Thank you! I think you nailed it in you use of the "honest". That is definitely responsible for alot of it's charm! This wouldn't be near as cool if it was a full restoration
@@DirtLifestyle Had quite a few Land Rovers over nearly 50 years ranging from V8 Range Rovers to Series 3 88" diesels, I think 65mph in your Land Rover is fast enough, a friend put in a 2.8 litre version of the Land Rover petrol into his stock 1980 88", got it to 100mph and it was quite scary and VERY noisy.
Dude, this is SOOOO cool!!! To cover your cargo, a simple roll bar hoop and canvas top would be great. I love the honesty of this truck. No BS, no fluff. Just grunt and work. Rock on man!!!!!
Every time i watch your videos it makes me want to get back in the shop and make my rigs better to catch up to what you're doing! The Land Rover is awesome man, great video!
This thing is so cool. These things have a way of looking at home going across the African plains or going to the opera. Just amazing how quickly this thing got built up. So excited to see where you take it.
By far my favorite rig from the build challenge. Your attention to detail in how things should look and more importantly how things should perform is top notch. The Landrover and the S10 that Colt built are the best builds from this series.
This thing is sweet! Something about it makes me think back to being on a ranch with my dad hunting and driving an old jeep with no top and a similar windshield just bouncing all over the place and having an absolute blast!
Charoloue Gap is one of our favorite tails down here. We have tons more trails like that all over southern Arizona. So glad you got to enjoy it. LR is awesome, can’t wait to see it in the snow!
I have to admit as a land rover fan I had reservations on this build,[ Toyota axles, coil instead of spring etc]. But I absolutely love it. Looking forward to seeing it in the snow!
Thanks! We are playing around with a few ideas for a basic cage. It will depend on what I decided to do with this. For snow wheeling and car shows I'm not thinking a cage is necessary. But If I decide to hit the rubicon or something then a cage is a must... I have plenty of capable rock crawlers on hand 😁
@@DirtLifestyle I had an ex-mod 109 w/ the original twin tube roll bar, which though tub rail mounted and lacking any triangulation/bracing, might still be inspiration for some "correct" appearing mild roll protection. Love the 88", err 87"😅
I love this rig, my son, and have been fans of your channel, and you have become an influence on us. I recently bought a two door tahoe that i want to build for him for when he comes home from the military so we can get out and some wheeling and overlanding.
Looks so good. I was disappointed when you halted the Jeep build in favour of this. But the way it came out - such a win. Love the stubby toy-car look of it.
Amazing, owned a 1989, 110 with a galvanized chasis....loved that thing. Your build, as always, is so unique. Watching the process is just always incredible and inspires a lot of folks!
I just bought exactly that, mine is Australian built military defender, called a perentie. Mine is long wheel based, sooooo much fun. Mine is now a 9 seater, kids love it
I think it’s cool that you made the decision to just build something you wanted, knowing that it wasn’t going to win the build challenge, but props that you were able to make it there, have fun and contribute. It’s a niche vibe and we can tell it makes you happy. That makes for good content. Nice work, man!
I love it when a cool vehicle finds the right owner to build it to become an understated thing of beauty. Nate, you've brought out its stout, utilitarian characteristics and then crowned it with the ute cab. BRAVO 🫡
I love this thing, such a cool build. I love that its not just a stupid capable tube frame buggy, but just an honest fun trail rig. Short wheel base stuff is always fun.
Very cool. I'm glad you're happy with it. I HOPE YOU WIN THE CHALLENGE! Personally i'd be a little concerned with not having a roll cage though. No? I'd hate to see you get hurt brother! Be safe.....you're killing it!
Being a South African where these Landy's are a frequent sight, I can assure you man...... Your Landy is way above awesome. I myself am a Landy-lover and all I can say is.....GREAT JOB☝🏻👍🏻🫵🏻🇿🇦
I think this is so cool. I have always wanted a defender of this area but without the gremlins they are famous for. I think you're right on the money going this direction. Keep up the good work . Way cool. P.S. finish the J10 Cummins tow truck.sweet!!!
Love it ! Goes every where , Looks awesome and Its every day useable. Cant wait to see more videos . Love the info and making newer parts fit just like they belong there. Great way to keep air storage.
30 yrs ago, I had 2 Subaru brats. Not the same height, but the comments you have about the size and weight, ring true. I loved them for their nimbleness and loved watching your build/ride videos! Thanks
Well thanks a lot Nate. Because of you, my wife has me scouring the interwebs for a Land Rover to build. Why? Why do you hate me? LOL! Super nice rig brother.
Hey Buddy another thing you can do to fix the “highway squirrels “ is to take some of the caster out of the axle. Shim the axle or cut and reweld the steering knuckles….i know you know this. Just a friendly reminder!!! Rover/Toyota hybrid is sooooo cool man!
This is so cool and original. I love it. Definitely needs a roll bar or cage and lower gears. I kept cringing watching you bounce over rocks without a roll bar.
Love it. As a fellow owner of a Land Rover Discovery series 2 I’m constantly watching and rewatching all your Land Rover videos and as a Land Rover enthusiast I love the new snow ride. The older series LR’s are so sweet. Keep the videos coming.
So cool to se someone that finally wheels with Mud Grapplers. I love mine! they actually hook up everywhere. Not just for mall crawlers! Thanks for another great video Nate.
This thing is great. Love how you kept it classic with the rover engine and added rover power steering. Interesting choice with the truck cab top, seems like that wouldn’t be the first choice for snow wheeling, but it’s great everything is so modular. Can’t wait to see a lot more of this rig on your channel. Keep up the great content!
Love it! I have wanted one of these since I used to work at a Land Rover dealer back in the early 90's - it is finally the right time to start looking for one that isn't a complete rust pile😁
This thing kicks ass Nate! It was cool the day you pulled it out of its resting place, but man, it got so much cooler in such a short amount of time! Looking forward to more!
The fj80 was a fun build to watch, the disco ii made me want to get one, but this build I feel like I was enthralled with the entire series and found myself searching for the next video constantly. This just had that extra uniqueness.
The narrow, short wheelbase brings me back to my days of banging around in my CJ-5. The Landrovers were the main competition for the Jeep, back in the day! I like the truck cab as it makes it cold weather useable plus it has a cool look.
I absolutely love it. I think it is one of the coolest builds I’ve ever seen, especially as a dedicated snow wheeler, which it will be absolutely perfect for. 10/10 👌🏼
That thing is tight. No fake patina of shiny paint. Just a cool, honest little rig
Thank you! I think you nailed it in you use of the "honest". That is definitely responsible for alot of it's charm! This wouldn't be near as cool if it was a full restoration
Right on!

So glad to finally see this thing wheel! Such a cute unique truck. The timeline for this project was crazy. Enjoy some break Nate! Well deserved!
Thanks man! This week has been all editing and R&R. So nice to catch my breath.
Tinkerer! Where's that Tundra??
Yo!
For real where da tundra bring the thundra
More videos on this truck PLEASE!!! It's got a personality and a vibe that few other trucks can match. Awesome content, keep it coming!
Yes!!!!
That rig is killer! I can't wait for the snow content!
Thanks! Me too!!!
That may be my favorite build yet. It’s just so cool.
Thank you!
Absolutely love it, probably my favorite in your fleet!
It’s super cool. Don’t over build it. Just drive it. Looking forward to the Icelandic tires
Dude, this is SOOOO cool!!!
To cover your cargo, a simple roll bar hoop and canvas top would be great.
I love the honesty of this truck. No BS, no fluff. Just grunt and work.
Rock on man!!!!!
So excited to see this in action this winter!
Dude me too! It's going to look great in the snow!
Every time i watch your videos it makes me want to get back in the shop and make my rigs better to catch up to what you're doing! The Land Rover is awesome man, great video!
Thank you 🙌 now get back out there! 😁
Thank you 🙌 now get back out there! 😁
That thing is hilarious looking, in a good way. Like a cartoon drawing of a truck with those tires.
Super cool, especially for a “last second” rig.
More builds like this! Can I get an Amen?
Amen 😁
Truck cab looks awesome!
My uncle had a longer version of yours. I always wanted it. Great build sir. Can't wait to see it finished.
I love it, and my wife does also, she couldnt stop commenting how cool it was as we watched together
This thing is so cool. These things have a way of looking at home going across the African plains or going to the opera. Just amazing how quickly this thing got built up. So excited to see where you take it.
Love it with the cab on it. Definitely ready to see it in it's element.
I love what you do and this little monster is great. cant wait to see it buried in the snow.
The Rover looks great and on such a short time line. Well done! Can’t wait to see how it does in the snow this winter.

Sooo cool, such a clean look. You can’t beat the looks of an old school rover
Charoloue Gap is one of our favorite tails down here. We have tons more trails like that all over southern Arizona. So glad you got to enjoy it. LR is awesome, can’t wait to see it in the snow!
Love it brah!! I love the older land rovers! Super stocked to see what you do with it! And I’m glad you tried to leave it alone for the most part!
I love that little rig! Who cares if you didn’t win the challenge, you had fun and that’s all that really counts!
I have to admit as a land rover fan I had reservations on this build,[ Toyota axles, coil instead of spring etc]. But I absolutely love it. Looking forward to seeing it in the snow!
I’m a bit of a purist and to me this is no longer a Land Rover 😂🇬🇧 but each to there own 😊have a great day
This is my favorite build on the tube! Great job!
This is the best 1st gen Bronco build that isn't a 1st gen Bronco. I LOVE this rig and the direction you've taken with it. More please.
Nailed it! Awesome rig. A cage would ruin the look. Maybe a hoop?
Thanks! We are playing around with a few ideas for a basic cage. It will depend on what I decided to do with this. For snow wheeling and car shows I'm not thinking a cage is necessary. @@DirtLifestyle Maybe a Hoop in the bed in the shape of an old school Sports bar would look nice and give you rollover protection.
@@DirtLifestyle It reminds me of the show Rat Patrol. You might be too young to remember. Lol

What winch rope and fairlead combo is that on the rear winch setup???

The rig turned out sweet! Now time to finish Dirt Reynolds!
Absolutely 👊👊👊
I love the look of this little guy with those huge tires on it. Looks like the toy trucks all us boys had as kids.
Too bad about the gearing in the desert! The convertible Landrover is cool but the truck cab is sick! Excited to watch the Land Rover in the powder!
This thing is cool. Thrilled to see you were able to get a top for it. Looking forward to seeing what it can do in the snow.
Awesome rig Nate , i cant wait for the snow wheeling videos. My wife is like losing it waiting on snow ( in PA) thats her favorite also snow wheeling.
I'm watching the weather like a hawk... I can't wait ❄️
I love this thing, such a cool build. I love that its not just a stupid capable tube frame buggy, but just an honest fun trail rig. Short wheel base stuff is always fun.
Charalou gap is so much fun. That unsurvivable obstacle looks crazy as hell, when you first pull up to it 😂
this thing is such an inspiration for my series build😄
Glad to hear it!
Love it! I was hoping for an episode on Sunday, this made my mind-shift break so much better!
I was hoping for a Sunday episode too! But I was still driving home and had to edit everything. 🤘 It feels good to be back home making content
Absolutely love, came out better than I could have imagined. Man that thing is sweet. Such a classic ride with amazing look and style. Well done Nate

Cool rig.
Hope you enjoyed Az.
Love it ! Goes every where , Looks awesome and Its every day useable. Cant wait to see more videos . Love the info and making newer parts fit just like they belong there. Great way to keep air storage.
Landi looks really great.. Nice job. You know what will be cool. Build extension for roof rack for tent and below you can still use bed for stuff🙂
I said it once and I'll say it again. That thing is a beast and I love that it looks stock-ish just with giant tires
30 yrs ago, I had 2 Subaru brats. Not the same height, but the comments you have about the size and weight, ring true. I loved them for their nimbleness and loved watching your build/ride videos! Thanks
Super fun! Well done. Can't wait to see the snow stuff!

You killed it on this rig! Looks like it would be super fun to bomb around!! Can’t wait to see what you do on it next!
This thing is so cool. I grew up with my dad owning Landrovers and man, I would love something like this now.
Can’t wait to see this little beast have some fun in the snow!!!Whoop!!!
So cool, so much fun ahead. You did the old rig justice.

The kind of craftsmanship we’ve come to expect from nate!

What a COOL build, very nice love the look of her. Ready to see what you do with the trans in her. Very good job Nate.

Looks like it wheels good and it is a cool looking ride. Well done Nate. Looking forward to watching it hit the trails.
I love it. It looks like you should be in a land rover commercial vintage then new. An oldie but goodie.
Best build I've seen on any xhannel in a while. The COG must be around center to bottom of the wheel wells.
Marlin makes a 4:1 tcase gear set
And maybe just work iut using a marlin double t case transmission and make it the tractor that it should be.
I can’t wait to see this thing in the snow. It is such a cool rig it is so unique.

After a long shift slinging boxes for big brown, this video made me smile...nice build
I loved it with top top off. But with the cab! God it looks awesome! I've always loved older land rovers! Such a cool build

Don’t screw it up, lower ratios in low but this is the simple pleasure of the thing. It’s a different way to 4wd. And it works. I love it.
I remember seeing it on marketplace. I love what you have done with it.😊
I absolutely love how it turned out.
Absolutely loving that rig! I missed out on one of those years ago and never stopped looking for one. I need to get one and build it up!
Since I’m from Iceland I’m looking forward to you putting the Arctic Trucks 38” snow tires on ❤
I am all about this thing. Would love a video series on future mods. Lower TC gearing, a cage etc would be sweet.
Nice little Land Rover - so much better than modern Land Rovers
Genuine idea and another genius rig, man you always think outside of the box.
