Just so folks know, a _lot_ of work went into optimizing a run to this level. All those times the TAS got perfect rng? That doesn't come for free; what rng manipulation means is trying a bunch of different timelines until one of them rolls the rng we want. This TAS is the product of a lot of careful planning and an enormous amount of dedication and persistence to actually work through all the tiny details and get exactly the right timelines. I love in the beginning watching you hit forward and a clink sound & animation just appearing behind you. I know the mechanics that go into it, but its just really funny to see the knight swinging the nail forward but hitting behind itself
@@74v13r I have question about Uumuu fight. It's possible fight Uumuu without WCS. But it seems impossible that carry Oomas's Core during Uumuu fight without WCS. Is this not break the Wcs proofs?
@@changhaofu6844 well, i can assure you that juggling ooma cores without wcs is definitely possible, its just a bit harder, so i used wcs. The tricky part is getting the ooma core to the fight itself. thankfully, the rules dont really have cases like this in mind and they only refer to the knight being able to move through the same space with and without wcs, but they dont talk about being able to carry emeies with you. Either way, im confident its possible to do the entire teacher archives segment without wcs, but itd require a lot of work
@@74v13r I can't find any “juggling Oomas's Core without wcs” that only has “Crystal Heart”, Even TAS only. If it switches to "Monarch Wings" or "Isma's Tear" that's would be OK. But when using Crystal Heart, I thought the only way to get in uumuu's room is “stand on the right floor and dash”. Also about the rules, I don't know if it allowed "a wcs only skip if is not a access skip".
@@changhaofu6844 you prob need to use another ooma to get across, make sure to explode it mid way through the acid to give you enough distance. Thats the only way to skip using cdash and prob the only way to get to uumuu while juggling a core without wcs. I dont think anyone has done it though, its more of a theoretical proof.
I really love TAS, they're my favorite speedrunner, my only pet peeve is runs that pause timer for loading screen and most especially main menu fast traveling, it just feels not genuine to me.
At first, I didn’t think much of the watcher knight fight, but the way you manip’d the 5th knight to bounce itself directly onto the 4th one was absolutely gorgeous. And of course, I will once again mention funny THK. I think the small detail that surprised me the most was healing after Queen’s Gardens arena for a respawn abuse on the lever right after. Absolutely incredible run all the way around

@@notEphim thanks, cdash is necessary as wcs isnt allowed for sequence breaking, you need to be able to get through somewhere without wcs to be able to use it according to the No Major Glitches ruleset, which is the one I followed. If that rule didnt exist, youd definitely skip cdash

We watched this on my stream and we all loved it - my favorite part was the skipped fall in kings pass with the nail knockback - I had never seen a TAS do that before!! That and the C-dashless acid skips were incredible with the use of WCS. Super well done:D

its just nmg rules. I need to be able to go through those places without wcs with current equipment to make wcsing through a section legal. That rule is there to make wcs not be able to sequence break essentially.
That was awesome!! I love the route you took through the lasers and just above the crystal spikes to get Crystal Heart. Uumuu! And I don't think I've ever seen THK lose so badly to a furious Knight with only a simple nail.
@@NinjaIOAverage-Pro nmms is a bit out of my spoce of knowledge at the moment. I know the basics of it on lp. On 1028 my knowledge is even more limited. In general nmms feels like a less fun ruleset to tas. We'll see though, maybe in the future

first of all, old tas followed rta route bc it was believed to be the fastest at the time, it got cdash for the same reason as me, nmg rules dont allow for sequence breaking with wcs To answer the sacond question, the thing about the hp threshold is true, after reaching the threshold it will scream as soon as it exits its idle state in a specific way (happens when idle timer runs out). By turning around, we slow down the idle timer progressing as much as possible, and by making him evade out of his idle state when his idle timer is close to running out, we can reset it without letting him scream. (its a bit more complicated, but that the gist of it)

I wonder what the theoretically fastest time a TAS could achieve. If you cut out lantern and maybe crystal dash as you have wall cling storage I wonder what the fastest time could be. Im a hollow knight noob but I believe TAS could do darkrooms.
ye, depends on the glitches you allow, ag takes it to the extreme, nmms (No Main Menu Storage) any% tas is a bit less extreme but still pretty difficult to understand. But ye, if you skip cdash and therefore lantern itd be no problem for tas and youd get around 2mins of timesave or so

ye, turns out that it doesnt lose that much time during the run and getting to grewnpath without it became viable once the elder baldur trick was discovered
ye, some small movement mistakes, some notizable rng optimizations, a couple of better strats here and there and a relic reroute which i missed. Most notable things are getting well relic after claw and doing beast's den on 1hp. Pretty sure everything combined still isnt close enough to sub 25 for it to be realistic, but who knows. The thing is that the project takes a lot of time and you inevitably discover new things about previous segments as you go along, and fixing them is not easy.
