Hey all! I just built this golf app where you can get exclusive lessons from the world's greatest golf coaches. It's been the biggest game changer to helping me improve, and wanted everyone to be able to do the same. Check it out here! caddyai.io/
Thank you so much! That mean's the world to me. I'm just trying to provide the highest quality, the most entertaining, and the most useful golf content on UA-cam! :)
Derek is a legend. He gave me a 5 min putting lesson on the practice green at the Farms one day and I had no idea who he was, just thought he was my dads friend / a member at the club and a good putter… come to find out he coaches PGA players… INCREDIBLE knowledge thanks for sharing!
I agree with everyone here. This is the real secret stuff nobody talks about! Not only is it simple an easy to understand but works! Altogether I shaved 4 strokes in a week. Nothing fancy. This is perfect Jerome. Never seen anything like it. You really helped me. Could never have gained this insight without your channel. Hope you become a UA-cam sensation Thank you!
This man in good coach for real. I went to the course today morning to quickly try the putting grip technique...insanely accurate. Its shocking how much l have really been messing up. Direction, weight control with that grip is so easy to get. Now l am going for the speed training part...and try spending two thirds of my range time on putting.
When I first started playing, my grandpa told me, practice 150yds and in for 90% of your time. I have made my goal breaking into the 60's and this vid is pure gold. Been using Aimpoint since Mark Sweeney came out with it and now that I have Xander's coach on UA-cam giving cheat codes!!!!!! Bruh, nothing but shaved (saved) strokes ahead. I practice putting all winter long but this is my new routine. Good stuff Jerome.
Without question the best putting instruction video I have ever seen. I took nearly 2 years off of golf due personal challenges. This refreser was much needed.
@@MrSpanky2001 Mrs. Panky you obviously are frustrated because your husband is ignoring you. Get a new hobby like sewing or knitting and stop trolling.
Hands down the best putting video I've watched. Going from the grip, through alignment and the stroke. Must watch for anyone who thinks they're a good putter.
This is the best thing anyone could ever do about learning how to play golf. Find the best teachers and stick with them. If you continue to do what you're doing you will be breaking 80 next spring. Thank you for taking us along on your journey these lessons are incredible!!!!
Can we get a petition going to get that coach to release his catalog of tiger going back to '95, please? At least some part of it... He's sitting on a gold mine and just telling us he has it. We, the viewers, might not know what to do with the information from those videos without a trained eye to interpret and express the subtle nuances to us but I'm sure we could all appreciate the elegance of the motion.
His best year was 2000 and it's on UA-cam. Why copy a Tiger swing other than his peak year in 2000. Just my opinion. Sorry for hating, I just would hate for you to waste your time Butler.
Respectfully, I just feel strongly about this year of Tigers career because numbers don't lie. I'm going to backpedal now and say I'd probably watch the footage if it's available because I've seen most of Tiger that's available lol.
Hi Jerome, seriously this video has struck so many chords with me, it is first class. I would say easily one of the best instructional videos I have seen here on YT. Thank you brother
Well done sir for being an excellent student with a first class teacher (worked with Tiger at his best!). Some diamond tips there and you listened well. Some UA-cam clips have the student making unnecessary comments. I'm sure you got a lot of great advice to move your game forward. My confidence on the greens has been improved after watching this. Thanks for posting and good luck with your respective golfing and coaching careers.
great lesson , great content . If I may make a suggestion - (PGA life member retired) - probably taught as much as your guy here - who was fantastic BTW. Try to lose the self deprecation after every time a question is asked or a point is made. Its a distraction and total waste of time and energy it only takes away from what you and the fellow helping you are trying to do. believe me it is common -but you won't see a good player ever do it. Your just starting out so it is a great habit to build right now
And genuinely listen while being talked to instead of all of the “Got it”s, “Uh huh”s, and “Yeah”s. Makes it appear that you are not really trying to understand the wisdom being shared with you.
Wow! No, really - WOW!! Derek U. Is an incredible teacher. His instruction is simple, to the point and practical. Why can't all golf instructors be like this? I'm off now to video #2
I followed the video and picked up the upper arms against the rib cage and practised and could feel the difference. I have been averaging 4-6 3 putts and shoot 79 -83. I am 78. I cannot wait to try on the golf course at Forest Oaks, N.C. in 2 days. I feel confident I will finally shoot my age. Really felt the stabilityy with the setup. Thanks.
This is extremely helpful and explained in a way that, as many note, understandable. Not common knowledge or taught in this manner. New subscriber and look forward to more.
DUDE YOUR VIDEOS HELPED ME BREAK 100 Specifically this video and your short game video where the coach talked about taking a step into the chip( and you learned that cool way to pick up balls with wedges) Shot a 99 today and am buzzing after a previous best of 110 THANKS MAN
Thanks for sharing. Loved this lesson. Wish it wasn’t so late I would be out putting. But did do the back into table drill for starters. 😊 Thanks again.
Excellent instruction. I feel or do some of, albeit it slightly differently, but for the most part it’s the same with different words. And, then there’s the things I’ve never heard of that I can’t wait to try!
I have been a long devotee of golf (30 yrs. ish...? and hold a single digit handicap. I have been searching for help with my putting as i 3 putt usually twice a round. This particular video is giving me some simple tools to go and re-work the grip and posture and see how it works. While i dont have a quintic, i do have a gc quad and i am going to see the difference it actually makes for a stable path. Can't wait and best of luck on your journey!
I am quite pleased to learn that my RHLE cross dominance is actually an advantage for something. Mostly it's just been obnoxious for long gun shooting.
Def check out the channel a lot of more putting videos with Derek and he will be with me for the long term :) so if not followed up there will def be in future videos!!
So I am going to be "THAT GUY" for a brief moment.... @31:20 Derek uses the hypothetical approach of putting as three independent variations from a Physics standpoint. Here's the recap: Scenario 1 - You are driving in your car with the gas pedal engaged(Though Derek did mention velocity gained in mass, no clear point was illustrated to Jerome how mass and weight differ with respect to the rate of speed at which the vehicle was traveling to clarify his analogy but rather stayed stuck on the biased principal that the car, from the observer's perspective, was in fact increasing the velocity through the combustion of oxygen/fuel being injected into the bored piston cylinders which is either aided by a catalyst**Spark Plug**, or through valve pressure**The type of combustion found in diesel motors) and also leaves the audience to think there is no gain in acceleration, achieving only a steady speed rate of 30mph and you hit the wall. Derek does mention he is **Slamming** his foot to the gas pedal but poorly and inadequately demonstrates the relativity. The take away is that the putter, such as the vehicle, traveling at 30 mph relative to the observer and also the one putting, should mitigate diverging marginal errors that are greater favoring one side to the other. Scenario 2 - You are driving in your car with the brake pedal engaged with no gain in acceleration, impacting the wall at a rate of speed equal to 30mph. And this is based on the premise that the vehicle is slowing down(braking) from a greater speed to the lesser 30mph. Scenario 3 - You are driving in your car, and neither the gas pedal nor the brake pedal are engaged with no gain or loss in acceleration. At a cruising speed of 30mph your car will crash into a wall at 30mph. Here is what is important, and this is coming from someone that studied computer science/physics/& astrophysics..... So Derek has the right idea, but one law of nature...actually known as one part in the 'Universal Laws of Nature', gravity on earth has the same effect and plays a significant role in each of the 3 scenarios whether you compare or interchange mass and weight. And that is this; for every action there is a positive and negative reaction. The laws of physics, when applied to Derek's analogy, will show that hitting a wall a 30 mph in acceleration, braking, and cruising speed will all have the exact outcome in regards to the object(s) at rest inside the vehicle respective to those onlooking as observers. Just as light has a universally standard accepted rate of speed, so too does an object of any given mass or weight traveling at the same 30mph upon coming to an abrupt stop once it impacts a wall. To better clarify Derek's analogy I'll just say this; tis better to have your balls closer together rather than for them to be tugged apart in opposing directional forces. Keep the divergence closer to center and your putting will in time trend towards a greater make to break ratio. Never let your balls out of your sight for too long and surely never wack them too hard. That part is no fun for anyone!! Cheers.
On a more serious note, the mass of the putter has no greater effect than the putter's weight (the club, not the person putting). The mass of the putter could be as large as the moon, but if it only weighs 3 1/2lbs. in total then, as long as you make contact with the ball via the putter club face, it makes no difference whether you are accelerating the putter to 10mph at point of initial contact, braking from 30mph down to 10mph at initial contact, or have a continuous rate of speed from the moment the putter advances in directional motion towards the ball. 10 mph is 10mph no matter the way in whichever scenario plays out. I could swing my putter 100mph but if by the time it makes contact with the ball it is only moving at a rate of 10mph then the outcome will still be the same. This applies to any club in the bag. And you don't have to take my word for it. Just take a basic class on physics, learn and understand the fundamental laws that govern our natural world and the universe it occupies and you will then comprehend extensively my point. Physics is to the natural laws that govern your overall outcome over 18 holes as peanut butter and jelly is to two slices of bread.
I am the typical amataure golfer who goes on the driving range for a warm up before a game. But after watching this my time is definitely going to be on the putting green.
Been on my way to scratch myself so ive been quitely following. Im at a 5.6 right now last week was 75, 77, 79 twice. And its crazy everything else has been on autotune but my putting. Yesterday i added 3 strokes. Par 4 285 yards drove to 4 feet missed the eagle putt. Par 3 165 even closer probably 3 feet miss the birdie putt and it goes off the slope down about 12 feet miss the par putt. Hopefully watching this can save my putter from going into the water or getting broken in half
I practiced the grip, stance and elbows glued to my chest for several weeks. Today I shot my best score ever (by a lot) and had ZERO 3-putts. My putting stats ‘shots gained’ vs my handicap target went from several shots in the negative, to +3.2. This putting advice is HUGE and worth practicing.
Dude, the easiest way to improve putting is to draw the lines on the ball! What a tip! I'm still kind of slow at lining the ball up but I do it when everyone else is putting. I had 13 putts yesterday with 5 one putts! Just missed a couple long birdie putts. I find when I stand over the ball ready to putt, it looks like I'm aimed too far left. So I used to adjust my aim after getting over the ball. No more! Now I line it up from behind. Line up putter to ball and stroke it. The lines on the ball improve your putting stroke too. What a tip! I'm on a 21 hole streak with no 3 putts. Let's go!
Hello Derek. Thanks for your instruction. I noticed on greens that were particularly fast, the ball skids at first and does not have the friction to roll end over end, for a couple of inches. My mates agreed. What we could not agree was on sidespin. The putter can be open or closed, which makes the ball go those ways. Our question is can you put sidespin on ball when putting, different from topspin or underspin? Thank you in anticipation.
