Linux Mint is great, I am on LMDE 6, I have an "old" machine with it on bare metal, so no VM there, but there are basic things like dealing with PDFs that are just too much trouble on Linux, and then hardware compatibility issues, and even stuff that is very easy as working two monitors, that I have been unable to get up and running on LMDE
Definitely something I would switch over too especially since my current laptop does not support Windows 11 and Microsoft is ending support and security updates on Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. Saves me tons of money over buying a new laptop and this looks very similar to Windows 10 and this version is supported until 2029 and smoothly runs on older computers that are not supported by Windows 11. The beauty is you can try it out on the live version without deleting Windows and changing your hard drive to see if you like it before permanently installing it. The live version runs completely off the CD or the USB drive.
Far from it. Every app is outdated, and it's lacking a lot of features compared to modern distros. It feels like you are in 2019, also they keep bashing Ubuntu, yet their whole distro is based on it. If you don't like Ubuntu so much don't base your distro on it or stop crying.
@@Home-o2v4h I never said I hated it, just that there are much better distros, with devs that put much more effort in it, so it's unfair to call Mint the 'goat'
@demerdemer328 There is no problem, but if you actually watched the video, you would see that he said it has the "entire LibreOffice suite" even though it does not have LibreOffice Base. I do not use LibreOffice at all, so it is not a problem for me.
If you want anything more modern to work, don't use Linux Minut lol, they are always behind 5 years on everything. Use Fedora or Arch based distro, or even new Ubuntu 24.10
@@wooshbait36i'm a windows user and i'm using linux mint because it's easy for begginers, btw i want to switch when i learned the basic things and use something else like fedora or arch. Fedora has so many distributions like silverblue ecc. Do you recommend any? And why use arch?
I believe they've dropped synaptic from the included apps, which is a shame. Yes, it's old, but it's VERY powerful and useful. Users can add it back in, of course, and I intend to.

If I would be a gamer first, then I would run Windows instead of any kind of Linux. But, being a Linux fan, I am happy that with Proton gaming became really good on Linux. It doesn't matter much which distro it is (yes, including Debian stable :), as long as Steam, Lutris, Proton and the graphics drivers are kept up to date, and gamesmode is installed and runs for games. I run a kernel from Debian Backports, at the moment 6.11, but could just as easily install the Liquorix kernel on it.
I switched from Windows to Linux MInt 22 full time now and loving it.. I'm tired of all the spyware Microsoft puts In Windows.

the qredshift advice was great!!! thx
I'm already using the beta and it's very stable.
Wonder why its still in beta 3 weeks later?
@@dragonballjiujitsuBecause the stable version will probably come out in about 4 months...

And in place upgrades to the coming versions of Linux Mint are easy.
Linux Mint the GOAT
Truly is 😊

@wooshbait36 I am using Ubuntu 24.04 anyway... Why do you hate mint ?

It's not the entire suite; it's missing Libreoffice Base.
Sudo apt install libreoffice / wheres the problem?

@organess0nIt does have the full LibreOffice. The shortcuts are just missing.
When will it release?
It's already out
Any idea if you can simply update your older mint version? Or does it need a fresh install
Linux Mint is so interesting that even has to be mentioned that it has calendar and a web browser lol. Really advanced distro
Lol
Must be a lot of bugs, here we are January 9th and its still not out of beta.
Is the wayland session usable now ?

It's been out for a few days now.
only suse tw in my heart ) lmde second and mint third)
The title is Using Linux Mint, but we don't actually get to see you really using it until 9 minutes. Could use better editing.
I agree. Should have thought more about the title. Thank you.
Tbh, linux is good in many things, but video editing isnt one of them

Amazing, but not for Gaming, but for Office or Surfing
That's a good thing because I'm not a gamer
@danteerskine7678 yes only for you but not for.everyone. I.think Mint will be in 2 or 3 years awesome, because then.sjould support wayland correctely
I don't see why it wouldn't be good for gaming. I am gaming on Debian Stable, with Steam, Lutris, protonup-qt, nvidia drivers and backport kernel.
@@tcapd Triple AAA Games or Solitare? 🤣

Really nothing that new in this release of Mint.... I've been using Mint for years.
