Time has stood still in some of these locations. Almost no change at all. You can almost hear Pee Wee threatening, "You better watch your mouth kid!" Thanks for posting this. I fell in love with this movie in the early 80's and still watch it from time to time.
I went to a 2nd run movie house to watch this when it came out. I was hooked for life. I've watched The Wanderers close to 100 times. Thanks for posting this video.
Love the Wanderers movie . watched it back when it was released and many times since. Haha I still love to quote the lines " leave the kid alone" , " don't fxxk with the Wongs" and many others. Great to see these places in modern day. Cheers from all Wanderers fans in England.
This one has a few good quotable lines haha. It is a genuine classic and one of a kind. A special mix of bold and humor. And I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the video.
It's always fascinating to see the locations of some of our favorite movies. The Wanderers definitely being one of the best. It could not have been easy finding these places. Thank you so much.
I allways ask to myself how someone can know where this corner or that shop was filmed 40 yrs ago, esp in a city like NY. Are there any "Maps" for Movie enthusiasts for to visit?
I just found this channel and to my very startled eyes, I see one of my Top 5 movies listed. I would have given anything to have been with you on this trip. I absolutely LOVE this movie!!! I'm an old man now, but when it was in the theater, I went 2-3 times to see it. Thank You so much for your interest and time in making this video my friend!!
Man that castle house where Despi lived. Is still amazing! Has to be five stories big? With a awesome balcony on the top three floors. I actually paused the movie last time I watched. Just to marvel at that house.
i wasnt freaked out at all. What i remember about this from being a kid in the 80s (born in 78) was i thought this was an actual old flick instead of being as new as it was. I also thought the Warriors was older than it was. In the eyes of a mid 80s kid their 70s style was really dated
this is amazing! to see myself 42 years later on the eve of Yankees RedSox 2021......we were filming classroom scene when Bucky Dent Homered in 78'............extras in the gym could be heard for blocj=ks! great job! Wanderers Forever!
Excellent video, sir! It was so eerie when you walked into that little courtyard @4:38 and I suddenly realized you were standing in that exact same spot where the first confrontation takes place between the Baldies and the Wanderers. So cool!
Glad you enjoyed it! That was creepy.. However, it is basically a carbon copy.. The actual one is just across but that's ok.. I'll get in there one day haha. Thanks a lot!
Bro , amazing video My dad showed me this movie in the mid 80’s when I was like 11 . Loved it then and still love it til this day . Now I watched this movie with my kids . So cool to see the locations and how much is still the same as it was over 40 yrs ago . Awesome job on this 👍🏾
Seen this movie a hundred times, so cool to see what the places look like today, all your vids are great for 80s fans of the classics. Looking forward to more. Thanks for your hard work. Would love to see a lesser know movie done like “Rooftops-1989” or “Spike of Bensonhurst-1988” .thanks again
Thank you very much! Awesome to hear all that good stuff... I like to check some lesser known flicks as well. I will look into those and try to get them done.. Appreciate the requests as well.
I went to see the Wanders in 1979 i was 17 years old and i just saw the movie for the second time and it brought back so many good memories that I'll always treasure in my heart . I was born and raised in the Bronx on 176 & Belmont Ave those were the good old days Thank you for taking me back to my youthful days 💯❤️😇🙏🙌😎✌️💪👋😀👍👍
Thankyou for your time and effort you put in making this video. The wanderers is my all time favourite film and its fantastic seeing all the locations , must of been quiet something seeing these places in the flesh .
A massive thank you all the way from belfast Northern Ireland. This was the first movie I seen and was on beta max. A movie myself an friends still talk about an quote today 👍👍👍
Hey Nick, this was a real treat, thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. The Wanderers is my favourite film of all time and I even made a special video talking about it a few years ago back in Scotland. I am now in Ontario Canada these days with my family and I hope to get to New York and The Bronx one of these days in the near future. I really appreciate the effort you made here. Look forward to watching more of your videos. Wishing you all the very best!
How do you like living in Canada? I look forward to visiting the area in the future. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to write this great comment. Hope you get to the city soon! Likewise and thanks a lot!!
9 minutes in, I’m buzzing about this just as much as you are. Absolutely insane work bro really loving this. Help me to see the fourth dimension of time. Same place just many layers of time later. It’s brilliant I’m loving these videos.
ive been enjoying that movie for over 40 years... i find a new detail with every watch and the music hooks you in straight away. definitely a 10 out of 10 movie
I’m from the UK. Next March heading to NY for 5 days, this is the key part of the trip for me. Thank you for such an amazing video and leads for the day, as I try and visit each key area. I suspect it will be emotional - all of us fans will get it. Growing up might not have been the same without this. When Tony Ganios died earlier this year I was devastated.
Thank you so much, Nick P. You really gave me some perspective on where the scenes in my favorite movie of all time were filmed. I remember when this movie was in the theaters in the Summer of 1979 and could not wait to see it. I went back several times with my friends to see it that summer. This movie always had extra meaning for me as I have lived in New York all of my life. Thanks, again!
That’s great to hear Matt, and thanks you! I’m going to be doing a second part in the future. There are still a couple of locations I haven’t been able to track down but I’ll find them. It’s def one of those rare movies that you can watch over and over. Classic.
Wow I know this whole area! I used to Work as a Usher at the RKO Theater and my wife works at Woolworths across then street. That was Fordham and Valentine avenue. YO you did a great job thank you for this . it brings back a lot of memorie, GOD bless you !!!
What a movie, great memories watching it growing up in Ordsall, Salford in England and nice to see these locations now - we adopted the famous whistle which is still used today in the area - thanks for all the hardwork that goes into producing this 👏🏼👏🏼
...I'm from there...lived and grew up in that neighborhood...graduated from Columbus HS and was going there when this was being made, I still remember all the older cars being parked out in front of the school...hung out most of those locations...I just happen to come across this but glad I did...actually took me back to those days...Thanks!...
One of my all time favorite movies! Thanks for this, I always thought the bleachers maybe had small lockers rooms underneath and that’s where the Del Bombers came from but they just walked through from the back side it looks like. Would love to make it to these locations one day.
I really can't tell you what watching this video made me feel. I was about 13 in 1981 when I saw the movie and its been a part of me ever since. I've often thought about those locations and whether they still existed and would be recognisable; I'd love to visit NY and see these hallowed grounds for myself, before the end. When you walked up those bleachers I swear I could hear Emilio growling 'sonsabitches' and wished with all my being that I could get out there and fight with them. I''ll never forget seeing Chubby Galasso dragging Despie away as the DB's began to swarm, exactly as a father would do. Thank you so much for making this, I truly appreciate it.
I remember taking a field trip to Van Cortlandt Park with my 6th grade class in late spring of 1979 right before summer break, and we were on that same field where the Wanderers played football… Very nostalgic! I used to go to the Van Cortlandt pool back then too. Very beautiful park!
You need to do a part 2 and show the bowling alley, the church where Despie tells richie she is pregnant, the restaurant towards the end of the movie where they sing the wanderers and where Nina watches bob Dylan and also the bridge in the park where the baldies played the prank on Joey and Richie , I just wanna say how much I appreciate this, one of my favorite movies since I was a 10year old saw this In San Francisco Ca . when it came out in 1979
@@NickP I can’t thank you enough , like I said in my previous post I watched the wanderers as a kid and as a teenager I introduced the wanderers to my girlfriend who is now my wife of 27 years and it’s our favorite movie and when my 3 sons where about 10 or so I showed them the wanderers and its 1 of their favorite movie it’s great to see them quote the movie …”leave the kid alone “, “elbow tittin champ of the Bronx “and so many others ,,thx again
This was brilliant!!!!Thank you !!!! Been watching this movie since 94’ when my sister had it on vhs,I still love to watch it on Blu ray at least a couple of times a year, amazing seeing these locations
I'm English but the Wanderers just has to be the absolute best film from my youth!.. I was actually a sixteen year old music loving (sixties style) skinhead in 1979, when it came out, so youth culture was definitely my thing.. Also, as the film is set in 1963 - as per the assasination of JFK, as in the movie shown on the news in TV shop windows, shocked and heartbroken people gathering, at the same time Richie and Despie reunite - the film is also set in the year of my birth, making it even more a special, amazing, thing for me!! Loved it.. Still love it.. Always will.. All the very best, and, as per the sentiments of others below, lots of love from an English fella (who now actually lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand), and thanks so much very for this amazing then-and-now filming location look-back... x
It’s really cool how tight of a bond you have with this film. I have a favorites list of movies that are practically family haha. The Wanderers is a genuine classic and one of a kind. Fearless and ahead of its time, even though set in the past... I’m glad this video brought back some fond memories for you! I will do a part two for as many remaining locations I can find. Thanks a lot!!
WOW.....LOVED this very much Nick!! We are going to have to watch this classic movie again now! You never disappoint our friend!!! GREAT job as always! Stay safe out there! :)
Loved that movie. One of my favorites. I’m also a Bronx boy. Born in Pelem bay general hospital in 1966. Thank u for your video of an awesome movie from my old neighborhood. 👊💪👍
Great video from start to finish nothing boring about it. Wish I was standing right beside you filming these iconic locations. Saw this movie when I was 10 years old and I could not wait until it came out on video I have it on VHS and DVD. I always thought that the ducky boys was the most creepiest scariest gang in the world
Great video, thank you! Uploaded on my birthday aswell, so it was a nice little present which i discovered now a few months after. Superb, loved the movie.
That’s great.. Happy Belated to ya, and thanks a lot! Btw - I will do another video for this movie at some point, for the locations not seen in this video. Trying to find a couple more spots.
What an absolute treat! The Wanderers for me is a timeless, iconic film with so many quotable lines. I was part of a Rockabilly/Rock n Roll movement here in the U.K. that was kicking off around the same time, and being half Italian I was obviously a 'Wanderer'😉. As the film was set in the early 60's it was packed full of cool imagery....if you could just remove the 21st century 'blobby' cars and the shitty graffiti, you could shoot it again!! Thank you for doing this, Nick. "Wanderers forever!"
Excellent work Nick one of my favorite movies of all time you captured everything to perfection thank you and much success I will be watching and looking for your work as well as spreading the word. 😎
Thanks a lot! I’ll be doing an additional video for The Wanderers locations not seen in this video. I’m trying to track them all down. I’m about 75% there...
Great work on this one Nick..... really great work 👍🏻 really exciting to see as the locations are still identical after all these years. Must be so satisfying for you to find them and match up. Thanks for all your hard work and time. Stay safe buddy 👍🏻
It's awesome how much you enjoyed the video, and it is amazing how similar these locations look over 40 years later.. I really do have a good time finding these places haha Thanks a lot Aaron!!
Awesome then an now video Nick! I can still remember watching this movie at the drive in theater wen it came out back in "79". Great music in this movie too!!
Great work mate. Was fun seeing all the locations from one of my all time favourite movies. And amazing that some haven't changed a lot in 40 odd years.
Excellent work. One of my all time favorite flicks. Some of those original railings still in place like it was yesterday. And although I'm not from America, there are street scenes in _The Wanderers_ were I could almost feel a chill wind blowing through the Bronx...
I actually read somewhere ages ago that scene almost turned real because the director was sending the Ducky's at the wanderers in wave's but telling them to really slam into the wanderers an it got so physical that real punches were being thrown. Dunno if it's true but sounds legit. Also real ex Ducky's came to the shooting one day angered that they were being misrepresented they started making threats towards Wahl n co then they saw the guy who played terror walking towards them an promptly left lol.
Thank you so much for having the drive and knowledge to get this done. I absolutely love what you've done. Great commentary as well. Very relaxing to watch.
Hi, Jerry here - new sub too. I can't believe that this movie showed The Ducky Boys. Would you believe that I actually got in a small fight with them way back when? Well, I did, but there were only about five of them who said they were them. My friends abandoned me, but I kept on fighting with them and got in a few shots before I went down, but I wasn't really hurt too bad. I remember getting a detective to try and help me find them, but we drove and drove and couldn't. I always remembered their name, and it blows my mind that they were actually famous enough to be known so widely. I met someone near where I live that asked me if I remembered them, like wow. Then it was hard to believe, and now even more so. Anyway, thanks for this incredible upload showing the awesome work that you did to match the movie sets with the "current" way things look, well at least two years ago. I really appreciate all that you did to bring this all to us!! As for Christopher Columbus High School, yeah that was my school as well 😊
Thanks a lot! I have a feeling the bowling alley might have been filmed where Scorcese filmed a scene from the Irishman. I couldn't confirm because the location recently closed down. Some say Queens but I'm not certain. If the bowling alley in Morris Park where The Irishman was filmed was once larger, thank it was dome at that location. I will eventually find out the restaurant as well.
Thank you so much for providing this trip back in time. I have to admit, many of these locations have aged well. They might even look better. I had no idea it was shot in the city, I’m from the west coast, here everything is on a sound stage. There is so much history here, has the city ever considered putting up historical markers. I got the chill the entire time. You really put forth extra effort in this video. Thanks again! As a Latino, I often wonder what group I would go with, back in the day? Blessings ❤. Alex from LA
Hey Nick, I just finished another brilliant video my friend. You do such an amazing job recreating the scenery for us, thank you. Keep Spinning and Winning...Cheers

Awesome that’s my old neighborhood Fordham road I remember Alexander’s then it was caldors and when woolworths closed down in the 90s
Worked at Alexander's as a stock boy while in high school; remember Krum's across the street? The RKO Fordham, the Valentine, etc, etc.?
What’s the name of the alley where they’re all walking down while the wanderer song is playing please 🙏🏻

Did you make it to the film forum when they showed the film a few years back with Tony,Toni and Karen.
Great video. The most underrated movie ever made IMO, over shadowed by the “ Warriors” that same year
Excellent video, sir! It was so eerie when you walked into that little courtyard @4:38 and I suddenly realized you were standing in that exact same spot where the first confrontation takes place between the Baldies and the Wanderers. So cool!

That’s great.. Happy Belated to ya, and thanks a lot! Btw - I will do another video for this movie at some point, for the locations not seen in this video. Trying to find a couple more spots.
@@NickP I’ll be on the lookout then!
That’s awesome! Glad to hear it!!
I’m predominantly Italian myself.. classic stuff.. they certainly don’t make them like they use to!!!!
Oh my what a treat! You are to be applauded - what courage of you to go down to these locations in these rough areas. Kudos and thx.
Thanks a lot!!
Excellent video Nick. Love this movie.
Thanks a lot Robert!
Excellent video!
Thank you so much for making this video
It's my pleasure.. Thank you for the feedback!
Awesome then an now video Nick! I can still remember watching this movie at the drive in theater wen it came out back in "79". Great music in this movie too!!
Thanks a lot Jay!
Great work mate. Was fun seeing all the locations from one of my all time favourite movies. And amazing that some haven't changed a lot in 40 odd years.

My pleasure, glad to hear you enjoy it.. Thanks a lot!
Great work Nick, esp the side by side comparisons. About to watch your vid on 'The Warriors' next
Thanks a lot! FYI Most of that series unfortunately doesn't offer the side by sides.
Excellent work. One of my all time favorite flicks. Some of those original railings still in place like it was yesterday. And although I'm not from America, there are street scenes in _The Wanderers_ were I could almost feel a chill wind blowing through the Bronx...
This was awesome!! One of my favorite movies from years ago. Amazing how much many of the locations still look the same.
Great video. Thank you, so much enjoyed it. Classical movie
This and the warriors , 2 of my favourite movies. Ty for both

Thank You for Making this.I also love being in areas of places where Movies have been made here in this Great City of ours N.Y.C
Iove this movie with all my heart and it has the greatest movie fight scene of all time I that football field 😂
Glad to hear it... I agree, crazy lol... Thanks a lot!
Great work nick!.
Thanks a lot Geoffrey!
Fan-frickin-tastic my man! Very kool to view this right after watching this classic. Feels like time stood still. Thanks for sharing

Wow that was absolutely brilliant. Always wanted to go to van cortlandt stadium 🏟
Thanks a lot!
As for Christopher Columbus High School, yeah that was my school as well 😊
Thanks for posting this. I grew up in this area. 2775 Kingsbridge Terrace.
Great job, Do you know where the bowling alley or the Italian restaurant at the end is exactly located?
Thanks a lot! I have a feeling the bowling alley might have been filmed where Scorcese filmed a scene from the Irishman. I couldn't confirm because the location recently closed down. Some say Queens but I'm not certain. If the bowling alley in Morris Park where The Irishman was filmed was once larger, thank it was dome at that location. I will eventually find out the restaurant as well.
@@NickP I think the restaurant scene is on Arthur Ave, Fordham section of the Bronx. My guess.
Amazing job. That was awesome. Enjoy the Holidays!
Thanks a lot bud.. And you as well!
Thanks, I remember watching this at the cinema when I was 17. The main character that stood out was Joeys crazy dad, I couldnt figure him out!
I know what you mean haha

Wow man I was amazed at this video 👏👏👏 everything looks the same still great vid my man I loved it 👍😎
Glad to hear it, and I really appreciate it!
@@ifsaica Thanks a lot Alex! It’s awesome to hear you enjoyed the video while having it bring back some fond memories.
