The Red Tape Recorder also has a niche where it is slightly better against Engie nests than the stock sapper, since it can at least downgrade a couple buildings and force minor progress for nest busting (compared to the stock sapper dealing half the sentry's health and it just being healed away immediately), and six level 2 sentries are considerably easier to take out than six level 3 sentries.
Also, the Red Tape Recorder taking longer to kill mini sentries can make it slightly better against them. Engineers don't usually bother unsapping minis since they can just build a new one when the old one blows up, and the RTR makes them wait longer.
@@calsalitra4689 They could probably just self-destruct them, though. Minis are so disposable that at least a few Gunslinger Engis will just self-destruct them when they need to relocate, activate Frontier Justice, or anything else.
@@syweb2 Cant self destruct if a building is being sapped.
Also SUPER niche where if you can scare a engie carrying something by walking into him obviously then make him place his building so he can fight back, the red tape recorder will nearly instantly kill the engineer's building. Super niche, but if you like to play aggressive, there's red tape recorder's ACTUAL use in god knows 8 years. This works equally as well for level 2 and 3 buildings. So yeah! Red Tape Recorder FINALLY has a geniune use and not "well it's slightly better then stock in these 2 super niche regards.."
I have had people genuinely just forget the Atomizer minicrits while airborne and question if I was cheating.
The Red Tape Recorder actually has something to note that I have had happen a few times.
Because it takes so long t, sap a building, if you die before the building you sapped dies, the Red Tape Recorder will usually just finish sapping just as you respawn, and if you have the Diamondback, you can get a free crit for something you did before you died.
An atomizer mini-crit does precisely 5 damage more than a regular bat swing, making the whole piranha scout gimmick almost entirely useless.
I actually use the red tape recorder on defense. If BLU has a battle engi, you can sap his mini sentry which will take forever to be destroyed, forcing them to either unsap it or wait for it to be destroyed. This is even better if they have the frontier justice. They see the mini sentry as disposable so they won't even bother to unsap it.
Was going to mention this. If this happens in the middle of a fight, they’ll have to deal with having no partner for at least eight seconds or try to break the sapper while being unable to fight back.
This is the one niche instance where the RTR taking so long to sap is a boon.
Can't they just self-destruct it?
@@syweb2 no, a sapped building can't be self-destructed
The Short Circuit lets you blast jump in very specific places on certain maps. Uncle Dane did a whole video on it a while ago, but it could be a fun thing to mention. Great video!
6:00 That FaN jump can let you consistently climb the 2Fort grate across spawn or jump back to the ground level from the sewers.
I'll never forget the feeling when I accidentally discovered the extra high FaN jump and immediately started looking for more vertical climbs to start catching people off guard from below
Even though I have the most amount of hours on Scout, I did not know about that FaN jump interaction, thats really neat and I guess explains why Ive seen the fan more these days
Oh hey! I commented that bit about the Red Tape! Wasn't aware it was *even more* specific to just level 1 dispensers tho. Goes to show how often I get my dispensers sapped by the red tape lol. Still, thanks for covering it!
Extremely niche charge trick: if you want to land a crit swing on someone who is too close to normally land one, you could jump use the base jumper and then charge because the air speed limit applies to the charge so you end up with this really strange airborne slow charge state
Red tape actually has two more niche use cases.
And here's a few more quirks of others weapons.
It can deny eureka effect engineers from teleporting to their teleporter exit while it's being sapped which they can normally do when it's being sapped by a normal sapper, and sapping a building as it's being redeployed both sets it to level 1 and if the sapper isn't removed can destroy the building incredibly quickly. So if you see an engineer moving his buildings out you can de-cloak directly in front of him, sap his buildings and zig zag for a few moments before just leaving with their hard earned level 3 building poofed in a fraction of the time it would require to destroy otherwise.
The short circuit for how controversial as it is can deal 30 to 45 damage consistently if it hits the ground after it hits an enemy. Dealing the 15 damage tick once or twice before hitting the ground which triggers another 15 damage tick, and on surfaces which move it can deal up to 60 damage where it ticks twice on an enemy before being destroyed by hitting a moving object which causes it to explode twice for some reason. Also lets you deal consistently 45 damage to anyone next to a payload cart.
Machina deals enough damage with a fully charged headshot to kill an overhealed heavy with natasha, brass beast, or with a bullet vac on him with out a bubble and consistently lets you make rocket jumping soldiers, sticky jumping demos, trimping demoknights, and jet packing pyros crater or die to fall damage with a full charged body shot. It also one shots light classes overhealed with the quick fix. Or just medics with the vac who are healing someone with out a bubble.
Force A nature getting more height then normal is actually really easy and doesn't require exactly a 45 degree angle and is quite lenient, furthermore it's best done with a running start so it can transition your forward momentum into upwards momentum which even lets you make it out of 2fort sewers with some pratice. It can also be done in reverse with a lot of downwards moment and turning it into forwards momentum on maps with a lot of verticality like thunder mountain last or hightower when shooting behind you at a 45 degree angle when falling.
Boston basher and by extension 3 rune blade can be used for jumping which can be extended by crouching jumping and swinging in a short time frame, importantly, a jump and crouch, not a c-tap. If done right one swing can get you higher then a doubble jump, like through the vents/grate, over the fence on sawmill.
The sandman and wrap assassin bug still hasn't been fixed which let you get consistent crits on their projectiles with the right set up. It means the sand man and cleaver combo still works on light classes and the wrap assasian is even more powerful then it already is. (Which already deals more damage then a Boston basher hit with out crits if the bobble/ornament hits directly and kills light classes in combination with a cleaver hit consistently if they both hit directly.) If done with a wrap assassin crit it can even kill a medic from full health if they don't find health. (Set up is using a sand man ball in spawn then changing classes back and forth until you get one that crits, then all you have to do is swing once then your next bobble or ball will always crit until you change classes. Don't ask how but this actually persists across servers and map changes so you can set this up in a community server with random crits on then swap to a casual match. If you only select scout the bug transfers over.)
Though it's hard to pull off and is more of a damage number thing, one fan o war hit and a flying guillotine hit will kill a light class if they don't get any health in time. And I do mean *any* health as even the passive health regeneration from the cozy camper can save their life and on 2fort their resupply is so close they can reach it before bleeding to death as they die on the last tick of the bleed. It's more so a trick to get snipers to panic and delay their death for as long as possible rather then an actual strategy but it is funny. Though, flying guillotine into Boston basher is more consistent and kills faster and you can use the Flying gullotine first which is harder to hit and then melee them once before running away.
I keep finding more shit to add to this. I've played way too much gorge for this...

Nice work but I’m not reading all off that I got halfway then felt like I’m reading the source before a test
I actually have another rare niche for the RTR, that being it can actually destroy buildings (technically) faster than the Stock Sapper. Once an engineer puts down a building if it's sapped immediately, it'll be destroyed too quick to break the sapper itself. Hilariously useful for when engies are moving their buildings as it forces them to place the buildings before attacking you.
UA-cam really shoving this one at me early
Same
Rral
The reason the chocolate bar interacts like that is because there was a glitch where by re-supply spamming while quick swapping and eating the choclate bar (quick swap between glove and bar) you could gain infinite hp there was no hard cap and it would just go up forever, however once the hp went down which it did naturally it would not come back.
The Sandman has a niche for being great against Demoknights since the slow effect can cancel their charge and also prevent charging in the first place. The slow effect can also allow a Scout to run away from a maximum-head Eyelander Demoknight. The Sandman also stuns still on moonshots in MVM, which can allow you to stunlock giants if you have the correct upgrades.
I love the brast beast, if you play with it for a while, then you switch to another minigun you will feel heavy is like really fast. On top of that there's nothing more scarier than finding a fully reved up brast beast heavy at the other side of a corner.
the pyro can be a shark; the scout can be a piranha.
6:15 it doesn't have to be precisely 45 degrees at all, it only needs to be approximate, it's more in the technique of crouch jumping at the right moment, you get basically the same result every time, heck you can even look forwards and it'll work
Brass beast resistance is insane. I recently had a pocket medic with a vaccinator on defense while I had the brass beast. During the other heavy's full 8 seconds of stock Uber, they could only deal about 50% of my HP (then died when their Uber ran out)
2:45 When Jungle Inferno just dropped this interaction was so buggy that it allowed Heavies to achieve infinite health.
I really like the red tape recorders niiche that lets it instantly destroy buildings that have been just deployed. The animation of the sentry deploying is the same animation that the red tape recorder is reversing. So if zapped at the moment the sentry is deployed the sentry just instantly unexists before they can react. This can be easily achieved by uncloaking infront of an engineer that is moving their buildings. They will more then likely panick and deploy there building on the spot to get out their shot gun giving you a perfect window to zap it with the recorder.
Another niche use of the GRU is to lower your health with it just enough so the banana fills you to full health instead of only 200
6:27 "extremely strict angle" sounds like a skill issue if im being honest
Another fun tf2 niche I just never see is how the neon annihilator can crit on milked and jarated opponents. However, you’d probably need either a friend or luck so then you can have a Sydney sleeper sniper so then you can optimize your sub-optimal strategy.
It’s a shame The Diamondback does so much damage. I’d like to say that The Enforcer helps in the niche instance where an injured enemy realizes you’re a Spy, but having emergency crits in hand fills that role even better. :(
Strange mediguns will also count uber's used in MVM.
All of heavy's lunchbox items also increase in strange count if eaten in training mode. Just like the banners
The red-tape recorder can instantly destroy buildings that are just placed down after being moved, the stock sapper drains from the building’s full health, the red-tape recorder instantly destroys it
COOL :). Now Heavy is no longer a raid boss :D. Red Tape Recorder Spies: ARISE MY BRETHERN! OUR TIME IS NIGH!
the enforcer has a very nice niche of dropping Vaccinator Medics and Wrangler Sentries.
YES! He covered my favorite item combo! Bar plus GRUE is actually great
Well I didn't have the nicest day but after watching this video it just got better. Thanks opal
The Caber does the most melee damage and can also one shot heavy.
Well damn, I didn't even know the atomizer did mini crits on airborne opponents. Good video, just like the last one.
1:08 a fully upgraded Targe Knight can do this as well!
honestly videos like these are so fun to watch. i'd be down to watch them for even non-tf2 games if you have any plans for that.
FAN jumps also require forward momentum. I think this is because the game scales the knockback velocity vector so that it will completely cancel your horizontal velocity. The higher your horizontal velocity, the larger the knockback vector is scaled, and consequently the larger the vertical component of that vector is. I've tried this on jump servers with the concussion grenade plugin, and a 45 degree shot while flying extremely fast horizontally gives insane vertical height off the jump. Also 45 degrees isn't super important, most jumps are makeable without extreme precision. The only big one I can think of that's actually tough to pull off is jumping to the roof of suijin on the side where there's the small health pack. If you go from the ground it's a tough jump but you can always just go from the platform that has the pack to make it easy.
Fun fact
The highest damage RESISTANCE used ti be the dead ringer
It could survive 3 backstabs
1 normal
2 2nd while DR
3rd killed the DR invisi spy.
Ive done it several times pre nerf / rework
It actually activated when you jumped off cliffs or ledges in insta kill areas. Then you died a second later lol
You can also farm strange mediguns in MvM, as long as you pop it attach to somebody too
“specific breed of brain rot”
Agreed
GRU and Dalokah bar are so good they made 3 billion health Heavy possible
not to be that guy but i wouldnt really call the force a nature thing difficult at all, you just have to know about the 45 degree angle thing. ive never been very good at precise inputs but i can fan jump properly every time
Yeah that's fair. I only just started trying it out so I'm sure I'll get acclimated to it more as I keep doing it.
As Delfy demonstrated, the RTR can kill buildings that are being redeployed almost instantly. Not SUPER helpful, but funny as shit.
Guys, I know it sounds bad but frontier justice is just a diamondback but a little worse (or better, im not sure yet)
The Stock Fist and The huntsman can hit people where it really shouldn't for example a gap if you can snipe through it you can use the taunt the enemy player
for making use of FaN jumps the angle isnt nearly as narrow as it seems
I just love watching tf2 videos so ty for the content bro 😊

It's really not but I appreciate the thought
its to early for dad jokes Teal
Of course heavy gets killed instantly by random crits, that's not really a niche.
It kind of is when no other non-instant kill (Sniper, Spy, Stickies) weapon in the game does it tho. I encourage you to go read the random crit damage values for every weapon, literally nothing else does enough damage to one shot him through the Natascha and Brass Beast's damage res.
With the dead ringer you can disguise as a teammate to fake their death
Helpful when that annoying scout keeps focusing your medic

Why does he say “Fan” when talking about the Force of Nature?
F.A.N = Force A Nature
GAMER
The reserve shooter allows pyro to minicrit soldiers using a reflected rocket essentially giving them an instant kill combo on any overconfident soldier. And the deadringer allows you to strafe on rockets using any knife (including an non health boosted kunai) even allowing you to midair trick stab the soldier who gave you the rocket, causing his computer to instantly uninstall not just tf2 but the entirety of steam as well.
