This sounds really usable, regardless of price. The value makes it even better. I've been really impressed with their whole range lately. I like their take on the preamp pedals, too. Making the two channels on some of them different amp models, and the bonus of having reverb built in, makes them really attractive alternatives to some other brands.
I really dig my Donner Dynamic Wah. Much better than the Mooer Envelope I got at the same time. Both are very clean, unlike my EHX Micro Q-Tron, which overdrives the tone and provides a volume boost that makes it more a studio tool for me.
No, it works just fine. Shane just didn't adjust the Sens knob to fully make it 'quack'. He probably should've set it around 10:30 instead of noon so the envelope opens and closes. Where he has it at, the filter is mostly open all the time, so you don't hear the sweep. This pedal is not at all rubbish, as kimfromnewyork says. Very clean, very responsive, very quacky. At least mine is. But you DO have to set the controls correctly. I love Shane, but I think sometimes he starts 'rolling tape' before really getting to know a pedal.
I would use it similar to this. It's an effect or just use the envelope to get that throaty sound and leave it for certain songs and leads. Like a lead boost so to speak. If you want to sound like a serious wah player then you should actually use one.
That's the whole point of his demo of this wah. Using it as a stand alone tone filter. Subtle wah effects for soloing with distortion. Would have been better for a sweep down as well as up. To get the Baritone or tenor sax effect. Or maybe even a bowed Cello note. That's what makes this demo so good. Lead guitarist of all genres don't experiment with filter/ wah TONE effects enough. Especially with DISTORTION.
I quite like using auto wah in conjunction with a regular wah. If you dime them in right you can get something along the lines of a poor-man's Talk Box.
If you have a smaller pedal board one of these smaller pedals works great. Less bulk and weight to drag around. These smaller pedal really sound great! Price is lower too, what's not to like? Nice review as always.
The pedal seems fairly responsive, to me it sounds best all the way up, But I cannot see that ever replacing a traditional wah pedal. Good review The Danelectro sounds fantastic
Sounded good shane ...👍...my opinion on auto wah is it does have vocal sounds but you realy cant imitate wah pedal licks like Hendrix or Clapton with auto wah ...good funk sound but harmonic talking like on the watch tower or, white room ..need the real thing ...filter pedals like this are cool ...auto wah to me sounds more like you said " cocked wah" the sound u get rolling off the tone knob...sweet licks man keepem coming shane...👍👍👍👌
I'm looking for an envelop filter that is extremely subtle.. Like you can barely tell it's on, unless you play VERY hard. The Maxon AF9 almost does it with all the sliders and switches turned all the way down, but I need it to be even more subtle than that. Basically playing a chord at medium pressure, it should sound like the effect isn't even on, but playing chords or single low notes (especially low notes) should just ad a tiny envelope to the sound. I guess I have to mention that my low string is tuned to G1, which probably makes the need for it to be more subtle than the AF-9 more critical. Any ideas? I love the AF-9, but would need to mod it to make the SENS and PEAK sliders be half or less as reactive as they are on zero. Maybe one of these things with a clean blend might help, but a clean blend might also cause weird phasing of the sound. :/
I’m looking for a Jerry Garcia Q-Tron like envelope at an affordable price. Trying for the Fire on the Mountain sound. I think this little guy will do it. Thank you!
It barely sounds on. Nothing beats a qtron. I stupidly sold one awhile back and now I’m trying to buy another cause nothing’s come close. Just spring for the micro qtron
Im tryna grt a straight up cocked tone with mine kinda like michael schenker 80s tone i can use always on for metal to get something harmonic and vocal, any tips ?
I recently got one of these. I hear a loud pop every time I engage the switch.... Much louder than my other pedals(fulltone fd3, xotic AC/RC Oz). Is this louder pop typical of Donner pedals?
Marcus Noel seems to be. I just got the 7 mode delay it pops when its clicked on but it sounds amazing still, great sounding pedals for the price!! Will def be getting more in the future!!
You have used the wrong guitar! ;-) I have used the same guitar with this pedal. It was ok, but not the sound i expected. Luckily, i tried other guitars with this pedal and realized, that the effect profits by a guitar with more highs. So take a Strat with "normal" pickups and it will give a much better sound.
Not fair to use a cheap pedal with an expensive modeler. So we compensate by modeling a cheap amp. Lol. Silly. I do not hear much wah going on in this demo compared to other demo videos of the same pedal. I don’t think it is playing nice with the kemper.
Auto Wah demoes are always the worst. Most of these guys never use one except for the demo. He has the Range turned up to high for guitar. But in general, HP/LP/BP switched filter pedals are better.
It's just a frame rate thing. I'm shooting at 50fps and the kemper probably outputs its lights at 25fps or something. It doesn't look like that lol. (thankfully)

I got 4 Donner pedal and all of them perform flawless. Great Videos Thanks!
That little thing sounds KILLER man!

Is it me or is the wah effect really that light? It barely sounds like a wah at least compared to the versions I have and used.
Yeah it's rubbish, just bought one, sending it straight back
@@kimfromnewyork all I needed to hear, thank you 🤣

Awesome description of the control knobs and their purpose. Donner makes great pedals for the price. Great playing as usual.
I quite like using auto wah in conjunction with a regular wah. If you dime them in right you can get something along the lines of a poor-man's Talk Box.
Feels like i'm about to watch a 1977 comedy with Richard Pryor and Jimmy J.J. Walker.
Hahaha
Dynomite !! 😂

Sounds like another winner from Donner! Is it a Crybaby or Vox? No, but sounds like it adds some nice color to the tone for the money. 👍🏻✌🏻🎸
The pedal seems fairly responsive, to me it sounds best all the way up, But I cannot see that ever replacing a traditional wah pedal.
Good review
The Danelectro sounds fantastic
2 words man, dirt and poor
Just got mine today hey it even came with stickers that's huge points already.Tomorrow I'll be testing it out.Stoked!
Stickers? Ok, no hesitation, I'm getting this now.
Maybe a comparison of Donner vs Joyo auto wah ?
Love It !!! I like it at 12-2-max-2
Wouldn't it have made a LOT more sense to set up the sensitivity first?
No. It would only add about 3db of sense to the presentation.
That intro sounded very Claptony! I'm surprised it doesn't have a level control as it seemed to drop a little bit of volume when you kicked it in.
Adding this one to my Amazon cart
Sounds fine :) without distortion like on Temptations 70.s stuff. Nice Dano as well ;)
Thanks, I just purchased one for review and I was thinking Voodoo Child was an appropriate step.
Not a bad little Wah!! I’m sure there are plenty of tones you could coax from this pedal and it’s a bargain! 🤙🏾🤘🏽🎸🎸🎸
Does it work well on Sweet Child O' Mine's wah solo part?
No. This is an auto filter. You'd need a standard wah for the Sweet Child O' mine sound.
Bought one but it sounds too subtle to me, almost like only a bit of the signal is getting effected. Have I got a faulty one?
Where did you have it in the signal chain mate? Did you have it as the first pedal, inbetween or at the end?
Very good tone!

great video
this pedal sounds great keeps the tone thick where a lot of auto wah pedals can sound a bit thin
Thank You that was awesome!!

Did you go for it? I’m looking at doing the same, trying to find a cheap one to get the Jerry sound
@@justinmau8119 yes, I did. It does the Qtron justice for sure!
How does it sound on bass?
Some cool funky tunes. Is that some kind of mad disco effect on the Kemper making it light up like a knocking shop on payday?
What's a knocking shop
Guitar ocd A bordello, brothel, house of ill repute.
Ah lol maybe it's a good name for a band.
Fantastic playing Shane!! Cheers mate ;)
Liked for the playing. Never got on with the pedal though.
can a bass use it? guitar only?
Very helpful, thanks!!
You think you can get. mid wah Michael Schenker tone from this?
It barely sounds on. Nothing beats a qtron. I stupidly sold one awhile back and now I’m trying to buy another cause nothing’s come close. Just spring for the micro qtron
Dude... I like that Danelectro... extra cheese double deluxe...
Indeed, I didn't know they made those but it sounds and looks totes amazeballs.
Would this work for playing the solo in sweet child o mine
Hi, so.... THIS or Mooer envelope filter??
Nice demo!!
Awesome!
Im tryna grt a straight up cocked tone with mine kinda like michael schenker 80s tone i can use always on for metal to get something harmonic and vocal, any tips ?
I wish Donner created an actual Auto Wah, with an LFO sweeping the Wah automatically.
Not bad at all !! Funky man !!! Great review as always Shane , and boy have I got GAS for those bloody pickups lol 👍😉🎸
Is this pedal too noisy when we do not pick up?
Very nice presentation :)
Cool rev. & playing ;)
can you get that Jerry Garcia sound with this pedal ??
You can get damn close
These are more subtle than most wah pedals, doesn’t sound like a 70s porn film.😂

You should hear the ehx neo clone pop.... Now that is loud!
I have this aswell and noticed there is no master volume control which is bit annoying as when turned on boosts the overall volume!
Hey Shane!!!Any chance you could demo the Mooer Envelope?
It's the same exact pedal just rebranded

FUNKAY!
yeeessss a danelectro
Cool

that kemper is godawful ugly....cool pedal though...thanks!
Doesn't do it for me, it sounds weak to me
It sounds very cheap
Too much talking....
My god the kemper is ugly as hell.
Does it light up like a christmas tree or is it just a video thing?
Looks like a toy.
It's just a frame rate thing. I'm shooting at 50fps and the kemper probably outputs its lights at 25fps or something. It doesn't look like that lol. (thankfully)
That is an effect of LED which cycle on/off and will be picked up depending on how the video frame rate is recorded
This is the worst wah pedal in the world. Can hardly hear it
That's the whole point of his demo of this wah.

Shoot a video Lorenzeo, so numbnuts can comment and tell you how you did it wrong.
