wet, and you're still considered wet by the game for five seconds after exiting water.
pyroshark in 2fort sewers go brrrrrrr
They're just weird little guys
Big Yellow mentioned!!! She's actually one of my favorite youtubers XD Love the videos as usual!!
The wip hitting enemies on your head or right up your rear.
Also might just be me but iirc huo-long heater actually has the highest after burn damage in the game. I think I remember taking 5 damage per tick when I want using any weapons that marked me for death or gave me a vulnerability.
0:50
among us lol!
"Nice work Spy."
Bro you are watching the best legotuber and YGOtuber of all time. Big shouts to Large Yelloeseph and Rev "Finally Back From The Cigarette Store" Erend
The sydney sleeper can extinguish teammates!
Good video... a little niche for me, but good
If you pull out then put away the dead ringer as spy with your revolver out it skips the delay between shots.
This completely useless unless you’re in a x10 or higher server.
holy shit, heatmaker mentioned in 2024
Holy crap, big yellow and reverend mention (two of my favorite UA-camrs ever)
Even the TFTubers know that Vergil is bullshit
Haha, he said truly brain rotted amongus
literally watched this video just to waste time and it was the right length
Really enjoyed this one, nice!
Well, to the same Extent as a strange original. A strange PDA cost around that price if not more. Valve really needs to let us design more war skins for these types of weapons
5:21 I don't think that's a bug? The effect is the same as it is in real life
I knew each and every one of these am I cooked💀
Is red tape being good against mini sentry engis still considered niche knowledge?
Such good editing 🔥
did u kno viggo broke his foot wen he kick da bucket?
I too enjoy BigYellow and Reverent! :D
ELPHET! 16!!!! VEEERRRGIIIILLLL!!!!
0:00 archetype?
is that a quarterguy reference?
i sure do love some tf2 niches
Keeping making more bangers 🔥🔥🔥
Who's the pink "rushdown" girl 0:20?
Elphelt Valentine from Guilty Gear Strive! She cute and fun.

bro "LEAVE ME ALONE" is playing tf2!?!?!
bruh when talking about direct upgrades you really didn't mention the third degree?
It wasn't relevant to the specific conversation at hand in this video. I DID talk about it in my Ranking Every Stock Melee video though.
I'm cooming
Nice
I feel like hes cheating because of his mouse movement
I am Pyro. I became real.
Bro, you're a nerd
Who would have guessed
another specific niche thing is enforcer penetrating any form of damage resistance be it buff banner, vaccinator or the wrangler !
did you mean the battalion’s backup? because the buff banner doesn’t grant damag resistances
This would be useful if the enforcer had reduced spread cooldown, since at ranges where bullet spread wont matter, sappers are probably better
