    There were most likely muslims in the americas, we have an old map from an arab cartographer showing an "unknown continent", and the spaniards constantly claiming to see moorish houses, mosques, and muslims, taino language also shows similarity with the Madinka of Africa, who were muslims, reported to have sailed west.

      A map does not equal presence, but merely exploration. spaniards describing something as moorish doesn't necessarily mean much, as we've seen in this video. If there was muslim presence in the americas, we would have known of that through muslim historykeeping. at the very least.

    • @VenoicVizier
      @VenoicVizier 2 місяці тому +29

      @@mugen7819 It's funny how you think all of history has been preserved lol
      As for presence, the Spaniards give evidence for that, and that's more than enough, columbus was an educated man, he wouldn't have described anything as simply "moorish" looking, add to it that we do, in fact, have malian records where 2 expeditions west into the ocean have taken place, and we find the taino people report to the Europeans that they've met men with spears with tips of Gold, and used the same word for gold as the malians do in their language.
      Polynesians had already traded with south western American nations as far as we can tell, vikings already attempted to settle for a short time yet left, and west Africans have sailed to it as per their records, with the natives witnessing it per their testimony, so you are wrong there bud.
      Columbus was, though a terrible person, educated in some ways, and he, as an enemy of the moors, would know what moors looked like.
      You westerners call it "the new world", yet Polynesians, Scandinavians and west Africans had frequented it for quite some time, don't like it? Keep being deluded, we mapped it and sailed to it and traded with them, and have you own "discoverer" to testify our presence.

      @@overvault "Now that would be a surprising turn of events were it true. So where did Mroueh get his information? His source, he says, is Nigel Davies’s Voyagers to the New World (1979), a book that actually sought to debunk most trans-Atlantic contact theories. I can’t find a reference to this claim in the book, but Google’s search function may have missed it. Other sources attribute the claim to Ivan van Sertima, but in what publication I do not know. That isn’t important though because pretty much everything Mroueh reports is utterly wrong.
      First, October 21, 1492 was not a Monday. The actual date of the event in question was Monday, October 29, 1492. Columbus and his crew were sailing near a particularly pleasant river that he had named San Salvador. There he encountered the source of Mroueh’s fictitious claim, as given (in the third person, from the redaction of Bartolome de las Casas) in his journal of his first voyage, describing what historians now believe is the region near Bariay, not Gibara, as Mroueh-following older sources-claimed:
      Remarking on the position of the river and port, to which he gave the name of San Salvador, he describes its mountains as lofty and beautiful, like the Pena de las Enamoradas, and one of them has another little hill on its summit, like a graceful mosque. The other river and port, in which he now was, has two round mountains to the S.W., and a fine low cape running out to the W.S.W.
      And there you have it: The “mosque” was merely a poetic description of a natural formation."

    Why do Muslims refer to them as "Crusaders"? In our history books throughout the Muslim world we always called them Faranjis (origin of the word foreigner; meaning Europeans). No Muslims alive at the time of these wars felt they were about a cross or religion. It was about Europeans wanting power, territory, money, glory through conquest. They merely used their religious symbol of cross for this purpose and called it a crusade. The proof of this is a fact we often forget that these Crusaders didn't just want Jerusalem, they also wanted to defeat Constantinople, then a Christian city. It wasn't about the cross. I think calling them Crusades legitimates the "religious war between Christianity and Islam" thesis, which is the opposite of Emir-Stein's raison d'être of religious literacy.

      It actually makes complete sense because I find it strange and coincidental that Columbus discovers the “new world” the same year Alandalus collapses. The Muslims were master navigators and had ruled the ancient world leading up to that point and had sophisticated maps that were destroyed depicting the Americas. Plus it was around that time that Muslims and Jews were kicked out of Spain or know as Andalus and Jews didn’t have much where to go and so Columbus the Jew sailed to this known land called America

    Different point of view of history are complimentary. Although finding a way of reaching the Far East without using the old land silk route then in moslem hands was an important goal and there were fightings between Christians defending against the encroachment of Islam on Europe, there were different interests. According to latest studies Columbus appear to be a converted Sephardic Jew mist probable from Valencia. The Genoa story might have been a way of hiding his origins.Jews were persecuted and finally spelled from Spain a day before he embarked on his first journey. His crew wad composed of many converted jews. He might had have finding a place for jews as one of his goals. They might have expected to find the lost israelite tribes. Actually, his translator was expert on Hebrew.

    Way off base. Columbus was searching for a route to India. He thought he had found it, and called the inhabitants indians. They were such s novelty, he brought some as slaves to show to her Queen. Queen Isabella of Spain was incensed, and ordered Columbus to take them back and free them. For all her new subjects, would be just that, subjects of Spain-- and not slaves. The Queen dismissed Columbus in disgrace, and his son, Sebastian Columbus, a greater slave driver, was tried and imprisoned. Queen Isabella also enjoined the Spanish to marry the indigenous tribes and vice-versa. P.D. Within the year we shall soon know Columbus' true origins. They are getting ready to do extensive genetic tests on his remains. Whatever the result, he was an avaricious man. Considering the times, Queen. Isabella was the more enlightened of the lot.
