I wasn't sure how to release the fuel lines and everything's so fragile. It worked like a charm thanks for your well explained video. To remove the top without a special tool I wrapped an old drive belt around it and clamped it tight with a vice grips. It gave enough leverage to unscrew it without breaking anything
Hi New filter and o ring fitted with no leaks. My method was as follows. first hand tighten filter nut. Then mark housing, top and nut for reference. Now remove nut and smear inside of nut and outside of lid where they will connect with a little petroleum jelly, only a smear. Now tighten until all lines are aligned then with the filter protected from a hard floor ( i used a bit of carpet) I then held it down and tapped around on one of the ridges on the plastic nut with a small cold chisel until the line on the nut had passed the other markings by about 1.5 inches. Seems to have worked
Cheaper way, buy the Filter Housing tool. Remove the Housing, mark position on cap and housing to line up after replacing filter. Place housing in the Tool and unscrew the cap using Stilson of oil filter removal chain. Change filter then refit cap, line up the marks you made on Cap & Housing.
@@theangrygingerthebananavan4207 I had one that leaked from fuel temperature sensor connector(located at top of the lid and can't be replaced on its own)
It's people that over tighten the body trying to remove the ring making it oval , vauxhall fitted a very similar filter housing that similar it's the same paper filter, never heard of much problem with that filter housing
When removing filter from housing after the housing has been previously over tightened the o ring becomes oval and will not seal. I have ordered a new filter (not housing) that comes with new o ring so hoping this will stop leak
You're absolutely right there. My first filter housing leaked even after replacing seal. Second one leaked from fuel temperature sensor on the lid, that's why I had to replace it again 😞.
Hi there, followed the steps, but my van is now stalling after starting the engine. Do you have any advice? Really hope I don't need to take it to a garage!
Did you purge the air from the filter. You have to do it by running ignition on for 10 secs and than off and repeat few times as explained. By doing that electric fuel pump forces fuel through the system and pushes the air back to the fuel tank through return hose, you should not start engine during this process. Even if you have started engine after few stalls should be fine. Also did you checked all connections, it is not drawings air in through bad connection somewhere?
@@mrfxr1695 thanks for your reply. I repeated the first process a few times, still kept stalling. Checked connections everything looked fine, then primed one last time and decided to pump the accelerator a little whilst turning the engine on and it seems to of done the trick for now. Would that of helped force the air through the system? Cheers.
My husband has attempted to change this filter himself this time after watching your video. Like you his bottom clip sprung out and he has lost it! Would you know where we can get another. 🤣

Many thanks for positive comment . I'm glad the video helped.
The old drive belt trick is a good one 👍
That electric connection metal wire just need to push in a bit and you are able to disconnect it! (And you will not loose it)
Thanks, it is true, your right
I've tried that but it didn't want to come out so I opted to pull it out. Luckily I have found the clip
Excellent. I could not have done this without this video.
Many thanks 👍

Thanks, might be a few years ago, but just the info I needed 👍🏻

I like your way, it will clearly prevent overtightening 👍🙂

It is cheaper if it leaks only from lid and housings joint
@@mrfxr1695 agree. My friends leaked because it was over tightened.

Mine has a very slow leak and i cant see where from, is the sensor at the top a common place to leak?
Thanks.
Exactly what I needed to know with a concise description.
Thanks John,

Just what I needed! The grey clips 😉... Thanks Brother!

really helpful to know how to remove the pipe clips, thanks

Great that thanks, had 3 mechanics try to change the filter but looks like the housing is bust.

Thanks, great help and will save me a few bucks.

Tried replacing my fuel filter on Suzuki vitara very similar to this but it’s leaking fuel everywhere now
Leaking from hoses or filter housing?
Absolute hero
Thank you
Given the problems reported with this so often they should have been forced to issue a recall.
I agree, but manufacturers only recall faults that are endangering life unfortunately
Whats the part number of this complete filter housing please?
Here is the info 🙂

try online (ebay perhaps) or contact fiat dealer, being a small wire clip I can't imagine to be expensive
You are supposed to push the clip towards the connector, not break it away
The top fuel pipe will NOT disconnect, dammit!
Pay attention to light grey plastic clip. By releasing the clip it should come out
Thanks
