- A khutbah by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan given at Colleyville Masjid on October 16, 2015.
Explaining one of the most misunderstood verses of the Quran from Surat An-
Nisaa, verse 26, which deals with the relationship between husbands and wives,
Nouman Ali Khan says that the verse actually places men in a huge position of
responsibility, not authority, over women. Men must be repeatedly fair to
women who will reap the benefits of this care, provided they reciprocate by
guarding the relationship and showing respect for their husbands lest they
compromise their very relationship with Allah.

This khutbah made me cry. Allah is most merciful and if only we as Muslims actually lived up to these words, then the world would be such a better place. It's comforting to hear, shukran from the bottom of my heart Ustadh for this khutbah. I needed to hear this and I think a lot of other muslimahs needed it too.

She could. She can still respect her by praying for him. She can still respect him by treating him nicely and wishing guidance for him in her prayers.

"Quwam" seems to be equivalent to an "established supporter". There is such beauty to Arabic that cannot be found in many other languages.

Yeah, I thought that was strange. I don’t know why he translated qawwam a certain way here then turned around and translated it completely differently in this other video.
This khutbah was like a message to me.. I was literally hurt by my ex and when i fell into my trial period at the first opportunity he got he divorced me. But Alhamdulillah a door opened and i am better than i was with him. Thank you so much for this message and i hope both men and women stand together for one during the most difficult moments

. My husband of 22 yrs threw my bags out on the streets in the beginning of coronavirus. No money he took my phone and sent me divorce through email 2 days later and copied it to my children
I spent 5 weeks sleeping rough and had to go court to get back in my home with my sons
He is 13 years older than me.
I thought we were happy but this year was rough and I think there's another woman or women
God got brought me back home but I have to live with him and because I won he taking me back to court.
Not only is he is trying to ruin my life in courts even issued police charges even though he used to harm me. I took it and always covered him. I never wanted divorce we had come so far in life.
I cared for him. But now I see a cold human
Pls please pray for me and I overcome each battle he throws my way 💔
May Allah swt protect you , your such a strong women and keeping soo strong for your children. May Allah swt give you Shifah and shower you with soo much Sabr and blessings ameen. WaAllah iam so grateful that I'm a Musilmah Alhamdulilah I was divorced twice first one was a beater raised my two boys on 130 for each kid for 15 yrs got remarried at 27 divorced 2 yrs ago he only gives me 200 a month for each kid he was caught with prostitution Alhamdulilah I married him raised three girls for 7 yrs taught them to pray fast My parents died at seven I dreamt telling him FahAmal Yeatemah Falah Takhar I'm 37 yrs now everyone telling me get married you did nothing wrong your still young the first thing this religious men who the Mask told me was you have to work I told him I have been father and Mother since I was 18 I'm tired I want to stay home pray learn how to read quran and feel like women he called me a gold digger I laughed and said read surah Nisah

As a practical Muslim and married for almost 8 years I have never come across such amazing and fitting explanations of marriage I don't have words
this topic bothered me for a long time

but ma sha Allah nouman ali khan never fails to amaze me
İts normal when you have a different criterion then Quran it can seem wrong to you. But I found put the hard way and always go with Quran and sunnah over what is expected nowadays provides perfect balance in your life marriage and Journey through life. Being able to shed tears> anything my nefs once that keeps ne away from it.

Because when I think of marriage I think of it as two people deciding to team and to be LIFE PARTNERS. Like can a husband quarantine his wife ? Prevent her from having a career ? From having social life and benefiting to the world and to the ummah? Because if yes it’s just killing a woman’s soul, it’s a kind of live burial, especially for women whose nature are toward working and ambitious. SubhanAllah, so amazing. I always see posts saying women seek appreciation from men, but that did not sit right with me, I didn’t agree. A woman (just like a man) should not seek appreciation from outside themselves - they should know they are valued because Allah swt created them, and their abilities, qualities. That should make them be grateful to Allah swt always for their creation. I came to realise women seek support more than anything and subhanAlllah this description of a man being qawwum (constant supporter) is so true and beautiful! Allahu Akbar
