4 years now with my Kenevo 2020 Expert - so far nobody has suprised me with anything better ...not Spec, not Trek, nothing else from the bigest brands. All round ebike - KENEVO EXPERT.
I feel like Martyn is at heart, a ebike hater. That being said, I pretty much agree with everything he said….but LOL I agree with Steve also. Weight is only working against you when the geometry is not dialed in…within reason that is. Myself…I prefer big travel, full power and plus size tires. Always love the videos, the whole crew does such a good job.
I love my Kenevo SL, and I know the new motor will fit the old version (it's the same frame with a slightly different plastic bit on the bottom) but it seems there is no plan to sell the motor separately, which is kind of a disservice to Specialized's existing customers.
Exactly! Why do they force customers to spend another $6000+ on a bike every time a basic new upgrade comes out? Why don't they allow people to buy a new upgraded powertrain, rather than making their whole bike obsolete? They would sell 10x more $1200 motor upgrades than $12,000 bikes, especially the way the economy is going these days!

As soon as I saw the article about the levo SL I reached out to my local shop and they informed me that they definitely had a plan that allowed guys who have the bike now to upgrade the motor. I think the bike is amazing and I don’t need a full power bike as I still want to get a work out. That being said 50 Newton meters seems like it would be the Sweet Spot. 🥳
Ho Adam, are you absolutely sure that new motor will fit our "old" kenevo SL? Because my shop told me is not possibile and I wouldn't change for the new version but upgrading the engine. Controversial matter, I have heard different thoughts...could someone clarify that? Thanks
Call Specialized out for calling the KSL 2 when the frame is the same, and they do not allow buyers to install the SL 1.2 motor. Anyway love my KSL, the battery is perfect for my 3500ft vert climbs. They also changed the spline interface, where cranks are already hard to get from Praxis.
I’d take my FF Kenevo over the SL anytime. Bigger battery capacity, range, swappable battery, WAY cheaper, and it carries and hides it weight extremely well. Steve sums up the geo having a large effect on handling, and not just weight.
Kenevo SL was brilliant suspension and capability, but it isn’t perfect by a long shot. It can’t fit a long dropper and the seat was always in my way at 6’ tall. It also isn’t Mx compatible. Yes I ran it as a mullet but the bb was so low it wasn’t worth it. I’m digging the heckler SL. Just as capable of not more so thanks to the smaller rear wheel. Maybe not as fast but the geo is so good and so is the suspension feel. The TCU on the specialized is so good. The Fazua app is so outclassed by Specialized it’s a joke, but again the heckler rides better and has more range built in.
The best Levo SL is enough with 35Nm and the Kenevo SL will probably be perfect with 50Nm. I personally have 2 pcs (one as a spare) of the best ebikes that I built myself, namely 2 pcs 35Nm Levo SL full carbon with full XTR, Roval wheels and 170mm fork😊
Pretty damn happy with my KSL 1.1, most of the time in Eco or Trail, battery lasts ages on my local trails. If I wanted more I would've gone to a 2.2 Brose Levo Alloy

The battery is not what was limiting the power, they likely upgraded the motor and programming to get more power out of it. That battery could probably do triple output that’s needed, batteries are typically way overbuilt as to not stress them very much.
Great bike. I love my 2022 Kenevo SL except for me its power is insufficient. I only wish that the new 1.2 motor would be compatible with the old Kenevo SL. Unfortunately, Specialized never makes that possible.
I've ordered my first proper real mountain bike the Vitus E-Escarpe 290 VR I've got three ebikes at home witch I wouldn't call real bikes they are way over powered And the geometry is all wrong so thank to Steve jones and his reviews on this bike I pulled the trigger and brought myself a real bike and I can't wait plus a novice like me I'm going to get auto shift as well so cheers for that mate 👍🏽can you lend me a fiver

I see your Dave Thorpe and raise you Graham Noyce. Saw him at Hawkstone Park years and years ago, he was the only rider to jump the HONDA bomb hole. I was on the front cover photo in T&MX of him crossing the line (I mean, a very blurred photo but if defo was me).
fwiw. I tend to ride my full-power Kenevo set at 35% in Eco and 60% in Trail, and find I very rarely use Turbo (100%)... So now the SL features a 50Nm motor it would essentially be like running my full-power motor in Trail... however, I do think Specialized have missed a trick in not offering the option to run a larger battery inside the down-tube (at least 500w, and ideally 620w for example) rather than having to rely on their smaller capacity extender batteries still if you want more range.
Hard to use the Kenevo SL as a shuttle bike. Still lacks the power of the fat emtbs. Mixed riding groups and the Kenevo SL will be a fair bit slower on the uphills but rip to the front on the downs. Range is ace especially with micro tune. Have mine setup that way by default.
Hi Guys, I have a Q for you or any of your subs here. I purchased a Norco Site C1, ETMB, 3 weeks in, and on a recent ride, the fully charged battery just stopped! I was on a 30 k ride, pretty much in the middle of no where, so tried to trouble shoot by removing and reconnecting the connection a few times. After riding it out of the woods w out the power, I again tried a few times to charge, perhaps 4 times. Still no power. Took it in to a local shop and upon arrival, it worked! I don't have much confidence, so asked the shop to talk w Norco to see if there might be in issue, I don't have much confidence in this practically new bike w a faulty power connection. Has anyone else had this issue?
Honda started as a small motor and motorcycle company before it was a car company. If they really wanted to make an ebike they could make a fricking great ebike.

I’ve spoken to my local shop and it seems specialized is making the motors available for the current version. I plan to get the bigger motor.

A 620wh with today's tech wouldn't allow the bike to be an sl. It's 21kg with the current battery size. The fazua is the holy grail atm
