This is why I have been subscribed to Anna since I started my MSW program. She defends and support Social work and social workers so much it is very encouraging in addition to sharing her real-world experiences through her education and career. Also, how she explained social work income was flawless 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

As of right now, it is better to be unlicenced now that the SW field are communists or marxist. I have to whistle blow. For your ethics and reputation. Spread this around and whistle blow. 2030 does not look really good and disturbing.
Great video! The income part is SO TRUE. I’m a junior BSW major and I get so nervous telling people my major because of hearing I’ll never make any money! So thank you for including that 💕
I think the conversation should be rephrased because people who are young don't understand the money discussion. It's not that you won't make enough money to be rich or upper middle class, it's that you won't make enough to have a comfortable middle class lifestyle, but you still have a lot of student debt. People should understand this before going 5-6 years to university to study difficult research that I doubt you will really use in your job. People change their mindset and priorities once they mature so your context is everything. Let's say she is married to an accountant and this helps her....but what if you're not married at all or you partner with someone who earns just as low a salary as you? Talk to people who have worked for 10-20 years in the field to have a better image. Money is not a problem now because as a woman you imagine yourself married in the future with an accountant, engineer etc..it becomes a problem when you will need it and have no way to get it.
I busted out laughing when you said it's not like an accountant because I'm a social worker and my husband is an accountant and we say that all the time; people just don't question him.
Wow I loved the part where u said you can have a passion for social work but still not make it your life. OK THIS !! I am a senior BSW student & feel like everyone is so involved on campus & in social work events & clubs & I just try to balance school with life since our social work program has been hard for me but I love it over all!! It’s nice to hear that I don’t need to be crossing my work life boundaries in order to be a good social worker 🥺🥹❤️
To become a gud Professional Social worker we should not Judge any clients by Religion Looks Status Clients are Gods in Social Media professional Social work are send by God to us in India legislation MLA MPS Not support for Social workers or NGOs They keep on eye on NGOs we should cuddle them whole Heartedly and usa UK clients are very kind and good
I understand how isolating it is...I am in an online program. I am a senior and noone in my family nor any of my friends are social workers. So I don't have any one to connect to. And noone understands what and why I am doing what I am doing. I am excited though Ill be finished in April. I am in an accelerated program so I am coming up on my last term before I start my internship. Getting this degree means so much to me, it's been 18 years since I graduated from highschool and I have 3 children and I am a single mother. It hasn't been easy working and doing this I have found myself getting burned out lately, but I'm pushing through to the end. I plan to take this degree as far as I can. I am in the school system now, but i spent 10 years in the medical field and I still have a passion for the medical field. Im excited to see where getting this degree will take me.
Just pulled out of my async MSW program to pursue an in-person one next year! I really look forward to getting to know likeminded people so we can push each other to be better... in real time. Thank you for your time and your channel!
You are an inspiration girl..I just graduated, i have completed my fieldwork placement and i truly do not know how to start working. The requirements are crazy and i feel unmotivated oof! All the best wishes for you
ahh I'm so glad you're here!! there's content from my BSW days, MSW days, and post grad days so you will definitely be able to find a lot :) good luck as you start your program!
I am seriously considering going to school for a social work degree. I mainly want to work with lgbtq youth so I'll have to do some more research on what that journey would look like.
I’m finding your channel really helpful as I work my way through an online BSW. I was already feeling a lack of community because of not being on campus and recently I suffered a major death in my life and I’m struggling to keep working at this degree. I’m finding trying to immerse myself in social work “stuff” is helping to get my brain back in that zone again. Do you happen to have any other channel recommendations for me? Thanks so much for making these videos!
Anna thank you for uploading this. It was very encouraging and you spoke something in particular that gave me confirmation about the financial part of the social work field! ❤
Currently binging your videos as I'm torn between my current major and social work. I'm wanting to educate myself some more on social work so I can make a more informed decision about what I want to do
Look into the public service loan forgiveness program. After 10 years of paying back your loans while working in specific places you can then apply for the rest to be forgiven. I'm planning on using this option.
Hey Anna! Just a thought...NASW membership is another way to cultivate connections with other social workers. I've found the forums to be especially helpful to discuss issues or concerns with others who hold our same values and code of ethics.
I appreciate this so much. I am currently in a Master's Program for Clinical Mental Health and I just do not feel like it is for me. I am currently in the process of switching programs and going to a completely different school.
My friends and family encouraged me to work in the field when I finished my undergrad before I went into grad school. I did and hated it and switched career fields.
Anna Bea, I found your channel when you were starting your journey in the social work program. This was back when I was researching and narrowing down what I wanted to return to school for. I had taken time off of school to have children and raise them with the goal of returning to school when my children were school-age. This August, after an 8-year hiatus, I enrolled and completed my first semester back in college. I am finishing up some pre-requisite courses before I can apply to the BSW program. I just completed the Intro to Social Work course, and the MSA was to write the personal statement that will go towards applying to the program. Hopefully, I will start the program in the fall of 2024. My goal is to first work in the school system and then work towards working as a mental health therapist. I am so nervous to start this journey, and, for some reason, feel like this program is going to be critically hard and strict. I am determined to finish and motivated. I want to say thank you for your videos because they have helped confirm what I want to do. I went to UA-cam to search "What are social workers and what do they do?" Your video came up. I appreciate your channel so much!
Hi Jade!! Thank you for sharing your story and progress so far. Congrats on re-starting your degree!! The jump back into school can be the hardest one to make but you DID that :) I'm excited to see how all your goals will come to fruition and feel so lucky that I've gotten to play even a small role in them coming true 💗 Thanks for spending minutes with me through my videos. Cheering for you!
New subscriber ❤ i have my bsw but unfortunately lots of jobs im interested in working at required MSW.. im applying to it after 8yrs since my bsw so i know it will be really hard to get into program however im not giving up..i will give it a try and well see what happens... thanks for going over all experiences u go day to day and stuff that will help u overcome sw obstacles that we face in the field..
Hey Anna I'm really looking for a career change as I'm not happy with the job I'm doing. I'm looking for a job that allows me to help people and also a job that can make an impact on this world. Something I can look back on when I'm older and be satisfied with my career life. Do you think becoming a social worker would be the right road to take for myself ?
@Canadian Whereas it's good that you want to help people, this is not a good enough reason to go in to the social work career. It's a thankless, mentally and emotionally exhausting career, however there are people that are passionate about it and have made it work for them. I advise that you also watch the "why I quit social work" videos just to get a balanced outlook on this profession then if you still feel deeply passionate about it, go for it!
Hi there 😊 I'm one semester away from entering UNLV for my bachelors and would eventually graduate in 3 years Im taking notes from your video and love evetything you said If you or anyone else have tips, or any advice in social work. Please say so, i really appreciate any feedback 😊😊
@AnnaBea thank you 😂 just realizes it's been 8 months since this comment. I came back to this video now I'm 3 weeks in SW 101 ans I feel excited but also really nervous 😅. But I'm glad I watched this video again and hopefully many times in the future I got a good professor, supporting family n friends. I think I would be a good social worker. At this route I would graduate in winter 2026 😊
As a school social worker, I enjoyed watching this video. These are things that I also wish I knew. If I had one dollar for every person that asked me what I do in my job, I'd be rich lol.
Hey Anna thank you for your video! I enjoy hearing speak about, I feel like you’re giving me a sense of hope and excitement to get into the field (if I end up settling my mind), while giving a balanced perspective. Have you encountered anyone in your field with a dual Social Work JD degree? Just curious to know how it can be applied!
to be honest, I have a friend who is in the process of getting one but has not yet graduated and entered the field! looking into work that forensic social workers do may help you get some more information (death row mitigation, participating in family court, etc)
Thank u for what you do ❤ I say I’m a cpa but it’s such a broad range no one understands lol i work in tax in a company and it’s more confusion lol I totally get it though because if I wasn’t in this field I wouldn’t understand either. Ppl also would keep telling me my job was so boring when it’s the furthest thing from boring. There are so many negative opinions out there!

you can get a MSW with any bachelors background!
Anna , im stay in jakarta pls tutor me to be social worker in jakarta
❤
Thank you for this video. I was having doubt in pursuing my MSW.
when a social worker tells you a forensic psychologist is gonna be nice he/sbe's not gonna be nice !
if you cant explain your job, most likely you are bad at it
This doesn’t not mean that . Sometimes it’s hard to break things down to people that have no general idea of the major.
It's not that it can't be explained it's just that it gets old re explaining it to people that are usually looking for a quick answer.
Anna what is your email?
as a senior in their bsw program🥲this video helped a lot
