I'm in Little Rock, Arkansas - this guy, David Paul, is the absolute best at explaining all of the details of why things happen during a Hurricane! Please keep David Paul on weather matters! I will check with KHOU 11, even from Little Rock, Arkansas, on weather matters! Thanks for the outstanding explanations of storm issues! Love it!
Another great place for weather is Ryan Hall Y'all. He does daily updates and has storm chasers live once landfall gets closer. He goes live then and will stay on for hours.
David Paul and Tim Pandajis are honestly my #1 and #2 for all major weather events and national weather phenomena even from California. Tim isn't quite as good as David at explaining everything but he's really coming into his own and it'd be a shame if KHOU let either of them go.
During Carla we had not near the technology to track storms as we do today. It's like a Computer model now vrs. wetting you finger and sticking your finger in the air in the 1960's.
This report is very comprehensive. I am in Canada, far from the dangers of this horrific event. My hope is everyone try to be ready enough to make it through. Bless all.
Thank you David. I am EXTREMELY INTENTLY watching from Tampa. I've had a bad feeling about this one since he got his name. We're about as ready as we can be.
Right now I don't care about politics or how the Republican party is taking away our freedoms without any vote but if you live in Florida here's a tip take a empty 2 L ( as many as you want) fill it with water about 1/3 of the way then freeze it if you lose power it'll help keep your refrigerator cool and when it melts you got cold drinking water.
Appreciate the constant updates from KHOU11, my parents are in Florida so I have been checking in with them. Making sure that they move off the west coast until the storm passes.
I lived in Sarasota County (Venice) for 20 years until 2020 when I moved to NC. I hope everyone is paying close attention to these forecasts. My thoughts are with everyone. If you are evacuating please take your pets. I hope you all will be safe I know it is scary!
Was a longtime resident of Florida if todays forecast pans out, wow so bad for Tampa South. Please don't die stupidly evacuate. This will not be cool to hangout in. Could be weeks without power in some places
At 74 years of age and having watched/listened to meteorologists forecast hurricanes (I am a Floridian), I have never seen anyone who comes close to David Paul in getting information out in a really understandable way. He is a truly impressive teacher!! Thank you, Mr. Paul!
This is one of the best informative detailed storm forecast I have had the privilege to watch i n a very long time thank you for this great explanation of what is coming with this storm
Dave Paul KHOU 11 was so explainable good details to hurricane Ian I watch on UA-cam from Google News ill check this weather channel more often great job.
@@Hy-Brasil that's true, I remember sitting at home watching the weather and it was just sitting in the gulf getting stronger. It wasn't supposed to be a Cat 5, but it definitely became one before landfall
Categories are not the most dangerous about a hurricane its the storm surge. Texans were reminded of that in Ike. I think that caused them to change the way they forecast storms. The categories are only wind speed.
the really interesting thing is that in the past few years, there have been storms that stall out in their northern motion. it would be quite interesting to see a hurricane stall out over the warm water, and continue to expand and intensify before making landfall.
I grew up in Kansas with tornados. I think the hurricane threat would send me packing! Between the surge and the rainfall, wow! Yes, you get head notice, sorta, but how do you prepare to potentially lose everything? It's gonna blow away, wash away or just plain soak up the water. I'm in NE Wyoming now... safe. Good luck to everyone in Florida. Stay safe, Vickie PS I forgot to tell you, I really liked your presentation. And I could understand every word without looking at the CC. Good voice
Please everyone if you have pets do not leave them behind. If you are unable to evacuate with them, then call your local rescue or shelter! God bless you all🙏
Having gone through hurricane betsy as a child, then Andrew and Katrina, one thing is constant, these storms do what they want and go wherever. Stay safe
Nice to see explanations of the storm and possible effects instead of tons of spaghetti O's and guesses on exactly were it's going to hit bottom line most of the West Coast of Florida going to be highly effected. 👍
@@susanm7354 Unless you're near the coast, as long as you're in a good house, you'll be alright. Plus not everyone has the means to evacuate. It's expensive.
Are you guys uploading in vp9 codec? I’m getting 360p on big tv, it’s rough. Im in Florida but David is our favorite weather man. Love the long format weather updates.
If Ian hits Tampa and pushes store surge into the bay it will be devastating. Tampa has not had a direct hurricane hit in a hundred years. This storm reminds me of the 2005 hurricane season and Hurricane Charlie which was on a direct course for Tampa, but turned right just hours before landfall, hitting Punta Gorda, and Port Charlotte. I doubt we will be that lucky with Hurricane Ian.
interesting that St Pete isn't mentioned. I lived there for 17 years and there will be massive flooding and devastating damage. easily great loss of life. People in St. Pete don't think they will ever be hit and they don't prepare.

I miss Little Rock. Whole Hog Cafe was one of my favorite bbq places there. The McCain Mall brought back great memories.
Dotto that...David Paul -- extremely knowledgeable. Excellent.
Great presentation! One of most articulate breakdowns I've ever seen.
KHOU11 has at least 3 stellar meteorologists, including David Paul, from viewings the past few days. Fantastic presentation here!
Great presentation with explanation of facts and predictions. I remember Carla and glad to see someone competent on TV explaining this storm.

Most of us Floridians are like:
"Cat 3 hurricane? Eh, no problem. We do this all of the time."
"Oh, cat 4 hurricane... Ok, it's time to GTFO"
Yeah but michael was supposed to weaken when it hit land. But it didn't. By the time it GTFO time it was too late for a lot of people.

Storm surge packs more power/damage more than wind speed.
The storm is 500 miles wide. That is the width of most of the state.

So glad storm surge is emphasized now, I remember for Ike we were like "oh its just a cat 2"
I have a strong feeling this storm will cross florida but not thru Tampa but lower
This is what I'm expecting as well. A further shift east sooner rather than later which could technically have it making landfall as a Cat 4
