Top class solo at the start - no weird effects added to confuse the issue or demo. Really appreciated the varied and well-explained demos for various settings and controls, plus the contrast between Strat and LP as well as also demoing rhythm and single string picking. Well done. Bell rung.
I was looking for a small envelope filter type of pedal, and I chose the Donner based largely on this video. It is lovely on guitar as the beginning of this video shows. The good news is it's also pretty decent on bass! It's not a very versatile filter when used on bass, compared to others, but 1) what it does, it does very well, 2) it's not crazy sensitive like some others where if you don't adjust the sensitivity knob just right you end up getting unwanted crazy bassy lows or spikey highs if you're not absolutely precise... so it's very easy to adjust, and 3) no low end loss: so many of these cheaper filters seem to remove too much bass, and/or boosting mids, which cuts through great but leaves the bottom end empty. The Donner works very well on bass for those burpy underwater quack/wah funky moments.
I watched your review and immediately ordered on of these devices, looking forward to some experimenting at the weekend, thanks for the awesome review.
Thank you - I bought one after reading your review. Instructions are minimal, to say the least! It may be pretty obscure but it sounds great on my fret-less baritone !
Finally a good review of the DDW thx.I wish folk would not be shy of showing extreme settings. I'll use the DDW for a marching band so I'll have to rig a 9v battery.Very Good playingTHX again.
Probably the best analytical / technical analysis of what each knob does: there are a **lot** of "explanations" of this nature on UA-cam that do a very poor job where you've done a great one. Kudos. ;)
Ross - this review helped me to choose this pedal. Great explanation, great examples, made it all easy to understand. Wish I could play like you though - tasty licks there dude.
Thanks for this video. I have one of these cool little pedals on my board and your demo of the controls has made it easier for me to get it to work great with both of my guitars. Good job.
Just purchased your course a few days ago. I wish I waited a few days for the 50% off! I'm enjoying the course very much. Currently working on the fretboard mastery before I move forward to the next section. Great stuff!
I've recently switched to using mostly nano pedals - Tone City and EHX (their Freeze pedal is superb), but this little Donner wah is one I've chosen. It works very well but, as with all pedals, it can take a lot of (interesting) experimentation to the tone and touch that suits you best - but for its price and size it's WELL worth checking out. I use mine with the guitar tone rolled off a bit. I also use it a lot for playing lead lines much in the same way that you demonstrate at 8.31+. (Fender Duo Sonic). Excellent demo - well structured with lots of examples and good views of the pedal settings you use.
The best demo of this extraordinary pedal. Sometimes it's difficult to find the sound that I've have on my mind... Witch settings would you use if you want to play modern country, as Paisley guitar for example?
Fantastic little affordable auto wah. The "Dynamic" part of this unit is just right. Most Auto Wahs are a pain in the arse. This Donnor pedal with their Donnor compression/tone/volume boost pedal are fantastic sounding and easy to use. And, the price makes all the expensive ones cringe rightfully so.
Nice choice of notes in the introductory solo, mature playing (beyond your years) and great easy sense of melody. I think this is what you were saying towards the end - the sweep doesn't reset quick enough for the next triggering, it's so close to being a great pedal for single coils although humbuckers don't seem to have enough harmonic content for it to chew on. How about a vid of your guitar playing history, background, current "gigs" and some vids of live performances? Thanks for the vids, going to look at your online course.
Thanks very much Stuart! Yes that's exactly what I'm getting at :) Sure man I could do something like that in the future, thank you for the suggestion.
Very nice sound. I bought one of this one year ago but last week it has stopped working... probably components quality is so low and if you need it for a long time this may not be right choice...
Also I was wondering what about the volume whenever it's activated do you lose volume from your amp at all ? I can't have a volume drop off with any of my pedals they all needs to be the exact same level volume when it's off or on. With the wah and the donner Echo does either one of them lose volume or does the volume stay level?
Really nice! Is this the kind of effect that JM used in his 'Going Down the Road Feelin Bad' version at letterman? I've been searching for ages to find that tone
Beautiful demo. I bought myself one after seeing your demo. Thank you. The only thing that I love more than your demo and guitar playing is your awesome English accent ❤️
I wonder if you could use this Donner wah pedal on a bass guitar through your pedalboard and it would sound professional when i play live. Right now I've got an envelope filter the mutron3 I'm just wondering if I could downsize and still get a really good professional sound using this as a base wah pedal what do you think?
I could be wrong but I believe this circuit is heavily based on the mutron iii/q-tron. I'm also fairly certain it is exactly the same as the Mooer Envelope. There are bass demos available for that pedal.
I always think off a Jerry Garcia Type Sound, but no autowah seems to provide it, except the DOD 400.. this Donner pedal isn’t really good, it just doesn’t sound right
Hey Ross!Really enjoying your conent and online guitar course on udemy! I'm thinking of buying a single coil pickup guitar and I mostly play bluesy stuff; I have to ask, is there any reason to pick the telecaster over the stratocaster? (both MIM)
Hey, thanks very much! Hmm good question. If you want a sturdy workhorse guitar and aren't too fussed about having the variety of pickup combinations that a Strat has, and/or you hate tremolos, go for the tele. I love my Tele for the tone of the bridge pickup - it sounds twangy but beefy at the same time. I don't really like the sound of the neck pickup on Tele's (or the combination of bridge and neck), so with that being said I definitely prefer the pickup combination of Strat's more. Might make a video about this actually...
Donner: if you're checking back on this channel - this is the first "demo" of this pedal that has made me consider buying it. ;)
GREAT DEMO and REVIEW!!
Me too
I agree my friend I just ordered one this morning from Amazon looking forward to it
This is how a demo is supposed to be done, thank you.
Top class solo at the start - no weird effects added to confuse the issue or demo.
Really appreciated the varied and well-explained demos for various settings and controls, plus the contrast between Strat and LP as well as also demoing rhythm and single string picking. Well done. Bell rung.
Ross: your comment re control of the **shape** of the decay curve as well as its **length** is very on-point. Well said.
Little JM Rosie inspiration in the beginning? Sounds amazing dude
Yep, totally ripped it off. Thanks Brett!
I wouldn't say ripped it off! Sounds like you made it your own!

Dude your guitar style with that wah is absolutely balls !!Frigging beautiful!
Excellent review my friend and excellent player! I just ordered mine this morning after seeing your review

Ross does a great job reviewing this pedal ( and his guitar playing isn't bad either ! )
I'm gonna get me one of them! Thanks! 😊
how'd you get such a clean sound?
Ross - this review helped me to choose this pedal. Great explanation, great examples, made it all easy to understand. Wish I could play like you though - tasty licks there dude.
Just got one. Thanks for the detailed review mate, good job. Sounds pretty killer for 40 Australian dollars!!!
All my stuff is donner
Thanks for this video.
I have one of these cool little pedals on my board and your demo of the controls has made it easier for me to get it to work great with both of my guitars. Good job.
Awesome Rick, thanks!
Well done. The best review of this pedal, cause you know how to handle a Dynamic-Wah. Have you heard Guthrie Govan using Autowah....Great FX

Glad to hear that you're enjoying it Phil, thank you!

Great Review Man... I just picked one up.. I personally love it. It's well rounded for such a compact device for sure..
Well done
im stealing that intro lick
Good demo. Nice playing and beautiful guitar!
Great review!

Great playing :)
amazing stuff sir, keep up the funk, plus the pedals is legit.
Very nice sound. I bought one of this one year ago but last week it has stopped working... probably components quality is so low and if you need it for a long time this may not be right choice...
Best review of this pedal!!! Good playing as well. Does the decay knob affect the sustain on the tone? Or does it only effect the highs?
Very nice job
Bought 3 different auto wahs and none worked with my strat. Does pickup height make a difference?
wish someone would make a mini fixed wah pedal - can't find one anywhere!
so with Les Paul guitars have to have the sens down then with a teley or strat?
Those little Donner pedals seem to be pretty awesome! Must check them out. Great review man :)
Thanks Andrzej!
So does it prevent you from ringing out a note? When engaged on the lowest decay setting, is it in unity as far as sustain go?
Also I was wondering what about the volume whenever it's activated do you lose volume from your amp at all ? I can't have a volume drop off with any of my pedals they all needs to be the exact same level volume when it's off or on. With the wah and the donner Echo does either one of them lose volume or does the volume stay level?
Would a buffer pedal help maintain the volume?
Would this work for jerry tone??
Nice video. Only subscribed a few days ago but already massive fan😂
Haha, thanks Sam!
Ross Campbell no problem. Again, great video :)
Really nice! Is this the kind of effect that JM used in his 'Going Down the Road Feelin Bad' version at letterman? I've been searching for ages to find that tone
Is this pedal too noisy when we do not pick up?
what is the tabulature for the piece of music starting at 3:45?
You can't figure that out?
its treasure by bruno mars
Anyone use this on bass? Does it lose any lows?
Beautiful demo. I bought myself one after seeing your demo. Thank you. The only thing that I love more than your demo and guitar playing is your awesome English accent ❤️
What...that Scottish accent!! 🙂

Would this work for playing the solo in Enter Sandman or Sweet Child o Mine?
sounds like it is adding some distortion or is it just me imagining things ?
I haven't noticed that with mine.
I always think off a Jerry Garcia Type Sound, but no autowah seems to provide it, except the DOD 400..
this Donner pedal isn’t really good, it just doesn’t sound right
Can I get a good Jerry Garcia sound out of this?
ClassicRockLivesOn sounds like it!
Did you watch the video? 😀

How do you do your hair?
That's top secret information.
Good Tae a Scottish voice .
Can you used this pedal on bass?
