The reason Crosby "Dies" in Black Ops 1 is because games AI's who don't move up with the story will collapse and cease functioning to lighten the load of the game. The game assumes you have moved up with the action and feels safe to just drop some NPCs in the back. It's most likely Crosby does not "die" but rather is assumed to move on to a different part of the mission.
It's weird how IA worked in this cod and in older games like medal of honor the NPCs would stay behind protecting a secured area or they would take a different path outside the map boundaries
Crosby is an actual chad. Goes through all that shit in BOII, doesn't complain, does his job, doesn't betray you, doesn't force you to save him, gets shot and STILL FLIES without complaint.
@@IHaveBeenDoingTaxFraud Bro by that, he should've been a protagonist really. He had all the qualities of a Badass protag. Silent, Quite and will do the job
Crosby had such a cool voice in Black Ops 2. It's a shame he was injured a little over halfway through the campaign. Section can basically lose his entire team on One mission, Odysseus. @@leosburner1199 No, he's just called "Merc" by the subtitles. But he isn't randomly generated, it's always the "Assault" model, and they gave him a unique voice actor that doesn't have lines for generic AI enemies. Pretty sure the idea was that both sides would have a soldier who uses the model of the generic "Assault" unit for their faction but is still their own character as a fill-in if another important character was killed, and that this was cut after the lines were recorded and Crosby had been named, but before anything else was developed. (It is worth noting that Crosby does _technically_ have a different model from the generic USMC Assault troop, but it's barely noticeable.)
