Michael Knowles REACTS to the New iPad Commercial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 чер 2024
- Apple CEO Tim Cook posted an advertisement for the new iPad, and it's creepy. Apple thought that it was really cool that we don't need stuff anymore. We live in an incarnate world, so we do need all of that stuff.

I get the concept of the commercial and why they thought it would make the iPad look cool, but seeing all of those things shatter makes you realize-they're right. iPads don't just condense everything, they also ruin it in the process.

"it's all in the iPad.... unless your internet goes down, then you have a nice doorstop"
Touché!
The new one, is too thin, not even a useful doorstop, in that scenario.
Or until Apple locks your elderly mom's iPhone's Apple ID account for no reason and it takes weeks to get it fixed.
It feels incredibly dystopian
It's not in the slightest dystopian.
@@The_Novu how do you figure?
Double-plus true!
Smashing all the things you like or love into one incredibly thin device is dystopian? I guess your view of dystopia is waaaaaay less traumatic than mine.
Not even in the slightest lmao
I’m a musician who plays every musical instrument that was crushed in that commercial, the level of sacrilege is insane
Same, (besides guitar) that was wrong in every way, and hurt to watch.
Honestly, crushing the instruments is a more humane thing to do than allow them in the hands of people such as myself... I once tried to play a power cord on my guitar, and my guitar wept.
It's CGI lol
@BurgundyRose1980 the fact people think they stacked all that stuff up and recorded it being crushed like it was is silly.
You can’t be this dumb. It’s CGI.
Honestly, I’ve been buying DVDs because I don’t want a company controlling what I can and cannot watch. It’s expensive, but by the time I get ALL the subscriptions for each show I want to watch, it’ll be cheaper.
I'm a big blu-ray guy but honestly they just suck. Digital is better. I am so tired to BRAND NEW discs stuttering and freezing.
@@Richard_Bumblebee That is more likely a player issue than a disc issue.
Do you have any idea what torrents are? No one can keep you from watching anything.
@The_Novu he probably does but like any closet pirate they'll always say they use legit means 😂
I've also started buying DVD/Blur-Rays. I have on online video library but companies like Disney can replace those movies with "updated" ones.
Not gonna lie, I miss when computers didnt do EVERYTHING. I will not accept that they are a replacement for everything either.
I think some companies have made paper-like tablets that do just note-taking and reading and highlighting of ebooks and docs
Why do you use outdated useless phrases like, "Not gonna lie"? If you're not lying, then you would be sincere and honest and not begin sentences with a disclaimer about not lying.
I miss when there wasn't Google. It's bizarre to me that you can ask any question now and get an answer. There is much more to this subject but I'll stop now.
Not gonna lie is not outdated@@riproar11
This could've been good if they showed all the stuff sort of cartoonishly compressing itself down, without actually being destroyed, until it got to the end to reveal that all that art and beauty had not been destroyed but merely compressed into a sleek and capable piece of tech. The way they displayed it in reality though was quite grim! Like all the beautiful art is destroyed, but the iPad remains, it's not the best look. It was a creative ad that could've been great with a minor shift, but the idea that all that WAS is detroyed to make way for all that is NEW is indeed creepy!
Well, the ideology in that ad is even deeper than that; crush everything that makes our civilization, music, art, thought, history, customs, etc., etc., and let's make it a new in the image and likeness of our trans-humanist ideology .. the dissolution of everything into a big rainbow and its transfiguration into a mechanical device as the final symbol of the transmuted human soul ..
Nailed it
Nope
Objectively incorrect. Comments like these are what happens when you look for something that isn’t there
What is bro on about
This! Yessss!
"It has everything you need"? Meet your new God. Yikes.
i thought it was a pretty creative way to show how thin it is
Its also 'stating' we've compressed everything into one 'unit' ..
@@mamanoneyall51 it wasn’t compressed though. The equipment exploded into bits and pieces everywhere. Part of the message was very clearly focused on destruction.
@@mamanoneyall51
I think they could've conveyed the message better if all the stuff wasn't destroyed, but was cartoonishly compressed until it became an iPad. The way it was presented, seemed more like all the old stuff was destroyed until all that remained was the new iPad, which is a pretty dark message. They almost had a cool ad, but the death of art will never be appealing!
So thin that people could easily snap it half like it’s a potato chip.
@@sethfeldpausch4337yall are really overthinking this lol
It's funny because in a rare turn of events, Apple actually APOLOGIZED for this commercial! 🤯
So you take everything in the old culture, toss it underneath a giant pressing machine crush, smash, and break it all. Then magically it's built back better into a new iPad Pro. So kids, what have we learned?
Marketing departments are clearly hiring DEI people?
I thought the leftists were butthurt by everything on the media, but oh boy, does this comment section prove to me yall rightists are the snowflakes. Really, an ad???
No they didn’t imply you don’t need it. They implied all that is in one iPad. They just showed it visually. Even though I hate seeing instruments crushed like that
It was probably cgi
That's what I got out of it and I hate apple.
I agree with the premise being that it was a visual representation of all of those things in the iPad.
So you think in no way did the violent destruction of all those items had any implied meaning?
Why then destroy what is needed? In that destruction what is implied is a Zero-sum game ..
It’s I a perfect AD showing how they have ruined culture and everything we care about
I thought it was saying “everything you need is in this”
They even know what I need? 😂
@@nunmem2311I need some more cash
I took it as like a destruction of the past, they are better
I thought the leftists were butthurt by everything on the media, but oh boy, does this comment section prove to me yall rightists are the snowflakes. Really, an ad???
Yes that’s what they want the consumer to think it means. But the deeper subliminal message is a destruction of the past, the old world, and old orders.
I'm glad you're saying something about this "you will own nothing and enjoy it" ad, its such BS
It’s not saying “you will own nothing and enjoy it”, it’s literally asking you to buy and own their product.
Not only that: as an ipad user, i actually feel really ashamed using an ipad due to the idea of “ipad kids” and ipads being usually associated to children and such. It’s such a good device.
It's a child's device though 😂
@@deathbydeviceableit’s not actually, it’s really helpful for stuff like school
It is primarily targeted for kids and elderly for the " idiot proofness" of it😅
@@deathbydeviceableit might be marketed that way. It’s terrible for children. Just because someone markets heroine to a child doesn’t make heroin for children
@@IronD-12You must be super young. iPads are used across multiple creative industries, professionally.
I don't care because I don't buy apple's over-hyped overpriced products, but you have to admit it is a bit dystopian. Replace all your creativity with a screen to stare at.
Bravo Sir! Better words were never spoken.
That's not the message of the app
Naw, it’s not dystopian. You’re reading something that isn’t there, or is something that you’re looking for.
Their logo is literally a bite taken out of an apple. Their first computer was sold for 666.66 dollars. What do you think? 🤔
Relax dude, Wozniak is the one who set the price for the first Apple computer, and he was notoriously obsessed with repeating numbers. It was a 33.3% markup from their competitors computers.
You can’t be this dumb.
I think that those who’ve been diluted by religion will find BS meanings, numbers, and symbols everywhere they look
firstly, alb, wozniak is a known, avowed, and noted stnist.
secondly, wozniak lives in the stnism hub of the world (los gatos).
To me, the message was: all of those items, can be found in this Thin AF thing, which, btw, will survive a star wars style crush , 🍎
you are exactly the type of person We are warning about.
Apple and the advancement of the internet has destroyed everything that was good and creative in the world. It’s so sad watching it happen right in front of me.
Hi
I neeed all the books and instrument and pencil colours
I need every object except an ipad 😂
Playing on an ipad can never do for you what playing a physical instrument does. The hand-ear-eye coordination is just not there. The difficult finger movements for playing the guitar and the lung capacity for the trumpet. It will never be equivalent.
Can’t wait for the TwoSetViolin review of this commercial to come out 😂
Yes, very creative to show that all is condensed into one thin tablet now. Technology has certainly advanced, but kinda sad to see all that history outdistanced.
Especially wwhen said history and artistry is insulted to this degree,
The catch is that despite all those things being compressed into an iPad, it's a worse version of those things. Real musical instruments are better, real toys are better, real video games are better, even movies and TV are better experienced on a larger screen than on a tiny iPad.
Showing that iPad can do all that and more by crushing it into iPad is the most disrespectful way of sending the message to so many industries at once
Remember the elegance of the first couple iPad Air, MacBook Air commercials? They were great.
Apple could have kept everything on set the same, remove the press and reveal the iPad in a more thoughtful & creative way.
Do better APPLE!
I love my iPad Pro! It goes everywhere with me! But I also still love the feeling of spending hours in front of an easel, studying from a real art book, strumming my guitar, gardening. Being in the moment. Sometimes my easel is in my screen, but that doesn’t mean I want to replace the old. I think that it’s best to embrace the new to enhance the old. Like how a washing machine didn’t replace the housewife, it made her life easier.
It's really just saying "we took everything and condensed it in this product" that's really it
They took everything real to turn into a screen
“You’ll own nothing and be happy”
Honestly it wasn’t that bad of a commercial. It showed that all the conventional ways of creating were being done away with, and replaced by something that cannot be hurt or damaged like conventional ways of creation can be. Not bad. 6/10
You could say that about synthesizers and virtually ALL other instruments but look where we are now: we still have orchestras and stuff.
The iPad can be damaged even more than the other things. Remember when the iPads were bent before the box was opened and Apple considered it normal? I'd like to see you snap a piano over some air molecules like you can with an iPad. 😂
I don’t get the criticism. This also isn’t a new ad concept.
The ad for the original Pokemon Red/Blue games on Gameboy literally did the same “large quantity of things compressed in a big giant press, to reveal it all stuffed into a small device”
It was on the close of every 90s Pokemon VHS.
It’s also just capitalizing on the popularity of “hydraulic press” videos on the internet.
To quote Michael Knowles: “shut up, nerd!”
This. You get it. This counter culture reaction has gone so far that people like Knowles and Vee sound like Luddites now.
you don’t get it because you are the crushed product.
Yes, because that’s what we all want, to have all of our stuff replaced by one ultra locked down, overpriced, spyware filled oversized iPhone.
With Apple products, your culture gets thinner and thinner.
The idea is they’ve compressed all these things into the iPad (debatable). But what’s amazing is the visual Freudian slip indicating that the iPad has obliterated culture
I still do not read the Bible “on-line”. I want my Bible in my lap!
The paint ended up as the trans flag colours
Seems they didn’t want to be so obvious
that's not the trans flag 💀
that commercial was sick, what's the issue?
Imagine the same ad, but inside the hydraulic press they put statues of a doctor, a gardener, a teacher, a painter, a scientist, a musician, a carpenter, a nurse etc
Then they crush them all and there’s an Ai powered human-esque robot standing in their place because it can supposedly do everything those people can do.
It’s the subtext, whether they intended it or not. They’re saying ‘look what our ipad can do’ while some of us are seeing the things that make us dynamic, creative, inventive humans being replaced by a thing that makes us passive consumers.
A different way to think about it:
Put a kid in a room with the painting equipment, or musical instruments that were on that crush. After a week you’d come back to something. It might not be good, but they’d have made or practiced SOMETHING.
Now imagine if you put a kid in the same room with an ipad. What do you think is gonna happen? Are they going to paint and make music like the ad implies they can? Or will 95% of them play games and watch UA-cam the whole time?
@@julianpischler9378 ok? it's a tool that can do everything those things it crushed can do, wtf is the issue? And as far as what your kid can do with the ipad, literally everything ? like hello? they will use it to go online and learn LITERALLY everything for free. without having to pay a indoctrination camp i mean college. if they want to do art, there is digital art , you can make music with apps like fruityloops and other music software. wtf are you smoking?
@@julianpischler9378 That would be a neat AI robot ad concept, i hope apple hires you

@@julianpischler9378That sounds amazing. I’d buy that if it actually did the job of all those things. This wasn’t the argument you thought it was, my man.

This commercial reminded me I need to charge my iPad cause it's my alarm clock for work tomorrow...
next up: How Scary Movies traumatised my innocent childhood
This will be a great case study. When you create something like this, you think of the good. No one in the room stood up to say “hmmm, could this possibly be taken the wrong way?”
I think it's a metaphor for saying that life can be very crushing... So let apple do the crushing .. so YOU DO NOTHING AND HAVE NOTHING
It’s all those things compressed into one item.
"Look to us for all your creativity and self-expression"
everything compressed into a iPad.
I don't think that's what the ad was about. It seems to me more like they were intending to say that "this massive bulk of stuff are all compressed/condensed into a single iPad". It's just the visuals that they chose is very unfortunate, kind of misses the mark, and can cause misunderstanding. That squishy ball thing with its eyes popping was really weird.
I think we can all agree, the eyes popping thingy was quite weird
So are they trying to say our existence only needs a phone, food, and maybe a car? Where do they think all of the information we get from the phone comes from? Other phones? LOL
All your life in one small pad , which controls by a bigbrother 😂 very smart, very smart 👹
In every comment section on the Internet, no one is discussing that crushing the bust statue is racist against the white man and his oppressive classical music over centuries.
Oppressive classical music?? What?? That's a ridiculous claim, sorry.
@@Eowyn_Lady_of_Rohan You missed the extremity of the comment, but yes in the past, classical music was only available to wealthy white people, then the bourgeoisie, then to the common man, and then to the colored common people, so crushing the statue bust was racist and an insecure sitcking it to the man backlash.
The comment addressed that it was alright to use a statue bust of a middle-aged- looking white male and not a woman or person of color. Had the bust been Yo Yo Ma, Louis Armstrong, Orly Chap, Aretha Franklin, etc. the commercial would have been banned and caused an outrage with possible vandalism of Apple stores.
I don't see the big deal??????
I know, right?
Right. I thought it was a good commercial
Right lmao
Yeah what the heck? This isn’t creepy!
I found it viscerally creepy. Something weird about destroying normal, perfectly working equipment to be replaced by a 1000 dollar screen.
Is it a slow news week or something? The ad isn't saying 'you don't need all this stuff', it's saying all this stuff can be done by the new iPad Pro.
I thought it was a really creative way of saying "everything you love condensed into a single and very thin product"."
yah I agree
More like forced through pressure
I love kittens! Holy crap this could have been a way different commercial! 😬
If presented correctly, yes. It’d be a good commercial.
“I don’t know what the marketing people were thinking… this has also gone viral.”
Not saying it was a good idea, but I think you answered your question in the same sentence.
That's an awesome ad, I don't see the big deal.
It’s a window into how Apple sees itself , like in the WEF ( world economic forum ), “ in the future, we’ll own nothing and be happy”,,,, but I bet we’ll all have our IPhones
Disgusting, violent, arrogant ad.
Imagine having such a large menstrual cycle that you're actually outraged over this commercial. Pathetic.
This will be a huge argument when people think AI consciousness deserves human rights, or that the simulation of your dead loved one's consciousness is actually really them.
I get what the ad team was trying to suggest, but this horrible ad is deeply disturbing because the iPad is portrayed as a DESTRUCTIVE FORCE, NOT AS A BENEVOLENT CREATIVITY TOOL!
They probably never interviewed any REAL PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS, who are fluent in using both traditional media to create their art as well as the iPad, and got their impression of how the iPad is another amazing tool that fits into their artist's "toolbox", and has made conceptualizing, creating and delivering the finished project or piece, easier, faster and better.
The ad team are out-of-touch, as well as Apple, who had to approve the ad, whose concept should have been given the smack-down BEFORE ANYONE PUT ANY MONEY OR TIME INTO IT!
This is the first video I have ever disagreed with Michael on. What Apple is trying to say is that you can do it all on the iPad. You can listen to music do art on the iPad so you don’t need to buy multiple things. The commercial was also to show how thin it was because it’s the thinnest Apple device ever.
You don't destroy instruments like this even if it was some 60€ guitar.
Even if it was a CG $20 guitar?
Why? it's just a piece of wood
I’m thinking maybe it’s telling us it can replace everything that was squished. Maybe it’s telling us that it can actually create the commercial itself on that iPad. Also it’s incredibly thin and so it did not get squished. As dystopian as it appears, it almost makes me think AI created that commercial.
It’s amazing that anyone in this day and age, especially Michael Knowles viewers, would think for second that anything Apple puts out isn’t in someway propagandized.
Whatever the intention was, it definitely is creepy. And controversy is good advertising I guess.
I'm an Italian that grew up in poorer neighborhoods. My sisters connected with Mexicans when we were young. They're always trying to teach me how to pronounce everything with a Mexican accent. When you said, do I say "let's eat EEE TOWEL EE ON OH" was a game changer. Now when they want me to R R R R english words to sound Spanish.. I say, but you're "EEE TOWEL EE ON OH"!
I think you guys are “OVERTHINKING” everything. It’s a DAMN COMMERCIAL or ADVERTISEMENT
Bro just needed a video idea lol this commercial will most likely be one of their best performing commercials audience retention wise , and it’s not even creepy

He didnt answer the last question. This guy wrote in asking how he could best justify his position and you're response was that he needs to be able to justify his position and give an answer. That's why he wrote to you. He is asking how can he do that.
this wasnt a creepy ad smh, just a creative way to show how much is packed into a single device
That doesn't mean that they sould get away with insulting art as a whole. I love all of the art forms they've thoroughly insulted here, and to see them destroying what I love here is not only an insult to me, but to every creative currently present in the industry. THis only goes to show that innteligence and beauty, like white men, religion, and consevatism, are no longer welcome in this sadistically demonic society they are actively trying to produce. I had never been more insulted by an advertisement since those cringe comps earlier this millenium. This only demonstrates that the globalist eelites hate beauty, and seek to replace it with mundanity and mediocrity, like this glowing rectangle they're selling for a hefty pricetag. This is one of the worst ads released PERIOD.
@@user-ku9jc1xb4x lol ok 😂
it’s a terrifying ad.
Mr. Knowles would make a good actor for a reporter character, ngl.
My take is it’s dark humor mocking the iPad, incredibly ironic it’s an ad made my Apple
I saw a computer the other day that was pretty much the same as my iPad I bought, with the only difference being price. My iPad was over $1,500 while the computer ( which has the same amount of processing power and storage ) was only $340 at Walmart.
So I have an iPad, and actually the full apple collection. Iphone, iPad, and MacBook Pro. I do that because of the simplicity apple offers, the communication between the different products. Do I sometimes wish I had an andriod and could customize stuff, sure, but that would simply increase the want to play on my phone more (personally for me) and not go do something.
So as an apple-head, I love the product and what I can use them for, the reasons why I bought them to begin with! E.g. Notes, photo/video/audio editing, research, stuff of the such.
If used properly and smartly, they are a great tool, if handed to a kid and allowed to raise them, they are a crutch.
We need to realize they are tools, and I agree, this add definitely tries to say the opposite and say it's all we need to live our life.
Imagine being a little kid learning to play a piano and seeing this : “Don’t even bother AI plays better just Learn to Code, loser!”
As an artist I do use my ipad, but I still use all my other tools and mediums. Artists experiment and cannot stand being boxed in.
Creepier than 1984 ad?
That was far less creepy to me than the apple vision pro commercial.
Michael: “Don’t be an Albigensian!”
The Ipad is in the platonic realm of form
It's like they are saying good bye to the real world and hello to the pods
It’s not just a consumption device, it’s a creative tool, It’s also about computers (AI) taking over everything. Taking jobs, in this case creative artists, and there tools.
It’s is a dystopian future we should avoid at at costs.
Everyone is too wussy today. They were just saying we have access to all of these things on an iPad not that we need to destroy all of the things. Us conservatives should be above reading too much into things.
I've refused to use apple products since iTunes crashed my computer and when I spoke with their tech support on changing it to work the way the settings said it would the tech said that is how it's designed.
Can’t believe how sensitive people are 🤦🏻♂️
This old stuff is classic and simply cannot just be replaced by modern technology.
It's fascinating how I have been created for a time like this perfectly. I had no problem with this commercial or idea of never using any physical items again. For that matter, I don't even want to have a body, I never knew what to do with it either. It seems to be always in the way and restrictive. It's amazing how perfect I fit into this reality!
It’s a good commercial. Y’all are looking for offense where there is none. You all sound like Luddites; you’re using the very same arguments that were used against the AUTOMOBILE.
LG did this first about 15 years ago, and they did it better.
I dunno, this is a bit sensational. Don’t snap at the walls people, it’s just a commercial.

The issue I have with the caller's question is that he is assuming the father's response seemingly solely on the fact that he dated for ten years. Nowhere in the question did he say that the father feels like everyone should emulate him. Sounds like he needs to stop letting worry stop him from doing what he believes is right.
