Many of you are asking about a discount code for midland radios... we have one! You have to use our link found here bit.ly/2IjmlZD And coupon code dirtlifestyle gets you 15% off 🤘
its off topic but do you have a vid on your air intake I'm looking at doing a 2ed battery and in wanting to put it in the place where the airbox is so i need to relocate the air intake
Had a yellow top for my JL and long story short it tested fine but it was faulty. I exchanged it to a cheapo orielly battery and my electric problem with the stop start system went away entirely. Never again. Did optima send you one because you’re you or did you buy it with your own money?
Great work. And I personally sincerely appreciate your whiteboard work! For me the challenging part is always how to run the wires cleanly through the trim front to back or from the edge trim to the Midland, for instance. Just leave it under the carpet? What if I remove the carpet. And how did you clean up all that red wire from the A pillar to the BD lights?
@@DirtLifestyle I prefer your build shows to your adventures. You have fantastic solutions that I don't see ANYONE ELSE trying. Not sure how you don't have a lot of copycats.
I really appreciate how much this guy knows but still admits the subjects he’s not an expert on. Being humble makes someone a lot easier to listen to. Thanks for all the effort that was put into this video man.
please don't apologize for using the whiteboard!! It's helped me understand what you're talking about in other videos, and this one especially. Thank you for all the effort you went through to make this! Oh, and as a fellow Disco2 owner I appreciate this video even more! :-D
I like the whiteboard too, but would like to see a Visio or like diagram program once you get the resources. I realize you are growing. Just getting it to a white board and getting the info out is nice. Thanks!
NATE, I personally prefer the BUILD videos over the ADVENTURE videos... JUST ME... The BUILD videos were what drew me to your channel and what keeps me coming back.
Being used to building a lot of things from scratch and fabricating I think the fab and build videos are better. I think people that watch your content for the info on not just the what but how you put things together and the reason why. These videos are most beneficial to those of us that are seriously looking at doing something similar
Man this could legit be an old Spike TV Powerblock show but even better. The whiteboard sketches are amazing and extremely helpful! Bring the Disco to the Ozarks for a wheeling overland trip🤘🏻
I like these videos as well. Too many people skip over these small details and "tutorials". The way you explain things is very thorough and easy to follow. Thank you for all your hard work in your videos!
I don’t off-road. I just Love cars and trucks. I think you are a great communicator and builder. I’ve been watching UA-cam builds for a few years and your teaching is very clear. Thank you for your content.
21 year honda master tec here- A++ Information and work quality- great job- I wired my rig the same way! i was looking for a link for more wire and came across this- Bookmarked to send to people who constantly ask for this information-
Nate: "Use relays, isolators, and science to determine your needs. Me: Staring at my electrical project. "I'll just run 00AWG and 10AWG to everything. " Project: Lights on fire.
Tip about fridge with cigarette lighter plugs... bumpy roads can cause it to come unplugged and spoil your food if you dont notice until the end of your day..
You have no idea how much this satisfies my inner eletrical wiring geek in me LOL. I was an avionics technician in the Marines for nearly 10 years, so seeing someone who takes the time to wire systems properly gives me the fizz.
Man you're so wrong. I can't speak for anyone else. But these videos are my absolute favorite. The pure talent of fabrication and videography. Your videos are so wholesome and professional. The amount of time it takes to make these videos the way you do, between speaking clearly and concisely all the way to knowing where to put the camera and great editing. don't think it doesn't go noticed, to at least me.
Don't apologise for whiteboard use The people that are here to learn Are taking notes an screen shots Screw the rest of um You do good clean work keep it up brother
Thanks for taking us on the short bus to school on this. My head is spinning but I know I can go back and watch it as many times as it takes. Great information. Thank you.

Not gonna lie I’ve been watching your diy vids for two days now, I wouldn’t say I’m inexperienced in wiring and welding and such but man you’ve been giving tips and tricks that I’ve never heard anyone mention before, thanks dude. With every video I’m getting more and more inspired to start fabricating parts for my bronco and adding lights like I’ve always wanted 🤙
My son and I here on the UK both have Land Rovers, and Discovery 2, we're both avid followers of your channel. From your tech and fabrication videos to your off-road ventures, a brilliant channel.
Your heavy fabrication and building videos are what I'm here for! I like the adventure videos too, but the build videos are my favorite. I think the community for the fabrication stuff is just much smaller than the overall off road community. Keep it up, I love it as do many others! Also your channel has grown like crazy over the last year.
“There’s a relay to a relay” yep that’s pretty common for electronics. You did that exactly right. It’s because their relay will burn up, but they might not have enough power to drive a larger relay directly, so stepping it up in multiple steps is how you solve that problem
Nate, you did a great job explaining all of the details of how to design a wiring system for your rig, and in a way that even a beginner can take away a lot of information from this video. Well done!
All the content you create is high quality, but I personally look forward to the shop videos more than any of the trail/adventure videos. Thanks for putting out all the effort on the content and making things easy to understand.
Please keep on building!!! I am a mechanic for over 15 years.... started with land rovers and Dakar trucks in France! It is very inspirational to see these build video's! Living in Canada now.... and finaly got a few off road rigs again! A LR Defender 110 and an old Tacoma Let there be dirt! Thanks for all the content!
Thank you for this vid, I've always been so confused about electricity but you explained the dual battery concept so well that I finally understood it after years of my brother trying to explain it to me 😂
The best I have ever heard this explained. I know nothing about cars and was able to install a switch pro on my 4runner with a circuit breaker and it all makes sense.
I really appreciate your build video's. Having spent many years in the low voltage install field the only thing that I would have done differently on your build is run a dedicated ground from your auxiliary battery to a separate grounding block at the back of the truck next to your fuse block. That would help eliminate the possibility of ground loops. Other than that, Good Job!
Great walkthrough of the entire process and putting thought into the design. These are things that a lot of people don't think about until the installations and the wiring has become too messy to fix. Thanks for putting this together
I did a Lighted roof rack once on my 97 ZJ. Instead of tucking wires I used a boat trailer connection threw the center of the rear roof waterproofing it with silicone. Anytime I wanted to remove the rack, I could and just disconnect the trailer plug. Plug outlet had a sprung loaded waterproof cap no leaks and worked grate. All wires were snaked through the tube structure of the rack to the individual lights.
Been following you for over a year. Finally ready to install a second battery, lights, etc. and came back to watch this video again. Thanks for taking the time to detail everything so us diy'ers can make these mods ourselves. Much respect!
Crazy amount of info, Nate! Love it. Personally, I love watching a great craftsman build fun stuff. Love the adventure videos too, but this is just down right rad to see the care and thought that goes into each system in your builds.
I love your offroad videos but I prefer your build videos. You are a master of your craft my friend. All your rigs are incredible and anyone could easily see how much time and effort you put into them. I am nowhere near your level but I like to think I have learned a lot from you. And you are still my favorite page on UA-cam! Keep up the good work

I specified electrical components from Blue Sea Systems and Ancor wire & connectors. Marine grade stuff you might want to check out. Overkill for sure, however overkill very rarely ever fails. We also isolated start battery with a Blue Sea ACR and connected all accessories to the House Batt. We also used Blue-top Optima’s. Thank you for all the great work!
