I feel like Danny Maude is one of the very few pros who actually want you to get better. Shawn Clement is another. Rather than put 1000 different thoughts in your head by showing numbers and percentages, he demonstrates in a very clear manner, what your body needs to be doing. The emphasis is always on motion and position rather than numbers and graphs and percentages. Thanks Danny.
I don't have a lot of proof but I feel like Alex Elliot is another. Breaks things down to be simple and logical, helps you see what you should to do what he's saying without all the bells and whistles so to speak.
A masterclass, thank you. No less a golfer than Gary Player said that if he was playing with a 14 handicap golfer but he took all the shots from inside 100 yards, the handicap would drop to 3. You just showed why.
Gary Player didn't ship very often off the green he would do a bump and run with a 5 iron, I believe. It's a fun fact I found out about a couple weeks ago when I watched a special on him.
My goal is to "think 2" inside 100 yards. When I am able to do this two things happen. 1. I put less pressure on my putting when I hit the green. 2. Be more aggressive with my chips. This is the key instructions for me to make #2 more consistent.

At the age of 65, I've been golfing since I was 5. My home course as a teen on the high school team living in Springfield, NJ was Baltusrol. With the reverse aging protocols that I consistently live by, I am able to maintain a +0.4 handicap from about a 6500 yard track (8-iron = 170 yards with no wind). The right elbow advice pointing out, which is something that I've mostly been doing unconsciously, is genius: so simple! And now that I'm conscious of it, look out! In addition, the water splashing concept makes so much sense from a practical standpoint. The other video that I watched, "What Nobody Tells You About Chipping Onto The Green," was also a gem, especially with the "under the table" concept. Thank you! Looking forward to more incredible nuggets of wisdom from your videos...
@@DanielMaude Instant results!!! So, as I mentioned, I watched only 3 videos yesterday: "chipping under the table," "core usage, splashing kids, and elbow out (which I used successfully in both chipping and putting as well)," and "using gravity pitching from 50 yards." I left early to have an hour or so to practice and somewhat incorporate these nuggets of golf mastery. Here's what happened: on the front 9, I hit all 7 fairways off the tee on the par 4s and 5s with a 240 yard average carry (= driver circles were very precise and powerful), I hit 6 greens in regulation, the 3 others I got up and down for pars, sand was never close to being a factor, my average putting length was only about 15 feet, and I was pretty easily able to shoot even par 36 from the blue tees playing longer than the 3273 yards on the score card (with the wet Florida ground). On our way to the back 9, the lightning warning cancelled golf for the rest of the day, but I am extremely pleased at these instant results that are only going to get more fine-tuned with continued practice and play. The round also included a 135 yard PW to 15 feet, two gap wedge shots from 122 yards each to 20 and 5 feet respectively, a 190 yard 7-iron to 40 feet which I then putted to within 1 foot, another 184 yard 7-iron to just off the green which I got to 3 feet with my 52-degree wedge from just off the green, and a 153 yard PW to 12 feet! Thank you!!! I will eagerly be purchasing your programs to learn more...
finally someone who actually explains what bounce is. almost every youtube video I see, they just say "its the bottom on the wedge" which doesn't help me understand anything. this guy actually explains and shows you. subbed
I have been using the rhythm/tempo technique from your chipping video two weeks ago and it has really made a difference. Not only are the results better, but my playing partners compliment how smooth and effortless the shot looks. And it's all thanks to you.
I learned something on this one... Great detail. Can't wait for the snow to melt so I can use this info. Wish i had youtube and access to this when I started playing 35 years ago. Golf is one sport where learning the basics is key to low scores. Thanks Danny you are a great teacher.
This is pure gold fellow golfers. I even ignore the ball entirely and focus a spot on the ground about a ball's width behind and SLIDE the bounce along the ground. It's so easy, even I can do it
This is by far the best explanation I have ever seen! Going to the driving range this morning and trying it. I’m a 7 HC. Thank you sir as always! (Chicago, IL)
Thank you so much for that. I play off 13.6 and have been down to 10 before WHI. This has always been the weakest part of my game and something I have had many lessons on. What you explained really clicked with me and have just played my best round of golf. Fully understanding the bounce and why it impacts has been so helpful. Thanks Danny.
Wow Danny, this is the best yet. You summarized all the things I do wrong that has lead to the chipping yips (I have been suffering for over 5 years). I am going to work on using the bounce correctly. Thanks for the best ever tips. Tee to green I am decent-probably a 7 handicap. pitching and chipping a 20. I can see where this is really going to help. Thanks again for being a Coach that dumbs it down so we can understand it.
First video of this fellow I've watched but I was very impressed with how clear and distinct he was - giving a simple but effective idea such as "...like you're swinging under the breakfast table" is something that is easy to remember and a nice little mental container for me to carry the rest of the tips he gave. I rarely comment on anything but I really found this helpful.
You are a genius in explaining the relationship between “how” and “why”. The “why” helps me remember the “how’. Example from driver’s ed from 45 years ago that still sticks: accelerate when you change lanes because the distance traveled at an angle to maintain forward position is longer.
Danny, I’m back to the game after 30 years. I just want to say what great videos you do. Excellent work. Fantastic graphics, language and tempo. Thank you!
Danny, I lost the full use of one eye several years ago and have struggled with chipping ever since. Your visualization of keeping the club "under the breakfast table" has helped me immensely with striking the ball crisply again. It just seems easier to find the bottom of my arc. Thanks!
Excellent tips. I am still a 16 handicapper but have improved greatly over the last yr from tips from your videos. While I still struggle to find the center strikes on my full shots I’ve dropped many strokes per round by course management and my around the green chipping. Your videos are great for all ages and skill level because they’re so easy to understand
This has really helped me massively. Played this morning and employed these tips. Didn’t blade or duff one chip shot with my 64 or 60 degree wedges. Oh and I broke my personal best on my local course. Fantastic
I have been “working with you” on my chipping and short game and it has massively improved. In the last month my handicap has gone dow 2 strokes! 11:18
Definitely going to rewatch the one from a couple of weeks ago and this one again. A real problem area for me. Absolute classic case of one shot falling short of the green and the next one skittering across the green and off the other side. Thank you.
Agree completely with the rave reviews you've gotten. After stumbling on your chipping video, there's nobody else I've watched that compares. Just what I needed with detailed explanations that make remembering easier when you understand the why.
As always Danny breaks it down and explains the 'why' Truly a fantastic coach and brilliant at understanding human movement - at least in a golfing sense. Great job Danny!
So delighted for you Danny in reaching 900K subscribers. You absolutely SMASH every video you make. This one is pure GOLD. I will be heading to the practice area later to work on my bounce!! Thank you sooo much for all your generosity and wisdom every week.
Love this! Using the stroke I have had two chip-in pars during my last 18 holes and have chipped in two more on the practice green. It's so easy and accurate!
This is really the best chipping drill. Brought my golf clubs during my recent trip to Vegas and followed your drill. It really made a huge difference!! Thank you so much!! Regards from Alberta, Canada. ❤
Another great video Danny, thank you. This is the weakest part of my game, having a tendency to shank my chips, because I take the club back inwards too much. Us amateurs can save so many shots by getting this element of the game right. Please keep up the great content.

Danny, this is great. Lots of practice with this will make a massive difference im sure. Love your lesson plans and your teaching methods and manner. Phrases like, 'really simple' 'watch this' only coach I listen to and watch out of those available on the web. Thanks Danny.
Amazing explanation. Been playing off and on for 40 years and never knew what a bump was, I just knew I was a pretty good chipper. Gonna try this this weekend.

Danny, Was just talking to my friend in NZ who has parred a hole for the very 1st time using your teaching methods...and as for me you've improved my game immensely However as we're both in advanced age like your Dad unfortunately both myself and my friend have injured ourselves using your new swing techniques .and I myself have been laid up with sciatic issues since your last video. The words " This is all Danny's Fault" will now become part of golfing lexicon down under ..in Australia and NZ. You have a lot to answer for young man 😁
Hi Danny, thank you for all your great videos that I find all very helpful. I would have the following questions to this one: 1. do you adjust your aiming to reflect the changed lie of the club? 2. If standing on a upward slope as in your video, do you need to adjust your setup and maintain the bounce with regard to the slope rather than to the horizontal plane? 3. How does the advice regarding the movement and the end position of the shaft fits to the other advice you gave in another video of yours explaining that the shaft end should be moving along an "L" curve? Thank you from the Czech Republic!
I’ll be taking those tips out on the course next week. Think this is main reason for m leaving loads of shots out there. Great explanation. Cheers Danny
Hi Danny, To me you just have shown the reason for a ChipR from Ping or other brands. It just plain gets you in the right positions for chipping with good bounce on the club, plus head weight. This may cause a stir but to me is true. I use a ChipR from about 120 yards and in depending on where the ball position is. I use my wedges just in those odd situations say like in the sand traps or large up or down slope lie's and or thick rough. Honestly, yes that is what wedges are designed for but for someone who doesnt want keep changing clubs the ChipR style clubs can sure help you out keeping your posture and positions and swing correct for your shots like you have shown here.
@@DanielMaude Thank you for the reply, you are one of the few that actually do. I agee with you, and I do believe more to them with learning the club just like the rest of the wedges 😁 Thank you so much for your tips and lessons! They are so valid and help so many!
Hi Danny, have taken your last three lessons with me on course with great success. I'm playing tomorrow so I'll adopt this weeks tips. I've been wanting the Callaway wedges for a long time but being a leftie they are hard to find. Take care and as always thank you Danny
Danny, congratulations on 900,000 subscribers. That is an awesome achievement. Your easy to understand teaching style and your enthusiasm comes through on every video. I am looking forward to chipping like you demonstrated later this morning.
Great tips...I now know all the "don't do's" that I do, so now l will practice the "do's" that I don't do! Fingers crossed there may be 3-5 shots to be saved in the not too distant future. Thanks Danny.
Great stuff Danny. I have been doing most of what you have said but it still wasn’t working. After watching this I realised I was leaning the club forward. Yesterday in my round I kept the club upright and suddenly there was the improvement. I know I need to practice but thank you for this. Cheers Kevin
Hi Danny, Thank You for the great videos! I'm working on ball strike mechanics, etc. Just wondering how important a full over the shoulder follow thru swing is? Is that portion of my stroke more for "style points" or is it something I should give attention to? Thanks Pete
Thanks so much for supporting the channel Pete. It’s not necessary to have a full over the shoulder follow through but I would be asking what’s stopping it short. I would question whether the student is steering the club as opposed to truly letting go
What a great video Danny. I'm going to sort my chipping out this season for sure. Its been holding me back my whole golfing career. I'm going out every night with your last two chipping video's as soon as the days pull out until i nail it. Thanks as always and have a great weekend
Great drill as always. A version of this drill I do most every day - "engaging" the bounce of the wedges around the yard. Even have some bare spots that one would call "ultra tight lies". Also your bonus #2 to use an iron instead of a wedge is one of my fave go to's. I tend to use the 8i as it closely mimics my friends' chippers at 36deg. Still the key is to not be afraid to figure out what is the best club - even if its not a flop shot wedge but maybe even a hybrid to bump and run the ball to the hole...
Fantastic lesson Danny!I have been struggling with shanking my lob wedge around the green!II took this lesson up to the practice area here in not so sunny Spain .Hit 60 ,never shanked one. Many thanks Danny, you are a marvel.
Excellent video. Reinforces so much of what I've been working on. In fact, after much trial and error, I have settled on my 50 degree and 9-iron as my standard chipping irons. But what I've also practiced and learned -- maybe you could address this in a future video -- is not making the hole my target but some point between me and the hole. Choosing a spot 1/3 of the way to the hole for fast greens and longer chips with the 9-iron, for example, or half way to the hole with the 50 degree for shorter chips on level or downhill shots, for example. I don't always get the intended result but my success rate is higher than focusing on the hole.
@@DanielMaude Hi Danny. My practice session went really well and I was positive going into my Sunday morning match play. But absolutely struggled once again to transfer that to the course. It’s really starting to get to me now. Can you give me any advice about transferring my practice sessions onto the course please 🙏🙏
Started practising my chipping after a lesson last year with alot of hrs and 52 degree from all around the greens and distance control my short game has came on immensely few things I will take from this video an implement them into my game cheers again danny
Thanks Danny. Excited to use this next time to recover my short game from the trash. I learned how to play golf on a par 3 course and as a consequence got exceptional with my chipping. One day I went to a driving range that had rubber tees; hitting my short irons off the rubber tees. In one day my short game was destroyed. Would always top (thin) my chip shots. Extremely frustrating. No matter what I did to try and correct it-- nothing worked. I will let you know.
I saw a pro level player T off with his wedge and land the ball inside a metre of the pennant. Mission now to learn what my clubs are capable of. Yes i was always thin on my chipping. Thanks Danny
Watched this and immediately went outside to chip. Feels a bit unnatural compared to what I’m used to, but the ball flight is MARKEDLY better! Also was able to open the face and do a flop shot. That inversing the hands at setup to get the shoulders right was amazingly beneficial
Really well explained Danny - another great lesson. I really like the way you simplify things and break techniques down in manageable chunks ( no pun intended ).

Hope it helps John
Hi Danny, thank you for all your great videos that I find all very helpful.
I would have the following questions to this one:
1. do you adjust your aiming to reflect the changed lie of the club?
You know Danny. It's just nice to have someone like you to help us get better at this game called golf. It is much appreciated 🖐🖐
I’ll be taking those tips out on the course next week. Think this is main reason for m leaving loads of shots out there. Great explanation. Cheers Danny
Love to hear how you get on Rob
I think they are a great club for the chip and run
@@DanielMaude Thank you for the reply, you are one of the few that actually do. I agee with you, and I do believe more to them with learning the club just like the rest of the wedges 😁 Thank you so much for your tips and lessons! They are so valid and help so many!
Thank you Danny great teaching great visual aids.
Pleasure Stephen
This is Legendary teaching! 🔥
Can't wait to practice. 🎯
Have fun
One of the best chipping videos that's helped me. Thanks!
I really, really like your style of teaching..and you have just enough accent to make it sound even more special..;))))
Hi Danny, have taken your last three lessons with me on course with great success. I'm playing tomorrow so I'll adopt this weeks tips. I've been wanting the Callaway wedges for a long time but being a leftie they are hard to find. Take care and as always thank you Danny
All the best Matt
Thanks for the great review. I continue to work on this.
Awesome video. Thank you so much for all of your advice/pro tips.
You are very welcome Brian
Danny, congratulations on 900,000 subscribers. That is an awesome achievement. Your easy to understand teaching style and your enthusiasm comes through on every video. I am looking forward to chipping like you demonstrated later this morning.
Thanks so much Bill for supporting me for what it seems like years. Really do appreciate it
What a great explanation of what the bounce is and using it. You're the best Danny.
Happy to help Chip
Great tips...I now know all the "don't do's" that I do, so now l will practice the "do's" that I don't do! Fingers crossed there may be 3-5 shots to be saved in the not too distant future. Thanks Danny.
Love to hear how you get on Jonathan
Great stuff Danny. I have been doing most of what you have said but it still wasn’t working. After watching this I realised I was leaning the club forward. Yesterday in my round I kept the club upright and suddenly there was the improvement. I know I need to practice but thank you for this. Cheers Kevin
Glad it helped Kevin
I don’t believe I have even heard instructions clearly than you! I am getting every explanation to playing better golf! Thank you Danny!
Really happy to help David
Planning on creating a full series to cover all the shots
@@DanielMaude brilliant, can't wait
Fantastic. Did this today and it worked like a charm! Thanks!
great tips and yes it has improved my short game - thank you
No problem Adrian 😁
I've chipped old school for many years,hands forward,shaft lean.Will try this.Great video.
Thank you Willie 😁
Fantastic lesson Danny!I have been struggling with shanking my lob wedge around the green!II took this lesson up to the practice area here in not so sunny Spain .Hit 60 ,never shanked one. Many thanks Danny, you are a marvel.
Amazing to hear Dougie well done
thank you for bonus tip 2 Danny it stopped me asking about chipping with irons rather than wedges.
Great content
No problem Gary, happy to help
Thanks
Thank you Philip 😁
Sounds like a great strategy David
Bonus tip #2 is great! Have to use the correct club
Absolutely 👌
I have been struggling with this shot for some time now. So this video is like a shot in arm for me. I will take these tips to the rang. Thanks Danny.
Love to hear how you get on Gary
@@DanielMaude Hi Danny. My practice session went really well and I was positive going into my Sunday morning match play. But absolutely struggled once again to transfer that to the course. It’s really starting to get to me now. Can you give me any advice about transferring my practice sessions onto the course please 🙏🙏
Super Thanks coming your Way! Excellent Video's and you're the only guy I trust with my Golfing Tips!
Started practising my chipping after a lesson last year with alot of hrs and 52 degree from all around the greens and distance control my short game has came on immensely few things I will take from this video an implement them into my game cheers again danny
Hi Danny , thank you so much for the chipping refresher course ! With the help of your videos my life around the greens is so much easier. : )
Great to hear Eva, thanks for taking the time to share
Great video, love your enthusiasm and knowledge of the game
Much appreciated Jack
Thanks Danny. Excited to use this next time to recover my short game from the trash. I learned how to play golf on a par 3 course and as a consequence got exceptional with my chipping. One day I went to a driving range that had rubber tees; hitting my short irons off the rubber tees. In one day my short game was destroyed. Would always top (thin) my chip shots. Extremely frustrating. No matter what I did to try and correct it-- nothing worked. I will let you know.
Simple and easy. I enjoyed the lesson and could immediately implement some changes
Great information and explanation of the swing…much appreciated!!!
Really hope it helps Shawn
I saw a pro level player T off with his wedge and land the ball inside a metre of the pennant.
Mission now to learn what my clubs are capable of.
Yes i was always thin on my chipping.
Thanks Danny
Nice one Danny. Especially liked the tip on placing and then swapping the hands. Cheers
Pleasure David, all the best
Watched this and immediately went outside to chip. Feels a bit unnatural compared to what I’m used to, but the ball flight is MARKEDLY better! Also was able to open the face and do a flop shot. That inversing the hands at setup to get the shoulders right was amazingly beneficial
wonderful to hear, thanks for taking the time to share
Best teaching ever! Thanks Danny. Awesome, you cracked 900K! Congrats 🎉
Thanks Rick, it’s been an awesome journey so far
Another excellent short game video. TYVM Danny!
Glad you enjoyed it Gary
Golfing gold. The theory is amazing. Thanks Danny.
All the best Jon
Really well explained Danny - another great lesson. I really like the way you simplify things and break techniques down in manageable chunks ( no pun intended ).
