Great tutorials. So easy to follow! I'm hoping hubby can use this one as the basis for making a quilting frame for me - I need the sewing machine to travel smoothly exactly the same way in a sweeping and circular motion along a track like this for free motion quilting. I think it would work perfectly! I could even follow a pattern template to duplicate it onto the quilt! ☺

Assuming the "play" is minimal. Those spacers I mentioned, if the length is adjusted that will allow for adjustments, to get it to run just right. If you make them a millimetre or 2 longer it will push the rails apart, making it run looser, if it is a 2mm shorter when they are screwed in they will pull the rails in together, making the fit tighter.

He's using the original pronunciation of the word, not the American pronunciation. (Alumium was the original spelling by it's discoverer, before he altered the spelling to Aluminium.)

When it's not being used and you need full access to the lathe, have you figured out where to store it since it is soooo big? Might I suggest you hang it from one end on the blank wall behind the bandsaw? OR on the opposite wall between the garage door and the tablesaw?

Cant fault your work, but I think the drawer tracks will prove unsatisfactory.
First they will tend to clog with sawdust, and second, the vibrations from the turning process will probably cause early failure.
