Where is the best place to buy a 59K? Website or face to face? And what is the price point I should be looking for with a 2022 or 2023? Is there a big diff between 2022 and 2023?

@@chrishamilton1189 there are two chassis for 2023. The easiest way to tell them apart is the newer 2023s have a different wheel with some black on it as I recall where the older chassis has an all silver wheel. I was shopping a few months ago and the newer chassis wasn’t discounted as much as the older chassis. Considering how hard it is to get service I’d try and find a dealer that is within a reasonable distance of where you live. Seems like the dealers on the west coast were discounting more than dealers in the southeast. The dealers pay nearly the same for the units it’s just a matter of being patient and making a local dealer be competitive with offers you solicit online. Good luck. I love our 2020.5 59K.

I bought my Travato K back in 2018, I absolutely love it, has the 2800 W generator. I put 300 W of solar on the roof upgraded to a MPPT charge controller, put two 100 AH lithium batteries on it.
The AC has some trouble keeping it cool inside here in Phoenix in the summer, but if I park in the shade, it helps a lot.
I would not trade it for any other floor plan.

Hey guys, love your videos! Although I’ve cooled off on the RV idea, it lurks in my head and I enjoy the info. The Winnebago’s floor plan is quite good, I like the center beds and rear bath. I’d encourage you to consider Embassy…the owners seem super happy, you don’t see them sold used (the owners hang on to them), and you can choose a RAM or Ford chassis (Bob I know you like the Benz but they’re way more $ to maintain and repair). The Travato will be a more affordable price point most likely.
    Enjoy the chase!!!

Found it interesting you liked the Travato K so much, we have a 2022 but it's a KL so we have Lithium. If you can afford the L model, it's totally worth it in our opinion. We got ours in Sept 2021 and we have 22K miles now, with not many issues. The price on this non lithium at 127 is also interesting, we paid 125 for our Lithium so they've gone up quick for sure. We don't stay in one place very long usually, so we can take advantage of the fact ours charges while we drive. We haven't plugged in for shore power anywhere in over a year. My wife and I differ on the bed from her thoughts, we tried the twins one night and we both found it hard to rest well concerned about rolling over and falling on the floor. The VERY best aspect of the K model for us is the larger bed once you convert it, which is a quick easy process. It's larger than a queen for sure, not much smaller than a King. My wife is small and still felt the twin wasn't for her. One important note: Many owners seem to love the dual pane windows. Ours was to have them as well, but we would have incurred an unknown delay, even prior to big supply chain issues. We now love our sliders and very happy as numerous owners have had issues with dual pane. Windows falling out is the main culprit but other problems as well. Many owners have broken windows as they open their sliding door into an awning window that's open. They can also be scratched easily while cleaning. We also believe the insulation factor is over-rated as well, but we haven't done a scientific study. We just have learned to control temps somewhat with use of reflectix or other materials. She didn't mention it in the vid, but the bath in the back is great for another reason. Weather permitting, you can shower outside with a privacy curtain secured between the doors. I've showered outside nearly every time, maybe once inside. There's a quick connect hose in the back you can use to shower but I use the main shower head which reaches outside easily. Finally the 6 speed transmission, think it's 9 now which seems like overkill, is very helpful if you travel much in hilly areas. We've had ours at 12k ft elevation in CO and you'll get a brake warning light in no time without using the 6 or 9 speed. You just pull over and rest 10-15 mins to clear the light, but it helps to shift manually. It's been our experience it's been very rugged and a tough vehicle, we have put it through its paces already. The one problem with Travatos is how low the grey and black tank releases are in the back. You can easily bottom out and damage that area even with a normal curb so backing in spots isn't advised. Same for battery box in the back, you only have about 6-7 inches so you have to take great care. Thankfully a full year of research landed us our perfect rig on the first try, instead of 3rd as she mentioned. Good luck searching and travel safe

Not only that the Winnebago Era that's built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 XD has the 170" wheelbase, but it's also the extended body. So it's a little longer than the Winnebago Adventure Wagon that's built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 XD with the 170" wheelbase & the non extended body. The Thor Dazzle 2JB that's built on the Ram ProMaster with the 159" wheelbase & the extended body has to be a 2022 model year, as it has the upgraded dashboard & steering wheel, but it still has the previous style front end.

I would not buy a Mercedes, too expensive to service and hard to find dealerships in remote areas. You can always find a Ford, Chevy, GMC, Dodge/Jeep dealership. I owned a Mercedes and would never own another one. Pricing has nothing to due with workmanship, I know someone who spent $300,000 and it too was falling apart. The mentality people think is, if I spend more money it was built better "not". ALL the manufactures only care about is how many units they can build in a day, they will let the dealerships deal with the problems.

I'm not much shorter and can't believe you'd have an issue. On longer drives and I'm adjusting my seat to stretch and "move around", I've had my seat where my knees have plenty of room. Where I normally have the seat, it's not much extra but at least a couple inches. They're not terribly comfortable to begin with no matter what, but with some adjustments you get used to it and gets better over time.

I would definitely go with the Winnebago Travato! I would do the lithium package with the induction stove top! Induction heats up so incredibly fast, and no poisonous gases inside your RV. Plus induction is super controllable! Yes I was a gas stove top only for the longest time but I’ve had induction now for almost a year and I would never go back to gas again! The induction goes into the pan versus heating up your van like Gas does.

I've always liked the twin bed/rear bath layout. It allows one person to snooze in later, while allowing the other to move about. When the table is in place, the beds form the sitting bench. The beds due double duty. Also, visually, the living area seems much more open, without counters on both sides narrowing the space. You do sacrifice a little bit of of kitchen counter, however.

Honestly, we move about fine with one resting even with the larger bed made. If you want to go back to the bath, yes that's an issue but otherwise we cope well with it. We normally make up the bed for the day while traveling, it's easy enough to do. My wife is small and we still couldn't rest comfortably in the twins. Hard for us to rest well thinking about rolling over too much and hitting the floor. That would hurt pretty bad no doubt, but we've heard of many using them as twins. The converted bed is nearly a King, hard to find in any rig but esp one this small.

Have seen some Ks and Gs for 120-125 lately. Regarding their height, I'm the same and there's no issue with this van. For our use, this is ideal and we can park it in our driveway and park in a normal parking spot while traveling. Filling the tank doesn't kill you either and the gas mileage is pretty nice. The Travato you saw today is on the new advance chassis. That alone has added $8,000 to the price. It is beautiful and has many added features. Because you live in Arizona the white van would be much cooler than your Granite Gray. The new Travato has both the new quiet generator and the new quiet A/C. Travato comes in to styles, the twin bed / rear bath and the dinette model with a front dinette and corner bath and corner bed. For those who desire to spend a lot of time at a work station or dinette the “G” Travato is ideal. However the bed is small and your head is at the back door, so it is cold and noisy back there. With the rear bath “K” the ability to work or dine is there but on smaller tables. With the twin beds you have day loungers as well as night beds. You can choose the twin beds, or make up the near king size bed at night. You can sleep in all four directions in the Travato K with the width of the Ram Promaster. The passenger side bed is good size but the driver side is smaller. When made into the larger bed the driver side feels larger because your feet can go through the bathroom door and you could be fine on either side. The downside of the larger bed is that you sleep with your head forward mostly so that you have easy to access the bathroom. There is a cutout in the middle of the bed so you can get out of bed and into the bathroom at night. But in the morning turning to front is a bit of a gymnastics event.

I love the open layout of the Travato 59K, but we decided we really wanted a pop top for this stage in our lives. We’re going with the Winnebago Solis PX. I’ve heard a few too many horror stories about the Thor vans. All RVs seem to have glitches, but it really sounds as if Winnebago’s quality is more reliable than Thor.

Hi! My wife and I enjoy your videos.Sorry about all the problems you had with your B. We have a Travato 59K and it is even better than you think. A couple of things you might have missed. Starting with the 2022 model year the bed has a european style slat system that just pulls across the isle. 5 seconds! No silly legs and boards to make the bed. And it’s a King size bed! Only challenge is getting to the bathroom at night if you sleep with your head towards the back. But it’s easy once you get the hang of it; get up on your knees and turn around. You may have missed the enormous storage under the passenger bed. More hints: add a Lagun mount midway along the passenger bed. Now you have a table mid way on the “sofa” where you can sit opposite each other to eat, play cards etc. Note that the sofas are deep and dont especially lend themselves to seating without dangling legs. Our bedding is in bolster/covers we made and they make a good backrest. Might still need a foot rest but that’s easy. The T facebook group is nuts- they know more than Winnebago so support is just a question away. We would love to share more just reach out. One more thing it’s a commodity. once you know what you want shop nationwide. we ordered ours and got it at a great price-sounds like what you paid for your Thor.

With you two being tall, you should really consider the Coachmen Beyond, 22RB (Rear Bath) It's on the Ford chassis with provides far superior performance, more headroom, a much more comfortable seating position, and the availability of AWD. The Coachmen quality is great and so is their customer service. Additionally, the stability of the dual rear wheels make a huge difference compared to the single rear wheels on the Promaster. We have a 2022 Beyond and love it. Once you test drive one, you'll be a believer. Will Williams

Anyone who would even consider paying that sort of price for A DEPRECIATING 'ASSET' like a motor vehicle needs to be returned to the psychiatric ward. Apart from price, WHOTF would want the 'modcons' ,like runningwater/sink, toilet,cabinets/3-burner stove etcetcetc? I've lived for 38 months at a time in an old Ford Econovan which cost me $3400 six years ago, and was initially bought to transport animals. I've fitted everything I need since then, and it works fine. 'Running water' and sink comes from a plastic 2-litre ex-orange-juice bottle and a plastic dish ; a toilet is provided at the roadside in the form of a TREE; refrigeration is a 52-litre Engel AC/DV fridge/freezer which runs on 32 Watts (AND by the supermarkets where I buy FROZEN FOOD when I'm in the mood) Cooking is supplied by 2 small pots (each enough for coffee/pasta/frozen-vegies, etc.) a small frypan, (for eggs-on-toast) etc. all of which is prepared on a single-burner butane stove. The several electrical circuits I installed for different requirements are catered for by 320-Watt solar panels on the roof. They feed into a battery-bank which is also supplied by the engine when it's running. (I did start out with a generator-and-microwave, but scarcely ever used them, so got rid of them.) My AC/DC TV has a 7" screen and runs on 7 Watts (and usually sits on the dashboard). All-up it cost about $FIVE thousand, including all on-road costs; and if I was going to sell it I'd be too embarrassed to ask for more than that, given my old-fashioned sense of decency. These days(years later) such vans, with a MUCH greater mileage on the clock and no 'extras', have an average asking-price of about $20K. The message is: God must LUV morons; he made so MANY of them!

Dazzle is the same as Thor Twist, there are different plan plans, I am tall so the Dazzle/Twist 2LB (two long beds) is nice for those that are tall. The Dazzle/Twist 2LB as a large rear bath. The Travato 59k shown is the Dazzle/Twist 2LB floor plan. The Dazzle/Twist 2LB cost less than the Travato 59k, the only dif I see is the table.

I agree with you on the Travato. The only concern I would have would be the bed comfort because you can't just replace the cushions with a good mattress. On the topic of building a van, someone told me that yes you can customize it but if you ever needed to trade it in to a dealer, they would only give you the market value of the van itself without the customizations to a camper van. Something to consider since you guys seem to switch out/upgrade frequently. Thanks for all the reviews. We are looking for a Class B too and are on the fence about the model and cost. Happy travels.

While the beds in the Travato are definitely comfortable, there are many that add a quality topper. Because the beds don't double as the eating area they can just be left on all the time. We added a high density 3" Tempur-pedic topper to our Travato beds 3+ years ago. We rather sleep in the van than the guest room when visiting relatives.

Most of these class B manufacturers must be trying to support a massive crack habit with the prices they are demanding. I’d give anything to get my hands on a new manufacture Kei Camper for about $30,000. Unfortunately, they aren’t marketed in North America. Every once in awhile you’ll see a worn out 25+ year old Kei camper that has been imported but they get snapped up quick.

For those of you who are looking at the $100k+ price tags on these RV’s and feeling discouraged - this is not the only pathway to a class B van. My wife and I own a 25 year old ’98 Roadtrek 170P. We purchased it 2 years ago with 90k on the odometer for about $10k and have put about $5k in repairs to the chassis and upgrades to the camper side. We love it.
These newer Class B’s are beautiful, but please just know that you don’t need new and shiny to get out and explore the world in a van.
There are actually some advantages to older vans too. Ours has an old school propane fridge with zero electronics to break and uses no battery - we can run it for weeks on a single fill of our onboard propane tank - you can’t even buy a fully manual propane RV fridge nowadays.
Also, even if you have the budget for a new van I would strongly consider buying one that is a few years old - why? Just like a new car, once you drive it off the lot it depreciates in value massively. Plus, buying a van that is a few years old it’s likely that the kinks/issues that are common to many new RV’s have been already been fixed by the previous owners.

  • @nrich5127

I guess if you are "swept away" with a new vehicle then go ahead but personally you are spending WAY TOO MUCH for what you are getting. You can by a brand new truck and a 30 ft travel trailer for less and you will have 4 times as much room to live in. I don't get it ?

I would never buy a van from an RV company. The quality is so poor these days. You spend more time fixing than travelling. I'd buy the van I like and have it custom fitted with what I want from a company I wpuld research carefully for quality.
