True, they should have given a build to match the build it goes with or given a troop builder pack with including a troll or something that would have added to the set. It looks a little about a 4+ set.
I understand it's a GWP but they can always make a GWP that's a decent looking build and release this as a better build for more 💸 and people will buy it. I think Lego can try for a small and epic GWP.
Personal anecdote: the sail boat in 2021 has ruined my expectations for GWPs forever. Cause it's in my top 10 favorite sets ever. It's just so....happy. A very happy set. Yeah, no exclusive minifigs or anything, but now I compare other GWPs to the subjective feeling of "joy" that the sail boat gave to me.
It is just a well executed, full feeling, over all good set. I’d buy it if it was $20 and getting it for free just felt like getting a birthday gift from a mega conglomerate.
GWP does not influence if I will buy a set, but it does affect when I will buy a set. If it’s a very desirable GWP that I know will be expensive to buy in secondary market, then I will buy the set day one. I did that for Gringotts, Lion Knights Castle and 1989 UCS Batmobile. Otherwise, I’d rather wait for sale or double VIP.
I can imagine a Minas Tirith or Minas Morgul set coming next year with the Witch King of Angmar or Ride of the Rohirrim GWP possibly. Or, imagine, a giant Mûmakil set 😍
Minas Tirith and Minas Morgul are the most likely for being made into a set for LOTR either later this year or sometime 2025. If there's going to be a Minas Tirith set, and Lego does another GWP, one depicting a bit of the Battle of Pellinor Fields/Ride of the Rohirrim feel like the best choices to do. If there's a GWP for a Minas Morgul set (unlikely but can still hope), they could do the Stairs to Cirith Ungol which would make a lot of sense for the set, and consider there's already a set of Cirith Ungol/Shelob's lair, it'd tie in nicely with the older LOTR sets.
My expectations were a little higher because the people who leaked it having 3 minifigs are usually very reliable, however I am not bothered about it not having those 2 extra figs, I'm still just excited to get it cause I really like the build, even if it's not perfect, I just wish that gwp's were available to purchase on their own, I think that would really solve most issues people have with them
I agree. Maybe having the GWP available to to everyone several months after the set that includes it has been released, giving the set buyers a head start on owning the GWP for first hands on reasons or so.
Personally, I dislike the entire concept of the current LEGO GWP landscape. I really wish LEGO would stop with all GWPs that aren't just basic parts packs or a simple poly bags. The whole FOMO on a GWP because it has exclusive minifigures really irks me. If a GWP set is going to be so desirable, just make it a normal retail set. I also really hate how LEGO now even sends GWPs to LAN members to review, just adding to the pressure for fans to spend more money to get the GWP... I'll add that I am very glad that the Barad-Dur GWP is not that desirable now because of the lack of exclusive figures, so now I do not feel the need (pressure) to buy the set on day 1, and can better manage my LEGO budget.
agreed! poly bags are cool.... but actual sets are not.... I would have wanted many forestman hide outs to make a little forest out of and moc up something bigger... as a GWP its just a basic shadow of what it could have been. Such as Majistos workshop, with a 50$ budget price would have given them the piece count to make it a very worth while set. I passed on that one completely.
As if Lego should say “we don’t want anyone to feel any pressure to buy our products” “Let’s include a nice GWP but not be to showy about it” lol. That’s the opposite of good salesmanship. No different then things like “get it while supplies last!” Or “SALE”
Yeah I see what you're saying, you already have your Barra dur set which should be your main focus anything else is a bonus and only really adds to the build especially since it's technically free
My expectation was that the Fell Beast wasn't going to look like the throwaway 3rd build from a sub-par 3-in-1 set. Especially the head, flat 1x2 curved slopes when the angled/notched version seems like the obvious choice to me. At least my complaint is about the easiest thing in the world to modify. 3 exclusive figs seemed like an extreme long shot to me, so only getting one lines up with my assumptions.
and this boys and girls, is why we always take leaks with a grain of salt. I think most of the reactions are due to what people believed they would get vs what they got in the end. I have never bought a set based of an existing GWP. I will wait for some double VIP promo to get it.
Different persons. Some people get frustrated with exclusive figs with a GWP... Some people plan on getting the GWP and get disapointed for it not having thr exclusive figs...
I guess the thing for me with the GWP isn't exactly the amount of figs, but rather the build itself. The Fell-Beast really should have been part of Barad-dur (even though that set on it's own is fantastic) or what I hope will be a new, far-improved set in the future. For example, a Pelinnor Fields Battle with the Witch-King, Eowyn, Pippin and Theoden as a more affordable, sizable but small set. The other thing that bugs me is that the little Mount Doom diorama with Frodo and Sam I don't think really works with Barad-dur. HOWEVER, as a GWP with the fig swapped out for, say, Isildur (maybe even Gil-galad or Elrond as a second fig), the Mount Doom thing would have worked. Even one of those figs as an exclusive would have been a very nice and fitting GWP. This is mainly because I don't see Lego making a set with Isildur or Gil-galad, and I was hoping that they'd have made an appearance in Barad-dur or the GWP, so its a shame we missed out on those characters. Basically what I'm trying to is: Barad-dur is an amazing looking set, and I'm getting it regardless. That said, the Fell-Beast either should have been included in the actual set (since it doesn't appear to be that complex a build, and the figure is likely what you say, a cobbled-together Nazgul with old/barely indistinguishable prints) or should have been reserved for an idea like I mentioned above. Its nice to have, there's incentive to get it, but at the end of the day, there was better options for a GWP. Anyways, thanks for the fun video!
Before the reveal, I literally saw people saying it better have the Witch King with new molded helmet, brand new Théoden, and brand new Éowyn…like…really people??
I think all gift with purchase sets should be made available to purchase separately. More money for Lego, more affordable for us, it would be a win win!
LEGO fans are never happy, just like Fallout fans, Assassin’s Creed fans… well, fandoms in general. Edit: Gift With Purchases are free. LEGO owes NOTHING to their customers except quality control, which apparently has gotten worse since some reviewers have encountered full on missing parts! As if mold lines and printing weren’t bad enough. Aside from what we purchase, however, LEGO owes us nothing. GWPs are free when we meet the required thresholds. Mind you, making certain GWPs exclusive to certain purchases is a little unfair, and that should be corrected, but I also understand that someone buying a FRIENDS set may not care for a Star Wars or LOtR GWP. In addition to them being free (when you’ve spent the required amount), LEGO VIP/Insiders is also free. They really don’t owe us massive sets as GWPs with multiple exclusive minifigures. Honestly. They shouldn’t make exclusive figures for GWPs, in my own personal opinion, because it makes it feel like they’re trying to bait you. Someone below said GWPs determine WHEN they buy certain sets, and that’s honestly what GWPs should be intended for. A bonus for spending a certain amount of money. With all that said, and even if LEGO IS using them to bait potential buyers, it’s still not something they owe to us. They giving it away with a certain set. LEGO buyers, the ones complaining, need to grow up and stop crying over not getting free stuff. Greed is ugly, and that’s what is showing. Those customers can no longer complain when LEGO is being greedy, since they are no different. I also speculate it’s the resellers who are mostly complaining, and they have zero right to, since they are taking advantage of buyers who miss out.
I’m quite happy with the GWP. It’s not a brickheadz and will be a nice addition to the collection. It’s free after all! Asking for three exclusive figs in a GWP is insane and unrealistic.
GWP tends to be an incentive to buy direct from LEGO--and to do it as soon as a set is released. If the GWP is good, then the incentive works; if not, it does not. Disappointment with this GWP has less to do with minifig and more with the quality of Fell Beast design. There are MOCs with a similar piece count that are more compelling.
Look early lego sets were little to be desired.. but now they are some of the most coveted and hard to find..The Fell Beast just may be in that category sooner if not later…
If you watch videos of LAN with the Barad Dur set there is a sticker in the Mouth of Sauren office with a silhouette of the Fell Beast and it matches the front of the GWP box art.
I think this is the perfect gift with purchase as it is easily passable but also does include an exclusive figure. I think the people who are disappointed are the ones who were already planning on getting this set day one and the people who are relieved are the people who were already planning on not getting it day one.
I pay little attention to GWPs. They are nice to get, but they do not affect my purchase decisions. I can’t believe people whine about something they are getting for free. If you like it, build it. If you don’t, give it away.
They should have used the same design language as they did when they made Smaug. Someone dropped the ball with this one. They also should have made the set with a closeable back to avoid a dollhouse situation. 😔
I think the biggest problem in this case is the lack of small(er) LotR sets. People are starving for affordable LEGO sets in this Theme and all that we get are these huge sets. That's where all the frustration comes from, after that it's just easy to start complaining about everything, you're starving! 😜
I was looking forward to the GWP. The disappointment came because it was hyped up to include 3 exclusive figs. But I am actually glad it didn’t. I will still buy the set, just not day one.
Think it’s just a difference in voices and groups you hear. Some threads will have people complaining about gwps being even somewhat decent where another group wants to have a nice exclusive gift for spending up.
It does happen. Manchester United stadium had a GWP with three exclusive minifigs representing the trinity of 3 legendary players. Although the execution was meh as they were only plain red torsos with number printing on the back. But none the less, they were desirable exclusive figs. Barcelona stadium also did the same but minifigs were fans instead of players.
I don't spend hundreds of dollars on LEGO sets. Gimme the sets for $20 or less. Gimme my LEGO Builder app and Bricklink. I'll be perfectly happy. Anyway, that's the kind of fan I am. If someone else does LEGO differently, as long as they are happy, I don't mind.
I’m holding off on Rivendell for Double Points. I can understand why some might hold off for a GWP, but most GWP aren’t that great, so it’s not much of a motivating factor for me.
I don’t mind that the GWP is a Fellbeast with Ringwraith as this can be seen as a prototype for a future release of a set that includes the Witch King of Angmar atop his Fell Beast that wears an armored crown, perhaps a Rohan armored Eowyn, Merry, and King Theoden and his horse. A Pelennor fields base would complete this vignette with these figures and serve as a fantastic smaller scale set. But expecting something like that as a GWP for a $460 set that is exclusive to a 7 day window is too much and would be unfortunate for fans who are choosing to save their money until they can afford Barad Dur (myself included) Great video, and a good wake up call to Lego fans!
Idk. I didnt really expect 3 exclusive minifigures in the GWP. However, that would have been cool to have especially dropping $460 on this set. But i mean, i saved some money, and i had over $220 in VIP i used all on it. Im just more disappointed that the fellbeast doesnt have eyes. Seems a bit odd.
People in the Lego community hear a rumor and think it is fact. They get disappointed when the rumor turns out to be false. For me personally, I am actual glad the GWP isn't as good as it was said to be. I will get the set (I think it looks awesome) but I wasn't prepared to shell out $460 for it now. Since I don't care about this GWP as it is, I can now wait for a sale/promotion that is better.
I just wanted a good looking Fellbeast with a Nazgûl I didn't expect anything else like it wouldn't make sense to have the Witch King in here Lego probably want to use him for another set and I understand why but we did get a Nazgûl and it's not that much to them really they are simple yet cool I did get kinda disappointed when I saw the Fellbeast I mean it's just stright up ugly it doesn't even look like a Fellbeast but it's free so why not? I would NEVER buy the Fellbeast as a stand alone set tho I could probably customize it and maybe I could make it looks a little bit better I that shouldn't be something that need to do just to make it look right and good or just ok even
I think it makes sense that no matter what LEGO does people are going to be happy with GWP's. LEGO is emotionally incentivizing you to buy something at a time you otherwise wouldn't through the fear of missing the opportunity to get an exclusive set. If it's a good GWP it's an effective cash grab, if it's bad it's a lazy cash grab. Either way, LEGO is the one gaining profit and losing nothing under the idea that it's free so no one should be complaining.
You nailed it in this video! I saw so many fans comment on both sides of this. At the end of the day, it’s a completely free set with a purchase. I think the build of the fell beast could have been better, but it’s probably a tight rope that the Lego group is walking with these incentives. May the 4th is a great example. If they give too good of a set, not fair to those who can’t afford larger sets. If it’s too small of a set, or some other collectible, it’s a let down from last year. I personally do purchase sets if a good GWP is available. I use them as parts, sell them to offset costs, or just enjoy them as a small afternoon build.
Psychology pure and simple. It is the contrast effect. In this case the "negative" contrast effect. People value the Fell beast GWP less BECAUSE they had an original expectation of more. If they had an original expectation of less (positive contrast) they would have valued it more. And when I say "less" or "more" it is in comparison to a control group who never had any previous expectations. Didn't hear the leaked rumours about 3 minifigs (people like me).
Personally it doesnt determine whether or not i would buy a set i want but it does determine whether or not i buy at launch or wait for double pts/other gwps like say around black Friday
Anything LEGO does will always get complaints from some adult LEGO fans. It's the internet age :D I rarely buy sets on day one, but this time will do it because of the GWP. The only other time I did it was for Gringotts. What triggers me is a GWP that integrates well with the set and that I feel brings some additional value.
Complaining about a gift with purchase is like complaining about a comic con exclusive Lego fan: A limited time set that will have exclusive minifigures how could they!!! Also Lego fan: Sure I’ll pay a few hundred dollars to go to an event just to get this exclusive minifigure Make it make sense
Ok Crazy idea, What if the fell beast was just part of the set it self, no limited releases a and to top it of it gets a better budget. Same thing if it was it own set. The budget would be better. I think we need to go back to the older times of GWP being smaller sets. $5-$10 range. Not $20 to $30. All the small affordable sets feel like they are becoming GWP.
For some reason, people like to get their hopes up based on leaks that aren't always factual. Hoping something is going to be a certain way is fine. Feeling entitled to have things be the way you want is a bit cringe, because everybody wants something different. Leaks can be exciting, but unfortunately, they tend to cause more harm than good. But hey, people are people.
I am a classic castle fan so I don't know I could be seriously thinking of buying it even though it is well done overall.... its just not something I want to look at over and over. I do not really like GWP that feel like they belong to the set. on a 5,400 piece set adding a couple hundred more isn't going to be noticed. But buying this a few months later will be noticed that the set/ collection feels incomplete. If this had been part of the set would have really topped it off... then a less important part could have been added such as the scene where Frodo cast the ring in the fire. This could have been a little landscape with actual lava pieces and taller cliff that would have made a nice scene, but just be bricks that anyone could obtain so it would not be such a loss to not have. The little scene that it does come with feels unsubstantial, almost like made as a moc from the spare parts this set may come with. So for me if I were a LOTR fan enough to want to buy this for nearly $500... It would either be the first week or never. I held off for a couple of months to buy another set I was really excited for which was the Medieval town square. Hoping they would give us the cheese makers parents or the worf pack cart or something since they have done it before.... but I was not really sure what I was waiting for and not even sure if I would have liked it.. so some of the excitement was a bit over shadowed.... I ended up getting it with the fruit shop and reselling it to recoup some of my cost. Most of the sets the make with GWP should be actual sets to buy. BTW my favorite GWP is the scary shark island... not because I like the build but because it has so many great rock pieces and slopes for all directions with snot bricks. For Mocs its really useful, and fairly cheap vs some of the other ones.
I think 2 minifigs is the sweet spot for a gwp that feels like a great value. The fell beast is the only reason I’m buying day 1 instead of waiting for a discount on Baarad dur, so it has quite the impact for me. I think their main purpose is to make it more justifiable to spend marked up MSRP prices on lego
Ive been excited for Barad-dur since December when rumors were still spreading. Am I disappointed with the GWP? yes. Do i think its too simple and am i disappointed we didn't get the witch king of angmar? Also yes....will this stop me from enjoying the set and the GWP? NO. :) besides, the head can be modified, thats the GORGEOUS part of lego. CUSTOMIZATION OF WHAT YOU DESIRE. :) So everyone gets 5 minutes to vent...then get over it. Enjoy what ya get and change what ya want!
As a ravenous LEGO LOTR fan I can say I was disappointed after being let down by the rumors. The more the better. However I am still happy with the Fell Beast. It could be a lot worse.. they could have given brickheads as the promo again like Rivendell. We just need a full theme revival with small sets.
I just think a lot of these GWP could just be wide release sets easily £25-45 priced sets its been happening for a while now and i just see no reason for the quality of such sets to not be wide releases they'd get the money and reach more customers especially with LOTR as there's no affordably priced sets outside brickheadz which is a niche in itself. The Forest Men, Mygisto, Blacktron and the Droid Carrier from TPM all should have been widely available sets.
I planned on getting the set anyways but once I found out about the GWP I figured I might as well get that too. If it weren't for the GWP, I would not be ordering it day one.
Bro the world is filled with diverse people and diverse perspectives. Some were vocally annoyed at the rumored ideas with 3 unique mini-figs. The rumor was wrong. Now the GWP is not really a unique figure, or even 3 for that matter, and some other different people are upset. My guess is that most of it is driven by content creators and their unique audiences. I'm sure there is a venn diagram with a few people annoyed at both the rumor GWP and no the reality GWP. People get vocal when annoyed and less so when they are getting their way. It doesn't confuse me. But sometimes I disagree with one side or the other or I don't take a side at all. In this case, I don't care about this particular GWP (it's a little ugly to me but whatever). In general GWP have never influenced my lego buying. I can think of one time where I timed a purchase to match a GWP and that was mostly serendipitous. I would have made the purchase in the same general timeframe without the GWP. I guess I see them as a nice little bonus now and again.
I don't recall a specific rivendell gift with purchase but I do think the nazgul should be it's own set since they were "the nine" and I'm not going to buy nine barad due sets or pay some ridiculous price for eight more of those sets
FWIF, for me a good GWP can get me to buy a large set on day one vs waiting for double points. They wont get me to buy a set i didn't want in the first place. ALso for me, th efrustration comes from seeing what LEGO can do with something like forest hideout only to have them seemingly phone it in with something like majisto's workshop.
I think those adult Lego UA-camrs and colecters don’t understand that Lego is a kids toy. If you’re a child you don’t have 500 euros/dollars. And I think that Lego is giving the younger lotr fans an upertunity to buy a lotr set. Btw about the expectations I think people wanted to see the witch king and ofc i would love to see the witch king but than I need to buy barad-dur and a lot of kids don’t have the money for it.
It’s free! I love the little gifts. If it’s really good, I will pick up something (Star Wars) but it doesn’t really affect my main plans. And I think the Fell Beast is really nice.
Realy good point..Just imagine..instead of this hood.. it has the crown of the witch King!!..Just that one piece! It would change soo much..in good or bad..i think a good gwp gives the release a more like party vibe..i like the talking with the people who are all exited the first Day a set like this comes out and waiting in a line for the shop to open..i think this gwp is realy oke..still dream about the witchking
No I don’t think collectively we wanted 3 exclusive mini figures… I’m not sure where you got this impression. The GWP is just poor, thus I don’t NEED to buy it day one. I will wait for double points or better GWP.
I did kind of expect the 3 minifigures(i don't have much experience in the world of leaks, so I just kind of believed it, I didn'trealize those set descriptions were just leaks), and I am a little disappointed; though not very surprised.
I'm actually very relieved that the Fellbeast GWP looks absolutely ugly and I thus don't want to have it. Because if it would have looked as epic as f.e. the mock that someone built, I would feed the urge to get it and this sped a ridiculous amount of money on the Board dur. I eventually do want to have the Board dur, but Rivendell is mich higher on my wanted list and thus I want that First. And by the time I'd have saved up enough for barad dur afterwards it'll probably be EOL
Yeah I wish the Fellbeast wasn't a GWP. Right now these LotR sets are way to expensive for me, so having at least SOMETHING a LotR fan such as myself would be gracious. After seeing the new set, I just kinda hope they throw us a bone and make like an orc battle pack or something.
Dont go for a gwp if you dont like it. Dungeons and dragons had a cool one. Harry's gringots bank gwp also was nice . The fellbeast is ok but i will wait till 2x points 😅
I am of the belief GWP is good, but after a few months, allow people to outright buy GWP sets to demand for a period of time. But probably a bit too much to ask. As they are currently just PAB bags
Exactly, i was following the whole thing on reddit, when ppl found out about the rumor of 3 exclusive minifigures they were complaining and calling lego greedy, but when it came out that it was only 1 minifig and not exclusive, ppl were saying they expected more, like make up ur mind lol, okay the set is clunky and a bit meh i agree, but i rather have that than having an amazing gwp behind such a high paywall
I was definitely hyped hearing the rumors about 3 minifigs but I honestly still love the gwp as it is. Just excited to get a Fell Beast as an LOTR fan. So even tho it would have been nice to get more figures, it’s still a great GWP in my opinion.
should look more like the lego lord of the rings video game. Even the jurassic park dinos look better than this. Felled beast and Witch King do not deserve to be a subpar GWP. still awesome tho
Insiders to my understanding just replaced VIP and anyone could become a VIP so I'm sure anyone can be a Insider too you can scan sets for Insider points as well. When buying online the GWP sells out extremely fast so it's always best to try in Store or see if they're available at the secondary market at least £35-60
we should have ZERO expectations for gwps, whatever the rumors are. Because the regular set should always be the main focus, gwps are a bonus. Some gwps should be their own set (blacktron cruiser, forest hideout) and that feels scummy. If we show that we don't care about gwps, (with not spending tons of money to get a small set that will be reselled on bricklink anyway) Lego will stop making them desirable and that's how it should be.
GWP's are a mixed bag for me. Personally I think the new LOTR set has a very disappointing and really nonsensical line up of minifigures. Hobbits don't belong there at all, the Orc's are not very inspiring, the Mouth Of Sauron should be in a new Black Gate, Gollum maybe at a push, leaving just one stand out minifigure for a very expensive set. So the rumour of a GWP with three minifigures had me hoping for something that would compensate for this shortfall. Imagine a quality Fell Beast, with a Witch King, Eowyn and maybe an injured King Théoden. Or at least three detailed Ringwraiths on the lines of the Star Wars Knights of Ren figures. But what we have got is a suspect brick built Fell Beast with what appears to be a reissue of the Ringwraith from the Weathertop set (new hood maybe). This particular GWP should be part of the overall set and available for everyone, but it just seems to be a cynical push to get sales on day one. And again the only people who really miss out are fans who do not have the disposable income exactly when the Lego Group decide to release the GWP but might be able to afford the set later in the year or during a promotion.
while i wasn't buying this. i expect atleast 1 exclusive minifigure. to me this is a box of worthless parts. and the only thing there is the fabric wings
Great points! If you have a minute to answer, I actually wanted to ask your opinion as someone who spends money on lots of Lego and watches the site and cycles of GWP and double points etc. I only have a limited amount of money I can spend each year on Lego and limited space in my home to store/display what I get. I've decided to save up for the Lion Knight's Castle as it seems a good value for my money, has been getting great reviews and seems like a perfect set for a Lego collector like myself. What time of the year would you recommend as the best time to get it in order to try and maximize my value for my money? I have already been thinking about possibly Black Friday as Rakuten does decent cash back promotions then and the Lego group does points deals but what do you think? Also, I'd love to get some good gift with purchases for my big ticket item but I can't remember/don't know if it would be best to plan for Black Friday or if they are known to give better Christmas themed GWP's later on. I was so sad I had to miss out on the horse drawn carriage last year but I didn't have the funding or the plan to get anything to qualify for it then. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated. I just want to be the smartest with my one big purchase for this year that I can be.
I saw the Lions knight castle in select numbers sell for $300 last back friday! Sold out fast though. It actually got me to buy LEGO again after 25ish years of nothing.... I think its the best set they made in overall terms of beauty, size, universal appeal, fun for all ages, variety of minis etc...
@@henrywarmoth1792 it was from lego store online itself! If i had the funds I would have gotten another one... if they ever do that again I will try! Never can tell what they will put for sale, and like i said it did seem to sell out quickly. getting it either used (not as fun though) or with a good GWP to resell may be the best way. I made about 40$ on the lego fruit stand from buying the town square. Its not as good but compliments the castle so well that is just the perfect addition. I love how this round is focusing so much more on the life styles of medieval times and not just the knights. did you get the goat herder?
@@jacobe1942 Thanks for the tip! I'm going to keep an eye out this year. And I have not picked up the goat herder yet but I might have to grab him to put with the castle!
This Lego is not really amazing... I've done better myself and the Nazgul could have been a new one like the witche king of Angmar ! That's why I'm disappointed! The Barad Dur's set is so amazing on the other hand!
I think for me I was hoping for three figures because all of the leaks ( which very little are wrong) had three figs in it. I though that was insane but great. The thing with the fell beast that we is this. The head sucks. I’m a fan of the figure. Not a fan of the head it just looks too plain. The wings look amazing with a great design but I wished they had used different wings so that we could’ve had different printed pieces like for the head.
I’m just disappointed that the GWP doesn’t look good. 1 minifig is fine, but the build doesn’t match the quality of barad dur
True, they should have given a build to match the build it goes with or given a troop builder pack with including a troll or something that would have added to the set. It looks a little about a 4+ set.
That’s because it’s a GWP
I understand it's a GWP but they can always make a GWP that's a decent looking build and release this as a better build for more 💸 and people will buy it. I think Lego can try for a small and epic GWP.
I must be in the minority, I rather like it.
@@TheHumanfly3000That would've been brilliant instead of a half baked GWP build!
Blacktron Cruiser is the best GWP ever. I compare all others to it.

I think the Felbeast itself could've looked better, but I think a Witch King would've been much better than a normal Nazgul
I'd rather have the witch-king in a set instead of a gift with purchase that's going to be gone in a couple of days
They would never have introduced a brand new molded helmet in a GWP
Witch King will be in the Minas Tirith set.
@@GoatzombieBubba There's gonna be a Minas Tirith???
@@DemonDaimyō It's the next logical big LotR set, but it hasn't been announced or leaked yet, so for now it's wishful thinking.
Or make them an Insiders Points redemption later on.
I'm a LOTR and LEGO fan, i would have been so disappointed if i didn't got it, i don't know why it's hard to comprehend.
It’s called marketing. Lego knows how to get our money. Cry about it.
agreed! poly bags are cool.... but actual sets are not....
Tell me you’re a broke idiot, without telling me you’re a broke idiot
Fr, its a free gift.. a gift
Take a shot each time he says 'gift with purchase'.
I think it all comes down to people having just too much of everything that we start to find an issue with everything.
I feel like people were expecting it to be a Witch King of Angmar with a molded helmet similar to Sauron and the Mouth of Sauron
and this boys and girls, is why we always take leaks with a grain of salt. I think most of the reactions are due to what people believed they would get vs what they got in the end. I have never bought a set based of an existing GWP. I will wait for some double VIP promo to get it.
I bought my Barad -dǔr on 6/1 at around 9:30 pm thinking I had three days, and did NOT get the GWP - it was ready unavailable. Totally unacceptable.
They will have to wait for the Minas Tirith set.
Me being here weeks later and knowing how much the fell beast is going for on the aftermarket 😂
See every time i hear leakers and rumors i want to go hide in a corner and shut off everything
closed back will be like 11000 pieces and costs 1200$.
In Europe the Fell Beast sold out within a day. So if you were thinking about it, you can stop now.
Why isn't the witch king in the gwp???
What confuses me is that most of us don't see how bad this set and the GWP are, just in general...
I’m holding off on Rivendell for Double Points. I can understand why some might hold off for a GWP, but most GWP aren’t that great, so it’s not much of a motivating factor for me.
At the end, one GWP is better than non GWP.
But expecting something like that as a GWP for a $460 set that is exclusive to a 7 day window is too much and would be unfortunate for fans who are choosing to save their money until they can afford Barad Dur (myself included)
Great video, and a good wake up call to Lego fans!
The disappointment about this is that the Fell Beast looks unrecognisable, its a pretty poor effort
I’m sad that i cant get the gwp because it only lasts for a week. I need more time to save up
You nailed it in this video!
It's the internet age :D
I rarely buy sets on day one, but this time will do it because of the GWP. The only other time I did it was for Gringotts.
What triggers me is a GWP that integrates well with the set and that I feel brings some additional value.
Complaining about a gift with purchase is like complaining about a comic con exclusive
Lego fan: A limited time set that will have exclusive minifigures how could they!!!
Also Lego fan: Sure I’ll pay a few hundred dollars to go to an event just to get this exclusive minifigure
Make it make sense
Good point. If we're not enjoying the Lego, then what's the point?
@@buildingtogether4171 also the rumors were just rumors. Maybe we should put less stock in them.
I mean personally I like the fell beast gwp just wish there was an actual small set with a better build or something
Im just pissed that im gonna have to spend 200 dollars for this once im able to afford barad dur in 2 years
It's just people being people, they only focus on the negative
As a ravenous LEGO LOTR fan I can say I was disappointed after being let down by the rumors. The more the better. However I am still happy with the Fell Beast. It could be a lot worse.. they could have given brickheads as the promo again like Rivendell.
We just need a full theme revival with small sets.
We would absolutely love a full theme revival!
Hachiroku24’s fell beast and Ringwraith looks way better! Plus it’s cheaper, now that the official GWP is going for crazy amounts online!
I guess I see them as a nice little bonus now and again.
there was a fell beast lego ideas idea made 11 years ago, this one was awesome
I don't recall a specific rivendell gift with purchase but I do think the nazgul should be it's own set since they were "the nine" and I'm not going to buy nine barad due sets or pay some ridiculous price for eight more of those sets
I was hyped for Sauron minifigure but after seeing his mace is just 3 bricks I won't buy it. I hoped for new molds like in Rivendell sets
Only people upset are the folks who are gonna buy this June 1st-7th. I am honestly really glad it's not that great gwp
I think it's a happy medium. It's a cool enough day 1 buy gwp but not a must buy day 1 gwp for those with fomo imo. I will be buying day 1 lol
Without the GWP I would have bought this next year or whenever it’s on sale. Instead I’m buying day 1
If the gwp included Theoden, Eowyn and the Witch King the resellers would have cashed in bigger.🤠
Dont go for a gwp if you dont like it. Dungeons and dragons had a cool one. Harry's gringots bank gwp also was nice . The fellbeast is ok but i will wait till 2x points 😅
Best GWP gotta be the Charles Dickens one
Is GWP for Insider members only or is it also available for who is going to buy the set in physical stores?
I didn’t know about the rumors for this gwp. I think the original 2012 Nazgul minifigure is way better than this one with its unique cape and torso.
Witch King will be a GWP of the Minas Tirith set coming out in 2025.. he was not part of the Barad Dur tower.
Forget about the GWP tell us about your run 😂
I was hoping it look better. The fig is fine but the beast seems lacking. Wings are nice but the body is just wrong
while i wasn't buying this. i expect atleast 1 exclusive minifigure. to me this is a box of worthless parts. and the only thing there is the fabric wings
@@jacobe1942 wow! Where did you see that deep of a sale? Might have to be on the lookout this year!
@@henrywarmoth1792 yeah you should before he gets too expensive... or try to use some of the methods to pick his box. its not too difficult.
I only got it because of the free gift or I would've gotten rivendale.
It looks good, tower and gwp. But i can see this at 350 on sale
Most buyers didn't even get the GWP one hour after the set was sold for the first time as there weren't many to go around 🤪! Lego 💩🤮👎!
This Lego is not really amazing... I've done better myself and the Nazgul could have been a new one like the witche king of Angmar ! That's why I'm disappointed! The Barad Dur's set is so amazing on the other hand!
I don’t really care that it’s only one fig but this gwp is very bad looking and not a big fan of this version of ring wraith. Will prob just sell it
I think for me I was hoping for three figures because all of the leaks ( which very little are wrong) had three figs in it. I though that was insane but great. The thing with the fell beast that we is this. The head sucks. I’m a fan of the figure. Not a fan of the head it just looks too plain. The wings look amazing with a great design but I wished they had used different wings so that we could’ve had different printed pieces like for the head.
