- As my number one riding country in the world I’m back!! Follow my off-road adv motorcycle adventure in Iceland with this travel documentary style video. I was lucky enough to explore the heart of Iceland on a motorcycle with RideWithLocals. Riding the KTM EXCF 350 enduro motorcycle we travelled 200-240 kilometres each day off-road.
Iceland offers motorcycle riding experiences like nowhere else on Earth and I hope this video will help you see why! Footage is from my DJI, Mavic Air2 drone and iPhone.
Over 2.5 million tourists visit Iceland each year to see the big sights. Hot spas, waterfalls, glaciers, geysers, tectonic plates and lava fields. They pack into coaches or hire cars. But riding here with RideWithLocals on off-road bikes changes your perspective. We can discover the must-see spots from the less trodden tracks, skipping the crowds, and seeing things most tourists might only glimpse from the plane window. We rode up close to Hekla, slept below the Myrdalsjokull Glacier, recharged in an spa, explored huge craters without a soul in sight, picked across lava fields such as Veiðivatnahraun, crossed valley basins and crested mountains, riding volcanic ash berms. It was riding heaven combined with cultural and geological discovery: A trip only motorcycles can make possible.

We did the trip with RideWithLocals, the only Icelandic enduro company and based just a 2h 45min flight from the UK. A fully-inclusive motorcycle Iceland trip on KTM EXCFs with a support vehicle, fuel, food, mountain hut accommodation, trail snacks, beer and all the local gen from the Vikings running it. We had six days riding, covered roughly 1400km doing 9 to 11- hour riding days and got to see the real Iceland - which is unseen by most tourists. Oh yup it is a stunning picturesque country, everywhere you look is just gorgeous views and terrain!
When you are in a area with a lot of insects like in this video it is said that not showering is a natural repellent for insects but also for women not wearing scented deodorants and perfumes is a good idea or at least not ones that are sweet smelling or flowers. I imagine you have a lot of people saying inappropriate stuff about the two of you being together like in the video so I am uneasy about saying this. I love seeing you riding with your GF (Sorry I do not know her name?) it is nice to see the two of you having fun and hanging out riding together.
Oh i didnt think of that, interesting! Maybe next time i will give it a go, except i don't think the vikings will enjoy my smelly armpits hehe! But yey super glad to hear you enjoy seeing Anika in the vid, plenty more adventures with her to come woo! 😎
This looks like a right hoot Vanessa. Having Anika around is also a plus. A good job that you don't have lane assist on the bikes or you could end up anywhere in Iceland and I'm not talking about the bread isle while looking for the cheese.

Yup you sure can, I have been to Iceland numerous times and have never had a problem with the flies like this trip so the Vikings gave us the flies nets hehe

I need to know what that Icelandic hot dog had on it, type of meat, and how did it taste? I'm a hot dog freak that prefers mine Chicago style! Looked like and awesome ride and I hope it will be open this summer if the volcanic eruptions calm down and all clear is given. Will my KTM 890 be able to handle that terrain in this video or no??
I can not be sure on the meat (can you ever be sure when it comes to a hot dog? 🙈) but it had a special traditional icelandic sauce and some magic crispy onions... I think the best way for you to know is to head over there and try one for yourself, and if you find the hotdog dissapointing I guarantee the riding will make up for it !!

The Island has never been closed Due to the volcanoes !!! Only Small area... And people are driving to IT... not from it

I can see the flies are a pain but at least they don't nibble so use of head nets are needed but I feel it could be worse, it could be flying monkeys 🐒 and sorry but even an umbrella isn't going to be of much use.

Iceland sure looks fantastic, and your vitality and energy just adds to the entire experience. The small winged critters would however drive me insane, unless it is possible to wear a well-used sock, as a talisman around the neck, and skip a few extra showers to keep them at arms length. 🦟🦟🦟
