Heavy Rain Synopsis The day after celebrating his son Jason's tenth birthday, Ethan Mars and his family go shopping. Jason and Ethan are hit by a car; Jason dies, and Ethan falls into a six-month coma. After he wakes from the coma, Ethan, blaming himself for Jason's death, divorces his wife Grace and moves into a small suburban house while experiencing mental trauma and blackouts. Two years later, while at the park with his other son Shaun, Ethan blacks out. When he wakes up, he discovers that Shaun has been kidnapped by the "Origami Killer", a serial killer whose modus operandi consists of abducting young boys during the fall season, drowning them in rainwater, and leaving an orchid on their chests and an origami figure nearby. Norman Jayden an FBI profiler struggling with addiction to a drug called Triptocaine, investigates the death of another Origami victim and concludes that he died the same day as a violent rainstorm, which flooded the cell where he was kept. Based on weather patterns, he estimates that Shaun has only three days to live.
yeah I thought that, Matthew was still just Tom but Braun really brought his A Game - he's clearly scared of being typecast and was like right lets show everyone what I can do.
I can't tell if this was a typo and you maybe meant his version of Greg bc to me the genius is Tom sounds just like Greg when he talks to Logan, Shiv or anyone with power over him, hence why he needs Greg to abuse for his chance to be the confident one
@@mothwench that's what Oases meant. He's saying when Matthew was impersonating Greg he sounded just like his own character (Tom) when he talks to anyone of a higher social status - which is what you're also saying right? It's such a great character (Tom) and must be so much fun to play someone who is both a wannabe alpha and willing beta.
I thought it was even better … Nicolas showing us HIS version of Tom, and in the process maybe … MAYBE … showing us the real Greg under the klutzy veneer. FYI, I came back to this clip after season 4, episode 8, where we DO see “evil Greg” peek out after he SPOILER WARNING … rats out Shiv to Kendall.
matthew cannot take greg's role seriously at all (lmao) but nick is surprisingly good? i hope he escapes his typecast someday because if he puts his mind into it he could play a really cool antagonist! or just an eviler version of greg lol they always have so much fun together i hope this isn't the last project w this duo

@@damazywlodarczyk No I know, of course they do! There's just also a rather large subset of the fanbase, especially on twitter, who I've seen call him a bad actor etc. Not making anything up :)
They have to remember dozens of insane dialogues like this on a regular basis. It’s reasonable they need to read the thing again to remember it after all that.
It's crazy that macfadyen is the mvp actor of succession but even he can't play greg right, while braun is pretty good as tom, greg has a very specific personality that's hard to pull off
Good reminder that other than the amazing script and photography, this show also has an absolute perfect casting. Each actor has embodied the characters so perfectly that even off camera they resemble them
I think this just solidified for me how important writing is when coming up with dialogue for each character, making it believable and playing to the strengths of the actors.
It's funny. The components of Succession look like "the whole". Great cast, cinematography, an amazing Britell score, locations and of course the dialogue. But here we can see that these two excellent actors such at each others roles. So we should add casting to the list. I am sure that so many different people and talents have gone into this and as viewers we only see the end result. A chain is as strong as its weakest link, this chain is so strong and it has so many links. I feel grateful to experience this masterpiece.
Nicholas Braun is too intelligent and a brilliant actor. I dont think any writer can write those awkwardness on paper which he creates. And as a fellow awkward person I can relate to those.
This shows how adept and gifted they both are at 'embodying' their actual roles. Not just reading lines- which is what some cynics think acting is. Boo souls!
Opening scene - Tom (Or Greg) is sitting on the bonnet of an old car outside the gates of a "Club Fed" prison. The gates open, revealing Greg (or Tom) walking out of prison dressed in the sharp suit he was arrested in, with the rest of his meagre belongings in a polythene bag. They embrace in an awkward back thumping masculine way, with Tom (Or Greg) saying "I told you I wouldn't let you down. So... fancy a road trip. I aint got anywhere to be anymore...". Greg (or Tom) just nods, overcome with emotion. End scene with a screech of tyres as the car heads off down the winding country road. Roll opening credits. Title card for "Egression" rolls up the screen.
I was expecting Matthew to be incredible, and Nick to underperform. Basically because Nick talks just like Gregg in real life, whilst Matthew has done a diversity of theatrical roles. However! Nock was excellent here, and Matthew couldn't really take it seriously

Lol, interesting idea, but poor execution. They should have hammed it up some more. 😆
!!
Good god I want to see a scene swap with Roman and Kendall.
yes!! @hbo get on it
Seeing as Jeremy Strong was initially trying to get the part of Roman that would be so perfect
@hbo plsss

oh give it a rest

@@dddgtsd OH I get it they meant in this video. I was confused but still had a feeling we were all on the same page lol
Or when he talks to early season Shiv
Nicolas actually embodied Matthew. The "Grag," the jaw movements, the eye contact, the seductive poise. I WAS NOT READY
Right?! There were just flashes but at several points his face muscles just kind of morphed into Tom. Acting is magic I swear.
The Congress bit, just fire

Nicholas makes his "Tom" more of an overt sociopath and creepier. I like it.

He reminded me of tyrell wellick from mr robot. I was surprised at his intensity
hold your breath on eviler version of greg, who knows we may very well get that in the coming weeks with S4

Matthews switch between his British accent and Tom/Greg is nothing short of flawless.
I was floored the first time I heard his real voice. He's the most convincing Brit doing American English ever.
Seeing this you realize that acting as Greg is really hard, that nervousness is so hard to convey to people
Nicholas does such an excellent Tom impression🔥
such a good acting by Nick! I'm impressed! He got so serious ._. it's awesome
He does! It looks like he's been waiting to step into Tom's shoes for a while 😂
He Embodies
You can tell he's been studying Matthew's performance 🤓
damn Nicholas was Not joking when he said he'd embody Tom
He sure said it with conviction
What came out of this, was that I REALLY want to see an evil Greg come out of this.
It seems like a logical next step, right?
😂😂😂me too😂🙌💯
Are ya happy?
"Dark Greg" is the meme we all need in these troubled times...
I think we will see that "evil" Greg at the end of season 4...
And i emphasize "evil" meaning the REAL Greg!
i love this so much literally providing us top tier promo
Riiiight got me debating a watch party for the premiere
Matthew's voice is so calming, these two guys should definitely have their own tv series.
They do, it’s called Succession 🙃
New Succession spin-off: the Disgusting Brothers!
Nicholas was actually so good at delivering Tom's dialogue, damn. He should get to play an actual villain at some point
It's so funny that they still need to consult the script, while most of us can recite this entire scene in our sleep.
Funny in a sad way
@@llimettime Yeah, I admit
They have to remember dozens of insane dialogues like this on a regular basis. It’s reasonable they need to read the thing again to remember it after all that.
Matthew played Greg as a more happy-go-luck guy with just a hint of the awkwardness, whereas Nicholas showed Toms’ menace more directly.
They have the best chemistry between them. I think, as much as I love the entire show, I mostly watch just waiting for their scenes together.
I just wanted to remind everyone that Lester has touched all of us
It's crazy that macfadyen is the mvp actor of succession but even he can't play greg right, while braun is pretty good as tom, greg has a very specific personality that's hard to pull off
The way he flip flops in and out of this accent is insane! Very few Brits do a non hyper regional American accent so well and so fluidly
Things like this really remind me that their chemistry is just electric, in isolation it really shows.
Nicholas Braun understood the assignment😂😂😂
Nicholas Braun BODIED that. The man is an actor.
Dude. Somehow them swapping makes you realize how well the scene is acted out to their personalities in the show.
I was smiling throughout this video so hard, my face pains. 🙂✨️
Wow seeing them swap roles shows how perfectly they were cast. No one else can be Greg. That's difficult to pull off convincingly.
This is the best thing I've watched today. Day made.
This is the best scene in the entire history of TV
Matthew definitely needed to crank up the awkwardness, but Nicholas really did embody Tom!
Matthew was really trying not to laugh the whole time 💀
"My Greg-weiler" classic
Nicholas Braun smashed it out of the park. They should have given him both parts.
If you want a recap here is it, Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age and He is the eldest son.

Tom and Greg are by far and away my favorite part of this show. SO good.
Nicholas was triying so hard omg
This actually proves that the scripts are great
I would like to hope that these two remain friends outside of this series. I think that they could do a standup comedy roadshow.
They're extremely close; I'm sure they'll visit each other from time to time. Braun's in talks to do a play in England either later this year or next.
1:40 omg that was so good tho??

It’s interesting how the swap really reveals just how brilliant they both are in their own roles!
Tom is drawn to Greg because he IS Greg. And Greg is a Tom in Greg's clothing. No wonder they can play each other so well.
These two are just the best. They have some of the funniest lines in the show - the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of Succession.
This is actually a great demonstration for how important casting is
So damn good! It just shows that Nicholas plays awkwardness fantastically
These two have the best chemistry in this show
they can't THEY LITERALLY CAN'T
This literally has no meaning. LITERALLY.
BEAUTIFUL. I hope there is one with Jeremy and Brian (imagine that 🤭) or one with Sarah and Kieran 😁
the side eye to the camera when nicholas braun says "im gonna embody you" 😭
This scene is even more incredible after seeing the series finale.
who knew the pairing of tom & greg would be the best bromance (in a gaslighty kinda way) in tv history😂
Tbh anytime I see Gregg open his mouth in the show I just instantly start laughing
Thought I was gonna get work done today but now I have to go watch that episode again. 🤷♂
You can’t make a Tomlette without breaking any Greggs
Blessing us with ALLLL the content in time for season four !!!
I think this only confirms they are perfect for the roles they are casted to
These two are my favorite onscreen romance of all time.
beginning to understand why matthew once got kicked off a TV set for corpsing so irrecoverably
That's why casting directors are important.
Even if succession ends, I REALLY want to see a TomGreg spinoff cause' that story would be SOOO interesting and these two would absolutely kill it!!!
Sadly, it's ending this season :(
Nick would play the perfect Clark Kent. The way he goes into a whole different level of awkwardness and it’s almost unrecognizable. Amazing.
Nick killed it
nicholas is impressive. more serious roles for him please! ✨
Even in laughter, macfadyen can’t help but make the words come alive. Braun is awesome too - but he’s in the presence of greatness.
Oh Jesse Armstrong what have you done
These two are the most delicious pairing since Moonlighting.
What?
Deep cut
Matthew is awesome! He can hardly stop laughing.

Literally every main actor on the show is scene stealing. I'm not even that invested in the show but the amount of talent in it is truly insane
yes agree with this so wholeheartedly! not a single person on this show is dropping the ball
Yes, all roles look like tailor-made spwcifically for these actors

It's like Matthew went for a younger version of Tom. Like how Tom was when he was starting out in a lower position like Greg.
The touch on the leg 😭
Nicholas Braun’s innocence made this fun to watch 🎉
Not that it's a competition but Nicholas absolutely bodies Matthew here
The real succession's MVPs
Nicholas’s Tom sounds like an overgrown frat boy who clawed his way up to power. There’s a billion of those in Deloitte.

i think matthew is finally realizing how much fun it must be for nicholas to play the ever bumbling, somehow-manages-to-win Greg
