Is Vietnam Still Cheap? - How Much I Spent in 1 Day in The MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE - Ninh Binh Travel

  • Many people wonder how much it costs to travel in #Vietnam. Here's an example of how much a day in Ninh Binh, exploring Tam Coc, Hang Mua, and a Goat Dinner costs. By the way, if you want to try the goat blood, make sure you squeeze the limes in before hand. Follow me on IG @KyleLeDotNet #Vietnamesefood #NinhBinh #Vietkieu #travel #travelvlog #traveling

      I've been watching Vietnamese traveling vlogs for quite some time. 2 things that tourists are too shy or don't want to offend the host. 1) Don't spread your legs to paddle the boat at Ninh Binh like that. It is really bad form and insulting. 2) Vietnamese coffee is too strong. It can kill people, even for those looking healthy. It is like you get 5 shots in your cup of coffee. Tell them to lighten it up.

    I love how you invited the taxi driver to have lunch with you and bought snacks for the boat rower. (She is very sweet.) Chau is a nice addition to your videos. It's cute to hear her speaking English, with a German accent.

    I literally did the same activities as you, Kyle. Ninh Binh was definitely my favorite place to travel when I was in Vietnam in 2019. My average budget was $150 and I could've spent a lot less, but I was on vacation and wanted to splurge. Like what you said, I didn't feel guilty one bit spending that kind of money since the money goes the distance in Vietnam. Of the the money I spent each day, 30% of it was tips. I tipped generously because life out there is hard.

    I’ve traveled to Ninh Binh but after watching your video I plan to return and do it all again through new lenses. One advantage you have over me is speaking Vietnamese. You and Chau were able to have a much more intimate experience with the locals because you can converse with them in their first language. It motivates me to practice and perfect at least a few commonly send phrases for my next trip there. As always I so enjoy your videos. Thank you again for putting a personal and heartfelt spin on them.

    I love how your videos always gives a local and in depth perspective! I am going to Ninh Binh in a month and want to do the Tam Coc boat tours as well. I appreciate learning about how much it costs the locals to have that job, provide that service and most interesting of all- a local perspective! As a tourist it will make me appreciate the experience even more through knowing how I am helping to contribute to someone's lively hood. I don't like the way some UA-camrs portray workers as 'scammers/vultures' without it actually being a scam. You present people as human and treat them with humility and I really enjoy watching your videos. I really hope that you do get sponsored for a Kenya trip :)

    Hi mate, I like the fact that you put the price of things in this video and you talk to the locals about their everyday life. Most people just do tours but they don't understand their hard work and even complain all the time.
    I know it's not you to put prices, but it actually helps people to understand the local culture a bit better.

      Especially WESTERNERS foreigners, they would complain every single penny they pay to these boat tours. I've watched hundred videos of theirs, most of them keep their pennies so close to their chest, and complain about all the scams. Some even complain about the boat market selling food. Glad this guy is kind and has a heart of understanding other people's hardworking.

We are planning on going next year and trying to learn as much as Vietnamese as we can in the mean time . I'm enjoying your content, and see how much VN has changed (haven't been back since 2010). Things have gone up in price but for the most part still seem really cheap. Hoping to make a trip back in the near future. Keep doing what you do.

    Tip vs diarrhea due to unsafe food: 1 cup of warm boil water + 1/2 tsp salt + 2 tsp sugar. Stir well and sip until finish. It will compensate the loss of fluid and ease stomach upset.

    Amazing shots my dude!! "Felt like travelling to Skull island!" Is what I was in the midst of writing when I had a thought that there's absolutely no way it wasn't inspired by this location, it's just too similar! decided to do a quick wiki n lo & behold..
    "Filming took place in the northern portion of Vietnam, including Tràng An, Vân Long and Tam Cốc (Ninh Bình Province), Hạ Long Bay (Quảng Ninh Province), and the entrance of Tú Làn Caves System (Tân Hoá, Trung Hoá Village, Minh Hoá District Quảng Bình Province)" -wiki
    (Though you probably knew it already!)
    Anyways I like the switchup from the usual bgm complimenting the 'Fresh/Chill atmosphere' & the shot of Chau @ 8:50 deserves to be in a huge frame on a wall!

    Its pretty disgusting to see other travelers constantly trying to haggle with host knowing that they make bare bare minimum wage.

    I just returned from Vietnam and Ninh Binh. LOVED my trip, and YES everything is so much cheaper than in the US, Australia or Western Europe. But your particular adventure was slightly too expensive, though not bad for 2 people. As I was walking through the streets of Hanoi, there were dozens and dozens of tourist agencies/kiosks selling day trips and I happened to pick the "upgrade" version for $55. The cheapest was $40. This includes a private hotel pickup in Hanoi in a limousine bus (it's just a micro bus with leather seats and cool LED lights) that takes 2.5 hours each way, plus buffet lunch, all the day tours including 3 to 4 stops with the pagoda, the river boat rides, and the Hang Mua viewpoint hike, as well as drop off at the hotel. And I didn't need to buy anything else because it was all paid for (I left $3 tip for the boat ride as there were 4 of us each tipping). One thing to note -it rained heavily for half our trip. And the boat ride started with everyone getting a plastic rain coat and umbrellas - a memory of a lifetime.

      Hey, thanks for the comment. yes, it would be cheaper to do a tour, but we wanted to go at our own pace, have our own boat, choose what we want to eat, and its not just for our enjoyment, but also to make this video. It's a lot different, cheaper, perhaps more fun, when you don't have to worry about the content so much. Since I can speak the language, I won't use a tour unless I absolutely have to, even if it means paying more. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you so much for checking out my video.

    Watch what you eat in VN. The country does not have any regulations regarding the preservative chemicals in foods, which mostly cause cancer overtime. And VN food products have recently been rejected and banned from other countries. There are instances where bleach was used to mask the odor or early spoilage of foods. This source is directly from friends/relatives who live in VN.

    May I ask if you use a drone and was there any issue bring a drone to Việt Nam?

    • @kyleledotnet
      @kyleledotnet  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, the shots from above were all filmed with a drone. I've never had issues with bringing a drone into Vietnam but that doesnt mean that you won't have any issues.

      @@kyleledotnet Thanks. Appreciate the response and the video clip. Did you have to bribe the custom guy, or just bring in as travel accessories?

    • @kyleledotnet
      @kyleledotnet  2 роки тому

      Never had to bribe anyone. The only time they ever checked my drone was when they wanted to look at the battery and after seeing it, they let me go. This only happened one time in Vietnam through numerous international and domestic flights. I've never had an issue taking my below 250g drone through the airports as a carry on. However, I've had some issues with flying it at certain places, such as Con Dao Island.

    • @kyleledotnet

      They rarely stop. Only if you ask? I made it clear that I needed a spot to drone right after getting on the boat.

    Kyle, do you need a permit to fly drone in Vietnam?

    • @kyleledotnet
      @kyleledotnet  2 роки тому +1

      Not really, but I avoid crowded places, most cities... I like to take the drone to the outskirts of the city or in an area where there isn't too many people.

    Hi Kyle I was wondering how are you getting around Ninh binh? Do you have to rent a scooter? Or it’s easy to find taxi there? Because I will be solo travelling, and I couldn’t ride scooter LOL 😂

    • @kyleledotnet
      @kyleledotnet  2 роки тому

      In Ninh Bình, i mostly use taxis. Usually if I'm in a city that has a bunch of places that I want to visit, I might ask the hotel to call a taxi for me or I can just call them myself. I don't like to have the hotel book for me incase they take a cut or if I don't like the driver, because traveling and making videos requires a little bit more patience. And by the time I get to the first destination, I will usually have a sense of how the driver is- if he has a sense of humor, if he's patient and understanding that I am filming and producing content. If he's cool then I will ask him if he is willing to continue for the rest of the day. Most of them are and we can work out some fair. It's a lot easier for me since I speak the language. If you don't then I would stay at a decent hotel that can speak English and have them work out a deal on your behalf and make sure you know where you want to go. They might also have motorbike drivers who can take you around by scooter and that would be cheaper. Or if you have the energy and the time, rent a bicycle and bring a raincoat if it’s the rainy season.
